100% correct. People these days act as if Slash’s only contribution was noodling on the guitar. He was a songwriter as much as any of them were. Plus there were songs that Slash received no credit for that were debatable - Estranged, for one. Slash’s guitar line is the main hook of the song, yet not significant enough to garner a songwriting credit when it easily could have been.

    November Rain as well.

It's a companion piece to Catcher. In the literal reading the "you" is Mark David Chapman the "savior" being Lennon. The narrator being Axl or any Lennon fan who had their hero stolen from them through a senseless act. Perhaps "I/we" as a collective were wrong for ignoring MDC, allowing him to feel this isolated and angry. But also, his actions were futile in that nobody respects, knows, or understands him. He's still alone and misunderstood, with the added burden of being universally despised and ruining his own life

But it's presented in vague enough terms that it can be seen as admonishing anyone who commits atrocities, mass shootings, and so forth with the aim of gaining notoriety

I’m skeptical this pertains to Perhaps. Has this actually been implied or stated?

Well, it took your comment for me 😂

Regarding Perhaps, I'm wondering why they say it's written by Axl, Slash and Duff when we know it's not, unless they get a credit for the music they added? But the song structure is exactly the same.

Presumably when they reunited the deal must’ve been that any new music released would be credited to all 3. Unlikely it would’ve ever officially came out otherwise anyways.

Apparently the songwriting is credited to "Guns N' Roses" which could technically mean just Axl.

Guns N Roses (partnership) is Axl, Slash and Duff. Any future songs will be credited to at least those 3 by the looks of it.
As for the old players, I’m sure they knew the score from the get go. They were paid to sit around in a studio (that Axl wasn’t typically at much) and come up with ideas for the man in the castle.

I've never understood that. Better is a much (no pun intended) better song. It's by far the most catchy song on CD. But I guess CD is a very easy song to sign whereas Better has that bitch of a bridge on top of some tough verses as well.

Better was included in the set a lot longer than it should have been imo. Axl simply couldn’t sound very good on it.

It's amazing what proper promotion can accomplish. I give this band and management shit just as much as the next guy or gal, but I think they're doing great with this release. A video, radio play (Winnipeg stations don't seem to be playing it), showing it in Times Square. And it seems they're getting recognition for that. Hopefully they're learning something from this and can continue doing so. Hell if anything I hope this reinvigorates some motivation and self confidence for Axl.

I think they realized that they can’t skate by on the legacy anymore after 7 years. Probably were getting outside pressure due to the lackluster sales of these baseball park shows (all heavily discounted and many closing off upper decks). Whatever the cause, happy we’re finally seeing some legit effort.

Both writers seemed like they knew what they were talking about. Although the Gazette one may need a better editor:

Not only did they get their first GNR show in seven years, but a legit new song and video on the eve of the concert with “Perhaps,” the third single from the band since “Hard Skool” in 2021.

Cool video! He’s come a long way in terms of being friendly to fans in my opinion.  Of all the band members, I always had the viewpoint that Axl was the hardest band member to meet or interact with. Last night blew me away … I’m still amazed Axl signed my poster. He was very friendly.

I wonder why he’s still at the venue so much later than most of the others? Partying?

I'm genuinely starting to believe that the absolute absurd (pun intended) behavior of this band and Axl is part of their appeal. It's kind of like back in the day where the added bonus and mystique of buying a ticket was Axl's erratic behavior during the shows. You never knew if he was going to fly off the handle or a riot was going to happen. The TouchTunes debacle seriously blew my mind, but let's be honest, that was an absolute classic Guns N' Roses moment and legitimately enjoyable for us diehards. It sounds stupid, but that type of shit is why we are obsessed with this band. 😂

Ha this is some real battered spouse reasoning. “He randomly hits me, but he’s so unpredictable and interesting!”
