  1. Hopefully this blows up in the media and people boycott any future shows in the USA. Maybe that'll force them to release a new album since they'll be losing $$ and will need something exciting to bring people around.

Being a relevant band releasing new music and also making douchey political statements is one thing...being a nostalgic band who only seem to be in it for the $$ and also making douchey political statements is a pretty pathetic look.

I don't think Trump is sophisticated enough to troll anybody with a tweet. He is a hothead and when he tweets, it's real.

The whole fucking world we suddenly live in is goddamn surreal.

He may be an asshole, but the dude manipulates the media better than anyone I can recall. The guy won the campaign to be leader of the free world, it may be time some people open themselves to the possibility his perceived madness/clownish behavior is a strategy.

Feel free to criticize Axl if you don't like him weighing into a political discussion, but name calling won't be tolerated.  Attack the point, not the person.  I get why some dislike their music heroes weighing into politics, but as I explain below, I've never felt as though GNR was an apolitical band to begin with.

It seems as though the GNR camp is fairly anti-Trump.  This shouldn't come as a total shock considering the tacit support Axl gave Obama in 2012 and his off the hand reference to Trump at the Mexican City concert back in April ("let Donald Trump hear you").

I've always considered GNR a more politically conscious band than perhaps most others, even going back to their street urchin days.  Many of the issues that are often discussed today (urban decay, police brutality, war on drugs) can be heard in some of the lyrics on AFD and the UYI albums.  GNR was born during a time when neo-conservativism had taken over mainstream politics in America.  It could be argued that AFD was a protest or rebuttal against Reagan's America.  For me, Axl's position on Jeff Sessions, who's own political origins traces back to the days of Reagan, is consistent with his political leanings and perspective from decades earlier.

With all respect, AFD has shit all to do with Reagan or partisan politics. It was about universal things that people deal with, especially in LA, regardless of who happens to be President at a certain moment in time. I can also guarantee GN'R would never have gotten as big as they did if they were overtly political.

HIGHLY doubtful that it is an even three way split between Axl, Slash and Duff. Slash and Duff are making a ton of money for sure, but I promise that Axl still walks away with the most.

I'm not gonna speculate on Duff, but I'm quite certain Slash wouldn't of signed up unless him and Axl are basically making the same. He had all the leverage. Just him being back in GN'R is what caused all of this hype. They're selling out stadiums because he's back. Before he returned Axl was a Vegas act and then many members of his band quit. This is high level negotiations that all their people were doing and leverage is king.

It would be impossible for Axl to do this without Slash, so I really don't think he has the leverage to demand twice as much.

Exactly. There's no way Slash would accept half, especially when he has the most leverage in this whole thing. Him being back is the main reason they were playing to 60,000 some nights instead of 10,000.

  6. Overall the show was kickass tonight. Axl sounded great most of the time and Slash was a damn beast. Same for the band in general. It's always exciting when you can feel the energy of a huge venue absolutely vibing to a band and many times it was electric. I'm not usually a fan of Paradise City live recently but it was electric live tonight. The only time I really noticed Axl sounding odd/not good  tonight was during most of Coma. Very mickey. I went with 3 casual fans and they all thought it was great.

Pro tip for people going to tomorrow's show and ubering. When the show is over walk down to Sunset and take a right and go to the bars a few blocks down. It'll take 15 minutes but you can chill and have some cocktails while you wait for traffic to die down. You'll be on your 3rd drink before you would have even got out of the parking lot traffic jam.
