  1. he's got a dead leg , that's all

    well, seriously, tho

maybe he's got a fukked up leg and he snorts coke before the shows to kill the pain, so he can walk up straight, let alone dance?

i mean, come on, whaddaya expect us to say?

he bust up his leg, he's fat and old.

    but, realize the fact that

    it's rock n roll.

    I believe Axl is RnR

he never quitted. he never backed down. Axl Rose will be driven to the ground by Axl Rose.

    Axl kix ass

  2. Mia Tyler is Aerosmith's Steven Tyler's daughter.

She wrote in her book, Creating myself, that when she was about 9, Aerosmith played 3 dates in Boston, Mass (where they lived) and Tyler spent a lot of time with her. She was backstage a lot then and it happenes so that it was the 1988 tour, with GNR opening.

She said that she had her 1st kiss ever with Adler. Backstage. He was just kinda walking by, saw her, kissed her with the tongue and then kept walking on.

it happened on this day, so you get to see how young she was

one more info is that Mia said that Axl dedicated SCOM to her.

this is what gnrontour has to say about it :

08.24.88 - Great Woods, Mansfield, MA
    opening for: Aerosmith
set: It's So Easy, Mr. Brownstone, Out Ta Get Me, Patience, Welcome To The Jungle, Guitar Solo, Paradise City, Sweet Child O' Mine, Knockin' On Heaven's Door
    audio/video recording?: audio
notes: Axl tells the crowd they just got back from Donington and have been hanging out in Boston for the past 3 days. Axl introduces Steven as The biggest pot-head I've ever seen! The band jams on 'Ain't Goin' Down' after Slash's guitar solo.
    ticket

08.25.88 - Great Woods, Mansfield, MA
    opening for: Aerosmith
set: You're Crazy, It's So Easy, Mr. Brownstone, Out Ta Get Me, Patience, Guitar Solo, Welcome To The Jungle, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Sweet Child O' Mine
    audio/video recording?: audio
notes: Axl does a funny Wrestlemania impression.

08.26.88 - Great Woods, Mansfield, MA
    opening for: Aerosmith
    audio/video recording?: no

So I guess it had to happen on the 26th.

    Cool info

    edit :

one more mention in the book -

when Mia Tyler had her 16th birthday (1994) Axl sent her 16 dozen red roses and a card which read "Happy Birthday, Love Axl Rose".

  3. this is when the singer doesn't want to make this vibrating sound using his diaphragma

so he moves his mouth to get the sound to vibrate.

    actually,

I've watched Freddie Mercury on video and he used to do it a lot live and in the studio. He would put his fist on his right side of the belly and gently punch / tap himself there to get the sound to vibrate. In the studio he would put his hand on the right side of his throat and do that same thing.

For one, I think Bruce Dickinson has the strongest diaphragma bikoz that guy uses it for the entire show, and never gets tired and never fakes it. Everything that comes out of his mouth vibrates from the inside of him.

  4. Wasn't the whole Slash leaving the church scene his way of disagreeing with the NR video setup?

well , yea, but that's my whole question dude

whocame up with the idea of Slash leaving the church?

    a) if Axl - kinda generous of him and doesn't deserve the critisism

    b) if Slash - I wonder how Axl reacted

As far as I remember, Axl BOUGHT one of the videos from the band [the trilogy one].

If Axl LET Slash walked out of the church - my guess is, under circumstances, Axl did it out of sheer respect

    therefore, does not deserve criticism

If Slash insisted - I wonder how Axl felt

    it is open for interpretation

smart asses - STFU, I know WE DOUNT know -

let's speculate, that's the only fun we can get

  5. Looking at the old interviews, Axl used to say a lot about how angry he is about his step dad, and how they tried to control his life [Chicago 87] and the infamous Chicago 92 rant.

Then in 2006, during the Eddie Trunk interview, he called him "my dad".

Did I miss any info on whether they made up or not? Or once Axl left house, and then even more so when Axl's mum died, he just didn't have too many reasons to talk to the guy?

  6. if Nov Rain vid was Axl's idea, who wrote the part with Slash leaving the church?

