Both eras are fine but I´m a bit nostalgic/old school since this era leaves nothing to our imagination,no magic, we get it all instantly, we don´t know how it feels to be counting the days for something because something happens and 3 minutes later it´s available in ineternet.
I don't get this. I don't this at all. If there is something that has been constant about GN'R is that nothing is immediate. Waiting is part of the game. Right now I am waiting for the next record, and before I did that I was waiting for CD. And whenever a release date is suggested I sure as hell don't expect it to happen instantly, I expect endless postponements to take place.
I was talking in general in this last paragraph, not specifically about GNR. What I mean is that for exemple, if an interview happens we don´t have to wait until the date it will be aired on tv or raidio because it will leak almost instantly in internet as it happened with the metal show interview. Or if the band plays a show after a long period of inactivity and you want to know how they look like or how they sound...etc, you don´t have to wait untill the day they come to play to the show you got tickets to, you just have to wait a few minutes or hours and those videos of the show will be uploaded to youtube...and so on. That is what I meant, and this can be applied to GNR and to other bands as well.
I hope you got what I meant, I don´t really know how to express what I want to say well since English is not my mother language

I like both, the old band and the current one. I grew up listening to the old band, I was a teenager when they were on top of the world and I couldn´t attend any of their shows because I was a minor and wasn´t allowed to go. Rock music alwas attracted me since I was a little kid but it was thanks to GNR that I truly appreciated it and started to love it. At that time, we didn´t have internet so we got all the news/rumours from magazines, radio stations and tv, people weren´t so demanding as now or maybe they were but didn´t have the means to express it as we do now thanks to new technologies.
I remember I found out the band was again active like in 2001 while I was waiting to catch the train and saw a magazince cover with Axl in it and the headlines talking about Rock in Rio. Then, in 2002 I got access to internet for the first time and the first words I typed on google were guns n roses and I found out they were in the middle of a North American tour. I was freaking out because I could watch those performances online, I heard the new songs...etc. I followed the band and I finally saw them live for the first time in 2006, what a blast. I love this current incarnation and I enjoyed buying Chinese Democracy and my first listen of it. I think it´s very cool that the band members are more accesible to the fans thanks to twitter or facebook or the forums, hell I even got to chat with BBF once! THAT would have been imposible in 1992!

The same topic is in htgth and it hasn´t been deleted...yet

I don't have time to read such a long piece of crap!
You haven´t read it, how do you know it´s crap?

The key characteristics of a Fan Dumb tend to be someone with an over-developed sense of entitlement and / or victimization and, usually, an under-developed sense of humour or perspective about the subject of their fandom, coupled with an obsessive level of an interest and, frequently, some rather irrational views on the whole thing. They usually believe that the very fact that they are a fan of something entitles them to special or exclusive treatment or that they are being persecuted by numerous different parties (the creator, the producers, other fans, the world at large, etc) because of their fandom.
They are nearly always someone who has completely lost perspective on exactly how important or special the show, the fandom and their views on same is in the scheme of things, and don't understand why others don't feel the same as they do. As a result of all of this, they tend to view even polite or minor disagreement with them and their views as a personal attack, which often leads to them adopting an irrationally combative, defensive tone towards others; in discussion, they will usually resort to unrelated ad hominem attacks on others and place value judgments on them, not their arguments —expect snide comments about race, gender, sexual orientation, age, etc. ("Oh, you just think that because you're black/female/gay/old....!") And any jokes made about the subject of the fandom (or them) will be responded to either with out-of-proportion offence or a humourless deconstruction of why the joke is 'inaccurate'.
I think these two paragraphs summarize pretty well the behaviour of a lot of the folks in here. I´ve seen it for years in this particular place and that is partly why this place earned "a name among gnr forums. I´ve always wondered why certain people feel they are "owed" something and never understood their sense of treating their idols like one of their possessions.

Adele-Set fire to the rain. I can´t stop listening to this song!!

I remember DJ in one of the interviews saying something like, "He's always reading everything. He's always keeping informed. He watches everything."
Are you sure he wasn´t talking about Big Brother?

I never liked Rhiad, I´ve listened to it a million times and I still don´t like it. I just can´t get it to grow on me.

People should spend more money on fixing their cats than declawing them. Cats can breed faster than rabbits.
Exactly!
-
Awesome, I have 2 cats. One black female and one gray fluffy male.
I had 3 others, but they passed away.
I feed about 10 cats outside my house too.
If I had alot of money, I would have my own no kill shelter and put any dog or cat that didn't have a home and take care of them with a loving caring staff, but since I am not loaded with money, I do what I can.
Well you're not the only one. I can't count how many of my cats have died. We (I n' my neighbour) are feeding 18 cats outside and spring is coming so we're expecting more kittens.. It's sad that we can't do anything about it. No one's going to take and care for them and we don't have enough money to sterilizate all gibs to stop breeding.
And other neighbours don't give a fuck about 'em. For those Fcrs there's no matter if they're hungry or cold or dying
You are not the only ones. I feed cats outside my house too, some neighbours dislike me for that but I can´t help feeling sorry for those lovely creatures while my two cats live at home like princes.

