    The moment the UYI albums dropped it was over. There would be no proper Guns N'Roses music.

    Axl is to blame for it all.

    I 100% donot support the current hired band in any way shape or form. They suck!

    Come on man, sure they are not original Guns N' Roses and they will never be but they don't suck, they do what they gotta do and the band is pretty solid at this point. If you don't like them, is okay, just don't try to drag people into your world. :shrugs:

    All things considered, did Slash win?

    Subjective. He was better 20 years ago. Pretty damn childish to label one a cupcake for disagreeing with you.

    Calm down mate I never said you were a cupcake I was asking if you were trolling for a reaction...Axl worshipers like to do this and brag about it so was just asking if you were being sincere...

    That being said, sure it is subjective but when other musicians say the same thing about Slash I would tend to take their opinion over a Slash hater posting on a fan forum.......... ;)

    BTW you go out of your way to slam EVH for being sloppy yet fail to acknowlwdge that Slash was extremely sloppy 20 years ago...now his playing is very clean and crisp...don't believe me go buy a couple of the Slash solo tour live CD's and listen to his playing...he is spot on for the most part these days.....you can't have it both ways...........

    I mentioned Slash was sloppy several threads ago. I've seen recent clips of him and he has improved. But being sloppy is pure rock and roll.

    Well, but Slash was drunk and high back then. I mean, he could've played those songs better if he wasn't under the influence or whatever all the fuckin' time. Finck was sloppy and he wasn't drunk at all. Ashba is very sloppy and he only smokes and I have watched some clips where he misses some notes just because of the smoke :rofl-lol:. Slash deserves some credit for playing the songs in that fuckin' shape.

    He sings great, he's not replacing Axl. He's very humble and down-to-earth type of guy. I like him but in no way is better than Axl, no need to compare because Slash's band is not called Guns N' Roses. Still, it's really laughable how some people say Myles sings Gn'R songs better than Axl, very nonsensical shit as much as people saying hired hands are better than Slash, Izzy and Duff. :rofl-lol:

    on a related note, it's Jimmy Page who keeps looking more and more like Pat Morita with each passing year...

    I don't think it's a misquote at all. It's true that some of the songs on CD go back even before the Illusions sessions... all the brainchild of Axl. I'm sure Slash laid down some work for a few songs that appear on Chinese. But that work was obviously ditched after new guitarists were brought in.

    I'd KILL to hear any of that stuff.

    good point, i forgot that this i love dates to somewhere around 1991-1993. i would kill to hear it too. i feel like i heard once that fall to pieces dates to around 1996 as well, although i cant confirm that. either way, if ron really was being serious, id love to hear any of that stuff

    I also understand that the reason why Slash left was because Axl was trying to go in the direction of a more industrial sound at the time. I'd REALLY kill to hear any of that stuff! I'm sure there's hours of material that the band worked on while Slash was still in the fold. Some of in in one form or another, particularly This I Love, wound up on CD I'm sure. A lot of people don't even know that the basic piano parts to November Rain and even Don't Cry go back before GNR even existed.

    I forgot who said it, but apparently "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere" was Slash's vision for the next GNR album after TSI. When Axl refused to work on it, it became Slash's first solo project. I still feel Axl on some of Slash's stuff, including VR stuff, would have been huge hits. As well as Slash on some of Axl's stuff from CD. The "If The World" mash up is case-in-point. Shame those guys couldn't work it out.

    If you hear the bridge of 'Back and Forth Again' from Snakepit, that same little riff is in the making-of Estranged with Axl's whistle (nearly at the end). Back in 1988, Slash played the solo of 'Back and Forth Again' as part of his solo act performing with Guns N' Roses. 'Fall To Pieces' was one of the demos Slash presented to Axl (he talked about this in that 'Axl gets vocal' from 2008 or whatever). So, Axl definitely rejected some of the songs Slash has been playing since he fuckin' left Guns N' Roses. Almost forgot, now that I remember, if you have heard the main riff and solo of 'Nothing to Say' (Slash's solo album 2010), he played some of those notes in the amazing intro for Double Talkin' Jive back in 1993.

    That's all I know :)

    Duff's roots are old school punk rock, so that's where the "I don't play for money" thing comes from. But you can tell he doesn't like playing for free, either. The night he joined GNR on stage.. it's still work, and everyone else was making a nice chunk of change except him.

    I think it's hard not to be bitter about some things, but then you look at the bigger picture, and that outweighs everything. The beginning of the band, the rise to the top, and getting to do what you love. But when you don't love it anymore, and start destroying yourself? You're going to have bittersweet memories about it as well.

    Most bands have a 7-10 year life span, and he lasted pretty long with Axl. By the time he left, he was prob. bummed out, but then he just took his bass and went elsewhere. One door closes, another opens.

    Once Axl rejected Slash's songs, the band as we knew it was over. They stopped compromising. They just became older, wealthier, and stopped giving a shit about each others' opinions & suggestions. But the real dislike towards Slash seemed to happen much after that. I think there was something Slash said in an interview that Axl responded to, something about when they first became famous, but can't remember what it was.

    Axl Rose on the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame:

    "...... I don't know what it means in terms of me and the old band - the old lineup. I don't know if we were invited what they would ask of me. I don't know. That's still all up in the air. It's an honor to be on the..nomination..whatever. There's definately an element of the fans that really like that and so for them I think it's a great thing."

    At this stage in the game, I would be happy if Axl went and stood by Slash and they were civil and give the old time fans a freaking bone. And I am not even talking about performing together, I mean standing on a stage together or at least a hand shake.

    You know, I was thinking last night, Axl COULD appease New GNR Axlites and old school fans BOTH if he chose to.

    Happy? I'd bust out in tears. No joking. I can't imagine the moment when Slash and Axl shake hands (if it happens), that would be like, history has been made TO ME but, I'm not holding my breath.

    We take for granted we know the whole story

    We judge a book by its cover and read what we want

    Between selected lines

    The book had been written by others other than Axl. Most notably, by Slash.

    So its good to finally get more clarity with Axl's side of the story.

    If anything, what you should now see is a guy in Axl who cared and did so much for a guy like Slash, to only have Slash betray him.

    And this is further collaborated by what we see in how Axl treats and cares for the current members of his band and crew.

    So we see that a lot of the negative crap and lies spread about Axl were just that ... lies.

    This is the time when you find out you're totally wrong but keep talkin' nonsense in order to save face. Say what you want but you're lost in your own goddamn thread.