I bought the 97.7 HMZ CD lately (or smth like that - the interview CD) and it has 40 minutes of Slash complaining about Axl in 1994 and 1995. He said he did the Snakepit bikoz he didnt have to deal with "the Stephanie Seymour ballads". And that Estranged video sucked ass bikoz Slash had to stay in the ice cold water for 8 hours toget a 3 second shot, and Axl's scenes were shot in Miami in a 80-degrees (F) water.

Then I kinda connected the dots and thought - if Nov Rain was all about Axl, whocame up with the idea of Slash leaving the church?

    a) if Axl - kinda generous of him and doesn't deserve the critisism

    b) if Slash - I wonder how Axl reacted

    any info?

  7. Moreover, I believe that Axl doesn't have to be pissed off to rant. He might as well discuss how we expect him to be dissapointed or disillusioned but he really is quite happy and relaxed. Or he might say any kinda stuff on his mind. There's gotta be a lot on his mind.

I saw Ozzy once and it struck me real hard that he didn't open the show with a song and didn't run to the center of the stage from the back stage in the middle of it. He just came up on stage and spent a minute or two complementing the new arena he played it in, some other funny cultural differences and stuff like that.

That is , after all, just personal. I kinda imagine Axl reading this thinkin "what a dumbass. They wanted me to sing, now they want me to talk?".

  8. Never understood why Slash [or Duff, Izzy or Matt] were so against them rants.

I find them to be an insight into the band's philosophy and the point of view. And that, in turn, allows to tell one band from the other. The rants were as big of an argument, as the most expressive songs, if in some cases not bigger, in fans identifying with GN'R.

I, for one, started listening to GNR when I was a kid - back when I couldn't speak English yet [it is not my native language, fyi]. They were attractive to me back then because they looked cool and acted cool and played cool music [tho I didn't bother knowing what the lyrics are about back then].

When I started growing up, and learning English, I loved Axl's rants about how a life is one's own, and about always following your path, plans, dreams and intentions, leaving aside everybody who is not a part of the solution.

This gave me something to look up to, and something to believe in. To identify with.

Of course, these words might have been [and must have been, surely] said in numerous interviews, but they sounded -A LOT- cooler spoken during a public mass on an arena rock concert, followed by a 70,000 people chant.

The concerts I am referring to now were played when Axl was more or less my current age. I surely do not need Axl now to remind me that I should grow up in my own pace, and it would be rather irrelevant for me to know that Axl thinks my life is my own [neither do I need Bon Jovi, or anybody else to tell me that for that matter].

However, Axl is still twice as old as I am, and still has a lot of interesting things to say. I believe it would be ultra-super-cool of Axl to take a minute or five and let everybody know that in case of us being unhappy with our lives, we shouldn't be afraid of making big changes and turning the other cheek for criticism. Axl made a big decision regarding GNR, and I, for one, may compare it to being unhappy with my wife and letting her go, or leaving her. And never look back. I guess, Axl could kinda tell us if we should or shouldn't be afraid of doing that, since he has made choices relatively comparable.

He doesn't say much, tho, leaving us for reading in between the lines. And then he makes fun of people reading in between the lines too much. I feel is it rather impersonal of him to show up, play a show [note for note, song for song, for the most part] and leave without a word besides 'thank you for the exchange of money for fun'. That doesn't leave too much to back up the argument why I would follow this band for so long, spend so much money on it anytime I can, and why I still stick with it after so many years.

I really miss the ideology behind this band, except for - ' let's keep going around the world for 5 years straight, getting drunk and being loud. Which is, well, hey, still better than 'dissapear for 5 years and come back as nothing happened' kinda attitude. But in the late 80s Axl kinda despised such an approach to life. So what are we fighting for in 2014, goddamit? Who's "US" and who's "THEM" ?

    On top of things,

Even a sucky rant beats listening to mid-tempo songs, such as Bad Obsession. Neither it is a ballad to experience some blues, nor a rocker to headbang to. So, sorry Slash. Probably used those five minutes to get a fix backstage anyhow, and only now complains.

Whaddya think? Do you miss the rants?

What do you identify with regarding GNR of the 21st century?

Or would you rather ignore the post?
