The lizard during The Seeker definitely does.

That said, did we ever get footage of that backdrop video for Catcher with the dinosaur that was used around 2013? That was dope. Someome asked Axl about it I think and he said something like "I dunno, man, sometimes I look behind me and think 'what the...'" :P

Lol really ? Thought that was diabolical

I'm not completely against backdrops. For instance the Stones are great at making them work. And I also really dig them with Pink Floyd. Nick Mason's recent tour even brought back the 60's style liquid projections which were amazing. But the ones GnR have been using on the NITL tour just really don't work for me. They don't enhance the songs at all, look poorly made and cheap (even though I know they're not) and if anything they distract from the music. So just give me band- and crowdshots instead.

Wasn't impressed with the Stones stuff beyond the logo on the yellow that's cool on this tour was a bit bland but was about the live footage more with those massive screens per band member.
Roger Waters The Wall is a whole different kettle of fish. Floyd, they haven't been about forever?

Personally definitely don't think they look cheap or poorly made, you may not like them which is perfectly ok , some I like some are a bit wtf, many come from the Chinese democracy art , AFD art, etc if you've seen those sleeves

  3. Disagree, they show video of the band all the time on the side screens, it gets a bit boring with 3hrs of video of the band only on the main screen that's the same as the side screens

Guns have in the past often had weird and wonderful thinks like cartoons etc going on, the stuff in early 2000's looked like stock clips

Most large concerts have content, think the Guns stuff is geared to Axl's eclectic tastes, think it's better than most out there tbh and adds to the experience.

You missed my point.. I have been to 3 of the reunion shows.. He definitely sounds better in person.. Most rock singers do because of the pure volume and other factors in a live show.. Teh pro shots are brutally honest and when he sounds terrible there is no hiding it..

Anyway.. all good.. Just thought you were a bit harsh on @sl4yer .   I think your "pretty good" assessment is more accurate..

Duly Noted, btw I have been to over 20 shows of this reunion run btw and the worst was Berlin by far, the rest have been pretty decent. In terms of being harsh on sl4yer, he's just getting back what he's dishing out. Charlotte was one of the best US dates since 2016.

    "Fit as fuck"??  lol

"Odd off day"? C'mon..  The shows are a blast and Axl sounds good in person but there is no denying he doesn't sound that good the majority of the songs..  If you listen to the pro shots they are pretty telling.. The Apollo.. RIO 2017.. Even his best songs aren't usually good all the way through.. He does play 3 hour shows and is good enough to make it work but if Slash was gone he wouldn't be worth the price of admission.. If anything he has the "Odd on day"....

I don't need to listen to the pro shots, I have been to plenty of shows including Charlotte. Yes fit as fuck he trains, he exercises, he stretches he can sustain a 3hr show in the heat .
Show 1 of most tours seems to be the most rusty, thereafter they are pretty good, oh and I first saw them live in 91 and have regularly since they fired back up again in the early 2000's until the present day so I have a pretty decent point of reference. Is Axl like he was in the early days, Nope, is he as he was in the 2000's nope, if you look back to RiR raincoat episode, he's better, MTV awards, better, Hard Rock residency, better, 2006, probably not as good, but that's 13 years ago , same as an athlete, age & life takes its toll. To date they haven't started to do what Aerosmith and the Stones do, which is play short shows.

So what he gives a 3 hours shows if he is butchering his own songs?

All people you listed is a bad comparision. They have way different type of performance. People who attends their shows gets what they expected. However some people on GNR shows are shocked by how he look and sounds.

I’m not bashing Axl and I loved the show I went to year ago. But some of GNR performances are very bad because of him being out of shape.

Bashing him too much is a bad thing and we shouldn’t do that. But praising him for whatever he is doing is just stupid too.

Butchering his own songs ? Really ? Most people who go to the shows fundamentally enjoy them. Everyone has the odd off day, do you perform at 100% every day at work ?
Why are those people a bad comparison ? Are you some sort of expert on vocal training ? Be specific if you're going to make generalisations like that, why do their performances differ in terms of what it takes to sing and their weight ? btw Axl is fit as fuck, running around, singing for 3hrs + . Bet you couldn't do that , how exactly do you know that there is a correlation between the rare mishap and his weight ? Are you privy to his medical records ?
Yes you are bashing Axl , you just said he butchers his own songs and is disrespectful to his fans, that's pretty much the definition of bashing.

    Stupid is as stupid does....

Axl credits Paul Tollett with getting reunion in motion, in first 30 seconds of this Globo interview:

Also, Live Nation run a pretty tight and standardized ship these days. Management just needs to follow certain perimeters. Many people place weight on Duffs role going back to 2010, as a mediator.

What TBs job was, was to get the afd lineup together and they failed at that. New album? Not yet. We get shitty pics from Kat. We get shit "welcome to the pumpkin patch" merch. GNAir . And a wonky box set with retooled drums on the "New" single.

Axl has clearly been focoused on his mental health. He alone can be credited for the peace he seems to have found.

I cant think of anything beyond the well received Lithos that TB has handled well on their own?

The lithos are not TB. They manage the 'asset' that is Axl. But I do agree

I wouldnt give TB that much credit. It was axl alone that specifically asked  nando for slashs number. Guns were on the verge of coming close to playing in theatres. It was time to bury the hatchet and i believed axl reached out to slash after duff had conversations with axl about the past in a way so axl could see why certain things were done from slashs eyes. It was duff that was planted the seed to what we have now and axl asking slash to his place for dinner when slash finished touring WOF.

And by the way im on your side. I do give TB some props by keeping this tour together.

The TB management keeps Axl steady, without it it would definitely de rail. I am sure that the 20+ years of living and supporting him has not been easy, therefore these constant attacks are unjust on the whole. Are they music management geniuses, of course not, are they able to better manage Axl than anyone before and keep things calm, absolutely. Without it we would not be where we are today. So yeah he mucks about with merch and stuff like that, so what, at least he's trying to do things, and bar one or two items it's on the whole not bad.

    this

So you work for a company, it has a Christmas party, do you say i am going to 'our' Christmas party ? Or is that reserved for the owners only

The real issue here is a bunch of you are jealous that this 30 something kid with no experience really has somehow via nepotism gotten himself to be manager of a band you love and it pisses you all off, especially as you see him lording it up and living the high life. Well somehow this management team, whether you like it or not has managed to get this band almost back together which none of the others did , with quite a stable ship. These are the facts so suck 'em up

You did't really compare football manager with Fernando, did you?

FM really does participate in every match... He cannot watch F1 race during it...

ok geniuses on here- what exactly should he say, this entire debate is retarded, over analysing a word like this. Seriously ..

And he wasn't watching F1 during the gig, what exactly should he do, lock himself away? Pathetic, we have the reunion and you're all still moaning, get your facts straight and stop twisting things around to suit your little trivial agenda

I'm not criticising his Stoke formulated patriotism but isn't he meant to be just a touch neutral perhaps? Would he have unveiled this if he was touring Sweden for instance? ''Whoo hooo. England have just beaten you Abba wankers. Now give us ya money and I'll play ya a GN'R tune''

Wow, i thought i had seen everything possible that could be moaned about. Silly me