Axl is like good wine, gets better with the years :xmasssanta:

Officially run out of things to talk about...
Yup. Only took like half a month.
That's the funny part about it. Half a month and were talking about obnoxious thing's like Axl's ringtone. If GN'R doesn't say any update on anything new in the next few months, we'll have topics about "what kind of toothpaste does Axl use," and "what name should we give Bumblefoot's beard?" And mostly likely every topic will somehow turn into a Axl vs. Slash, New GN'R vs. Old GN'R bitch-fest and will be locked in a day.
But imo the band are not to blame. The tour ended a couple of weeks ago and those guys have their own lives outside the band, it´s not like they are guns´n roses 24/7. They deserve their time and after a long tour they probably needed a break. If this kind of topics happen it´s no one else´s fault but the people who demand stuff all the time.

Axl's love for pussy is now official.
I think I remember reading something about Axl having two cats when he was a kid in Indiana. I don´t know if it´s true or not but that´s what I recall from an old magazine back in the day.

http://www.celebrific.com/22933/hollywood-actors-who-love-cats/
Who’s a cat person? Not me, but I do appreciate how people fall in love with their feline companions. I find it amusing how even the coldest people suddenly melt when they are around their cat. And Hollywood guys – tough or not – are not exempt from the charms of these stately (and not quite domesticated) creatures!
Now who would have thought that Guns ‘n Roses frontman Axl Rose loves cats? Apparently, he introduced his cat to the world via his Twitter account, and he had only one word to say “Dijon”. Nice name for a cat, if I say so myself!

Tommy´s right, most people go to see GNR because of Axl, he is the soul of the band and a living legend, one of the real rock stars remaining. BUT once you go to a show and see those guys live you realize that those guys are fucking ace and kick some serious ass. He shouldn´t be so humble, he and the other guys contribute a lot to this band.

Never really understood all the Matt hate to be honest. Some of his drumming in UYI was great
Seems like a lot of peoples' noses are out of joint because he is getting inducted into the HOF. 'He's just a drummer', 'he's a hired hand', 'he didn't contribute enough'... blah blah blah. Then the same people praise DJ Ashaba and Bumblefoot in other threads. Quite ironic.
He may be 'just a drummer', but as it stands, Matt has contirbuted WAY more to the legacy of GNR than DJ Ashba has. So people need to be a bit more objective and grow up
LA
Yeah, it might be ironic but what is ironic too is that all those who despise the current band members and call them "Axl´s hired guns" feel offended when people think the same of Matt Sorum. I don´t mean to disrespect him or anything but I think he is just an average drummer who happened to be lucky to play in GNR when they were on top back in the 90´s.
I never liked Matt, even in the old days I thought he should shut the fuck up, so now, in 2012 I feel the same. And if he´s expecting to go to the HOF induction, he should think twice and not get his hopes up,he can´t even be compared to Izzy, Duff or Slash.
-
That´s great news. I liked DJ since he first entered the band and could hear some of his stuff on youtube but he got me really hooked when he played Mi Amor in Rio. I think GNR have three fantastic guitar players right now and they all add something to the band that makes it sound special. I´m really excited to hear what they have up their sleeves!

You would have to be an idiot to think that's official merch....actually, you would have to be an idiot to even buy that ...
Damn straight lol
It´s horrible and the face doesn´t even look like Axl. If it wasn´t for the bandana and the red hair it could be whoever.
-
I am a technology-tard and I´m also old school so I prefer the physical format in CD or vinyl.
-
My only complain is that I couldn´t make it to any of the 10/11 shows although I followed the tour in internet and it´s been awesome .
-
It would be really something if Eric banned Axl for his behavior.
Madison was about to ban Dexter so go figure...
-
its better that they over reacted than not, never know what can happen in this day of age.
Agree. In this case the kido wasn´t aggressive but imagine what could have happened if it had been a drunk guy or a psycho.
-
lol I can´t believe you guys are making a big deal of Axl´s hairline and his hat just from some casual picture
-
To me it´s not like I listen to GNR all the time but I have SCOM as my ring tone and everytime my mobile rings I get the guitar riff stuck in my head for a while, thanks god I don´t try to "sing" that
Do you think Axl might be better off actually going to the induction ceremony?
in 2012

I could be wrong but I bet almost 100% sure that the Axl/Slash meeting won´t happen, so this is a no win situation and no matter what Axl does he´s going to be bashed because people are never happy. A "Solomonic" solution could be that Axl showed up with for exemple Izzy or Duff representing the old line up and BBF or DJ representing the current band, this way, any of the incarnations gets disrespected.
