  1. The tribute band not personally posting anything about this show is really odd to me. A GN'R f'ing tribute band all of a sudden is playing the Whisky right in the middle of GN'R mania and they don't post anything about it because they may be busy? Doesn't make sense to me. This will be the biggest show they ever play and they would've known that whenever they agreed to the show.

Hold up though, I think everybody's missing a glaring omission in the Whiskey gig calendar for APRIL 5TH...

Lest anyone here forgets, please refer to your copies of RECKLESS ROAD for said date in 1986, which will be of course exactly 30 years ago...

    Surely that's the one!

THIS is actually interesting and true. Couldn't be a more perfect 1st show warm-up gig then to play back at the same legendary club 30 years later to the day and 3 days before the first big show...

That's Slash's version of events though :) Izzy said in an interview (can't remember which one but someone will have a link I'm sure) that he wanted the band to be a quartet with him and Duff sharing vocals. So he might have committed, but maybe Izzy wanted to just play some rock n roll with friends whilst Slash/Duff/Matt wanted another shot at being famous?

Slash says all of that in his book. The guys wanted an outside singer and Izzy didn't. Obviously they had a different idea of what that "Project" should be than Izzy. He wanted to keep it low key and they wanted to flesh it out and "go for it" so to speak. Can't say I blame them as that kinda go big or go home attitude/mentality is one of the main reasons the original GN'R was so attractive to fans imo.

  4. I was really excited about these shows and was going to get tickets for the first night in Vegas for sure. Maybe even a Mexico City show, but I'm really starting to become indifferent. Sick of the radio silence from all confirmed band members and no other real news being put out there. They're probably going to F this up just like Axl did  with Chinese Democracy. Damn shame.

  5. Just got home and heard about this. For what it's worth, the mods and posters here have my gratitude. That includes the folks that gave me shit, lol. Thank you to the mods for taking care of this place, and to everyone for all the care and interest and passion you've shown. No community online or offline agrees and gets along perfectly, that's nature - but overall, y'all have been fkn great :) I appreciate a whole lotta ya's a whole lot. Ron

Hey Ron, I'm not gonna mince words...I'm more of a "I Would Love A Reunion!!!" fan than some others, BUT you've always seemed like a legit and cool guy...

Best of luck! Just slip in a few good words about Slash every once in a while when you're around Axl...a thousand cuts strategy.

    Thanks

  6. man, now i gotta find somewhere else to burn time on the internet, join some other forum and be the awkward new guy. thanks a lot

gay as it sounds, im gunna end up missing some of you fuckers.

i hope we can now all agree that this "band" is in dire straits?

This band is at a Dead End.

Oh well, maybe someday Axl will get his head out of his damn near 50 year old ass and man up...probably not though.

Anyways, Happy trails fellow fans, its been real.

  7. Eric and HV:

Just wanted to say thanks for keeping this place going as long as you did!

Haven't always agreed with everything that has gone on and have been frustrated with Axl's actions (more accurately his constant acts of inaction) for years BUT...

I've had a lot of fun on this website.

    Thanks and Happy Trails!

    -Johnny Utah

ps: If there's ever a reunion...restart the site, I'll pay.

  8. Cool - will get to see him at Download.

Are any of the original llineup still in Thin Lizzy?

Actually Brian Downey the drummer is the only orginal member of Thin Lizzy left but Scott Gorham joined the band for what many consider their prime when he and Brian Robertson (Robbo) were the twin lead guitars starting on with the he Nightlife album. The original Thin Lizzy were Lynott, Eric Bell (Guitars) and Downey on drums..They released two albums before Bell quit. They went through several guitar players, including Gary Moores first tour with the band, before Robbo and Gorham joined.

I hear this version of Thin Lizzy actually puts on great shows but for me Thin Lizzy died when Phil Lynott passed away.........

well of course but the music lives on and i'm gonna go see them this summer on sweden rock to pay tribute to one of my favorite song writers of all time, cool to see richard as well

Considering the endless debate over whether NuGnR is really GnR becasue Axl is the only original member I don't think it is that obvious to some people on this forum............

Well obviously this isn't "Thin Lizzy," but since people are dead this is probably the best you're going to get...

  9. Watching The Long Kiss Goodnight... tonight. It's been years.

    what the hell

    me too

Did the same recently...wasn't as good as I thought it was when I was 12.

popquiz: Shane Black sold the script for the movie for something like $4 million...fuck, I need to start writing action scripts.

  10. RUNNING DOWN A DREAM - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

4 hours long, but it's really kickass and covers his whole career. (Plus the 30 year Anniversary concert in Gainsville,FL included is great as well)

I don't think most people realize how many amazing songs Petty has until they see them displayed like they are in the documentary.
