Meanwhile, new song-titles registered in the performing rights organization ASCAP’s database suggest that tracks on the album will include:
‘Angry’
‘Bite my Head Off’
‘Depending on You’
‘Dreamy Skies’
‘Driving me Too Hard’
‘Get Close’
‘Live by the Sword’
‘Mess it Up’
‘Morning Joe Cues’
‘Sweet Sounds of Heaven’
‘Tell me Straight’
‘Whole Wide World’
‘Angry’, ‘Depending On You’ and ‘Get Close’ also credit Andrew Watt, the 2021 Grammy producer of the year who has collaborated extensively with Ozzy Osbourne over recent years.
‘Hackney Diamonds’ will be the first Rolling Stones album of original material since ‘A Bigger Bang’ in 2005.
It will feature a collaboration with Paul McCartney and a guest appearance from former Stones bassist Bill Wyman.

He played what, four shows? I'm thinking HOB 01/01/01, Rio, and the two December 2001 shows, right?
Correct. Another apparent little fun fact, both songs that he was credited on (original versions predate GNR) were the subject of a lawsuit by Chris Weber:
Weber claimed to have co-written "Shadow of Your Love" (appears as a b-side on various releases, released as a single in 2018) and "Back Off Bitch" (from Use Your Illusion I), suing the band over songwriting credits, although the case was settled and Weber did not receive songwriting credits.

That Paul Huge somehow brought down Guns N' Roses doesn't make sense, The problems between Axl and Slash started much, much before Paul entered the picture. He became the focal point for Slash venting his frustration at the time. Sure, from the little we know, Axl could have handled things differently, being more tactful around Slash who was already checking out of the band, not bruise his ego on top of everything, but Paul just speeded the inevitable process up: Slash was leaving regardless.
It doesn’t make sense? Don’t be obtuse. Slash, Duff and Matt all strongly disliked this guy that was forced upon them. Forced upon them btw in a douchey way during a chaotic time. They tried to work with him to be good sports. They ending up detesting him even more and Axl was too dumb or too egomaniacal to realize what was going to happen. What happened? Slash, Matt and then Duff all left the band. Guns N Roses as most people knew it or would accept it was now over for the next 20 years. I mean it’s Axl’s fault at the end of the day, but saying Paul the Pawn brought down GNR makes a lot of sense imo.

They usually provide media with their own (GN'R) photos, but maybe sometimes they're slow to do so - or maybe some media outlets don't want to use pictures provided by the artist (although I doubt it).
I get the feeling Axl’s crew doesn’t interface with the media that well and may have some conditions that the media doesn’t like. Could explain why there weren’t many reviews of the shows in Chicago, NY/NJ, Nashville, etc. I think a Billboard review of the MetLife show was the only one for those dates.

Axl started the tour pretty good, had a strong middle (Hyde Park) and now sounds like vocal fatigue is setting in. Pretty natural for a 61 yo I would say.
I would imagine tours will become shorter and shorter now. Didn't they only have a week break between Europe and the US leg?
14 days between the legs. Most of the shows are also 3 days apart which seems like it would be a good amount of rest in between.

Paul's just a convenient scapegoat. What destroyed the band was Axl and Slash refusing to work on each other's songs and without Izzy there as the bridge between them they couldn't work together.
All they had to do was say, Axl, Paul and Dizzy go off and do your piano ballads and industrial songs, Slash, Duff and Matt go do your crunchy blues rock songs. Each "subgroup" comes back with their best 5 or 6 songs, everyone helps flesh them out and that's the album. Really no different than UYI.
A few years ago I went back and re-read a bunch of the 1994-1997 articles and interviews and it's remarkable going through all of it at once how simple and stupid most of the issues were. Most of it boiled down to, Axl and Slash had creative differences and refused to compromise or work on each other's stuff.
Agree on most, but Axl should’ve never fired Gilby and brought in Paul the way he did. He could’ve helped Axl write on their own, but to act like this dude was going to also replace Gilby as part of the band was an incredibly unprofessional move.

Tobias is all over Chinese and has his name against most of the best songs on the album. As noted above, for all the shit that he received during the demise of the old band, it's pretty hilarious for Slash to be playing his songs upon rejoining. It must be pretty gratifying in many ways if Paul takes an interest - which I'm sure he will, or at the very least, his accountant!
Do we even know what his contributions actually were? Also saying they’re playing his songs is a stretch. Paul may have been around when they were created but his percentage isn’t very high on most of the CD songs. Slash and Duff are making more than him on Hard Skool and I don’t think he’s making anything for Absurd.

As far as his personality, I have no doubts he was hated by Matt, Slash and Duff. But he was put in an unfair position. They viewed him Axl's unqualified that was being forced on them. So while I fully believe their accounts that he was a jerk in their interactions, it's naive to pretend that was a one way street. He was almost certainly treated with hostility off the bat. Much of the blame for that lies with Axl.
I agree most of that blame is Axl’s fault. What did the new GNR members think of him personally and/or his writing abilities?

I wasn't there, but the review in itself seems pretty fair. The author isn't taking the piss and clearly likes the band, but he also addresses the elephant in the room: It might be time to retire from touring after this tour. I agree.
I think retiring is extreme, but I would say don’t tour again until you’ve got a new album and have overhauled the set list/singing strategy to songs that can sound good live. Not just parts of songs, the whole song should be able to sound good.

