The composition credits for Absurd and Hard Skool were just "Guns N' Roses" as well in the streaming services' liner notes. The "real" credits (meaning who gets composition royalties) appeared on ASCAP a while later. I suppose the same will happen with Perhaps.

Oh okay so another person could get a composer credit as well then. The fact that Slash and Duff are credited on all of the recent releases though seems like they must have a new agreement going forward.

I think that might be true, if it's just 2 seconds of guitar I don't think you have to credit the player?

I think they’d still get credited as a studio musician, but not sure.

Perhaps must’ve been solely credited to Axl before as the composer is now just listed as Guns N Roses (Axl,Slash,Duff). Absurd for example is credited to Axl, Dizzy, Slash and Duff as Dizzy must’ve been an original co-writer. Which is interesting because it shows us that the deal between Axl, Slash and Duff regarding releasing new music is now back to the pre UYI days where the band as an entity was credited as the composer. At least I think that’s the case.

If you take it literally they’re not technically lying though but yeah agree it’s odd that they’re wording it so it’s like it is a new writing collaboration when it’s openly known that it’s from the NuGuns era.

Well weren’t we under the impression Duff/Slash added their parts to these CD era songs a few years ago, not this year? Seems like they’re trying to pull a fast one for some reason with their description of this song. Maybe someone did some focus testing of general audiences and they realized nobody is interested in repurposed Axl songs from 20 years ago…just a thought..

I do find the press release that implied it was written by Axl, Slash and Duff pretty weird given that it dates from the NuGuns era. I suppose if Axl came up with the structure, lyrics and vocal melody then it isn’t incorrect as that’s classed as writing and then Slash and Duff did the recording two decades afterwards…

Yeah, but that’s not getting in a room this year and writing it together. Wonder why they’re lying like that in the promo material they’re giving radio stations…

So it isn’t robin’s solo if he isn’t credited right? Shouldn’t they all be listed out if that was the case?

He’s not playing it on the official release apparently. Regarding that they list the composer as Guns N Roses. Is that something new? Seems like it could be some deal between Axl, Slash and Duff to share on the publishing for all new material released. Anybody know more on that?

    So guessing Spotify USA tomorrow?

Yeah it appears their idea of great promotion (and probably why it was delayed a week) was to give Audacy rock stations in the USA the song exclusively to play one day before it officially came out. It also seems based on Audacy’s description of the song that they may be trying to mislead people that this is a new song that Axl/Slash/Duff wrote together…

    https://www.audacy.com/national/music/world-premiere-guns-n-roses-perhaps

According to an official release, "Perhaps" was "written and recorded by Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan this year," and is their "first collective new composition and recording together in thirty years since 1993’s 'The Spaghetti Incident?'"

Check out the band's brand new single "Perhaps" all day Thursday, August 17, beginning at 12AM ET on your favorite Audacy Rock stations.

Even if the demo is the first result Guns n Roses doesn't control Google.  It's just an algorithm

I’m in California so even though the song has been premiered on radio in the States you can’t listen to it on YouTube,Spotify, etc yet. So the only thing that is available to pop up on google at the moment is the demo someone uploaded to YouTube. It’s also been up for over 4 hours. Seems like that should be deleted and/or they should’ve just made the actual song available after it premiered on radio.

It’s on Spotify, but for me it seems to know I’m connected to a VPN so is blocking access, but looks like it will probably be available “tonight” whatever location you’re in

I listened to the YouTube version because I couldn’t wait

People were mentioning earlier that along with using the VPN you need to log out of your Spotify account as that’s telling the platform where you’re actually from.

I get it (I didn't at first), it's the sports fan mentality. They want their "team" (band) to win, to be champions again, to make them proud so they can brag to their friends/fans of other "teams".

But music should not be about this. All that should matter is whether someone enjoys it or not. I may follow the charts or ticket sales for "educational purposes", but I really don't care about this stuff.

I think it can be about both. Plus the more success you have, the more likely you’ll be convinced to release more so it works out.

Yeah I quite like what he did with it.  To me it is funny, people complain about Slash playing too fast live, but when he slows down the playing and does more long sustained melodic lines they complain too lol

To me the solo is fine and it fits for sure.  And I like the added production element of the double tracking

Yeah I really liked the guitar sustain (or whatever you call it) at the end leading into the piano coming back. That was cool.

If it is true that the single will be on the radio tomorrow, do you think it will be available immediately for purchase/streaming on the various platforms or will they announce that it will be available from Friday?

If they’re starting to play it in the USA tomorrow at 10AM EST, then maybe it will already be streaming in places like New Zealand at that point.

Fair. The promoter provided thousands upon thousands of free tickets agencies, radio stations and orgs because sales were stupid low and the stadium would have been empty. People, when receiving free tix, only redeem them maybe 20/25% of the time. GNR fans can delude themselves however they want but in the US at least, gnr is playing to empty stadiums.

Good. They don’t deserve anything more at this point.