In an age where almost no one is mysterious and we know what they ate for dinner, I respect that he's managed to live his life anonymously despite being part of one of the world's biggest bands.
Well many would say his inclusion brought down one of the world’s biggest bands. A singer forcing his hometown buddy on an already hugely (pun intended) successful band is pretty f’ing amateurish. Dude had barely ever even played live before and you’re gonna act like he can step into this and make this decision all alone because of your insecurities. Also the guy is apparently pretty unlikable…So stupid now that I’m thinking about it again.
This quote from Duff says it all:
[Axl] had hired his best friend for the band. I couldn't play with him. Paul Huge, that was the guy! He's a friend of Axl, he's a 'yes man.' [...] Man, you can't be in Guns N' Roses just like that. That was a real band. [...] Well, imagine you and I grow up together and you're my best friend. OK, I'm in Guns N' Roses and I tell the rest you're going to join the band. "OK, Slash, Axl, Matt, guys, this guy is in the band". "Duff, you got a minute?" "No, he's in the band" "Well, no. Everyone in the band has to vote it, Duff, so no way!" "Fuck you, this guy is in the band! I'm not doing anything unless this guy is in the band" "OK, you know what? We'll try and play with him, since you're that much interested in it. Hey Duff, the guy can't play" "I don't care" "Well that's not very reasonable." "I don't care". At that point, what would you do? I came to a point where I couldn't even look at [Paul Huge]. If I were in such a situation, if I were the friend joining the band, I'd say "Hey guys, you've done very good yourselves alone, I'm not going any further. Hey, Duff, thanks for the offer, but I'm breaking your band." But he didn't say it.”

Paul’s involvement, departure, and disappearance is one of the stranger pieces of GNR lore
Seems to me like he was brought in because Axl wanted someone to kind of be his new Izzy, but this time one that he could control and would always be on his “side.” A lot of jockeying for position was going on back then.

Gotta say this review is basically where I’m at. Still thrills but the cutting in and out of Axl’s voice is unfortunate.
Also the band may want to consider letting in news photographers to these shows. Otherwise they’ll use 2019 photos of Axl like they did in that review.

Review (harsh on Axl's voice - and the sound mix):
https://www.charlotteobserver.com/entertainment/music-news-reviews/article278722079.html
There's a comment at setlist.fm from someone who apparently attended saying that the mix was really bad (the drums were barely audible until halfway through the show, the piano on NR was very low, etc.)
Gotta say this review is basically where I’m at. Still thrills but the cutting in and out of Axl’s voice is unfortunate.

The sales really aren't that bad (or bad at all). They look empty for a few weeks but that's the new way of selling tickets. For promoters, it's no longer about attaining an immediate sell out, it's about getting as much money as possible up top from the die hards (us) and then filling it in as it goes by lowering prices on certain sections, little marketing pushes, hell, I've even seen Groupons offered for shows. Through all this, plus everything else fans get gouged on, people make their money and tickets get sold.
I don't fully get the details of how it works yet but I know that's the new model. See: dynamic pricing.
Most of the last stadium shows I went to looked half empty on TicketMaster in the weeks leading up to it and then at showtime they're at 90% capacity.
In demand shows don’t have highly reduced ticket prices or tickets basically given away. The prices would actually be considerably higher than face value. Not saying these shows haven’t ended up with decent attendance, but a lot of money was left on the table to get there.

I didn't like the cornrows at all, but balding was not the reason he chose to wear them. He would have just worn a wig.

How did a (rather pointless) thread about Izzy turn out to be about Axl's hair? Only on mygnrforum
Yes, he wore the fake hair in an attempt to look cool. Which is odd because apparently only buttrock dudes like Slash and Izzy do that. Axl just naturally evolves 🤔

I never said it was his own hair. What I said was you cannot wear that style of hair if you are going bald. You're showing you own ignorance when you say things like that.
You're talking to a person who has had this hairstyle before. The extension don't work like a wig. It has to be interweaved with your own natural hair to be held down properly. It's not some get-out-of-jail-free card when you don't have hair of your own. The flaws his hairline would have only been more obvious if he tried to get them while balding, and thin hair cannot support heavy hair extensions for long periods of time.
The dude is wearing a rug on his f’ing head. That isn’t his real hairline. I just wish for you that he could’ve evolved naturally and not kept trying to be cool. It’s so boring.

You can't wear cornrows if you're going bald, genius one. That's not how that hair style works.
You can if what you’re wearing isn’t only your hair, Einstein. Axl should’ve just evolved as you say and owned the bald look. Unfortunately he let your standards down and went fake.

Yeah I know. Was just curious. I think it's glaringly apparent that new GnR music will never be marketable. They are forever in the "classic" category. Regardless what people here think, casuals aren't interested in new GnR music. Foo Fighters, Offspring, Evanescence, Linkin Park, these bands are still getting their new music heavily promoted on radio. ChiDem got no radio play, and we're seeing the same now with these singles. I don't care. But there's a lot of people here that seem to think GnR are going to take over the charts and become mainstream again.
Regarding radio, it’s currently at #21 after a week. Will be interesting to see where it goes from here.

There's nothing wrong with evolution and always being concerned with looking "cool", all the time tend to go hand-in-hand with being absolutely boring. That's why I always liked Axl's cornrows, even if I didn't think they looked good. They were symbolic of the kind of person Axl is. I find it much cooler to do be yourself and flip the finger to people who talk shit. That "fuck you, I do what I want" attitude is the real punk-as-fuck persona the rest of the band liked to pretend they had. While the rest were concerned about wearing the right clothes and playing the right instruments to look like rockstars, Axl is the only one thought lived like one.
Haha, absurd. Axl was literally the “boring” person you’re describing above. He wore cornrows because he was going bald and thought that option looked cooler. He was chasing musical fads during the whole creation of CD. Guy wanted to be NIN so bad he was literally hiring people from their camp. Why? Because he wanted to seem cool/trendy/hip. He’s no better/different than the other guys in the band…he just had a different idea of what was “cool.”

Also Perhaps is now over 3 million on YouTube after exactly 2 weeks.
