  1. I said Tommy's bass playing is mediocre. But punk bass players tend to be so. Duff is also bad. Tommy is worse because he has never written a memorable bass line in his life.

Lol you obviously know nothing about the instrument....

or bass guitar music in general

just so you'll hear the bass better. That's not memorable? and Better's bass line, and Street Of Dreams, and Catcher's, and so many bass lines from The Replacements. Don't talk out of your ass.

    :rofl-lol:

What the fuck is that shit? Unlistenable.

This is actually good bass playing, man. The guy even improvising some parts (and he does good imo)

    Nothing to laugh about here

  2. Interesting experience for me
I just listened the album randomly (the songs are in random order) for the 2nd time
There's just so many songs that you can chew on, that you even forgot Myles annoying voice. This is a varied album (which is a surprise for me)
On every listening i discover new tidbits on Slash guitar playing

I'm going that far that i can say: on some song parts when his voice is effected it's actually enjoyable

But overall the first Slash solo record is more bette rthan this album. But WOF blows away AL (and even Libertad, and some Snakepit work)

  3. Without sounding too much like an arrogant cunt, some of you need to get a grip.

Do I believe Axl would like to release some more music at some point? Yes. But do I believe there's a just as big part of him that doesn't want to deal with the hassle? Oh yeah. If it flops/fails, and he has to deal with the "See, I told you he ain't shit without Slash" escapades again (which even to him has to be a very real possibility) it's gonna further destroy what little confidence he has left. In part, I think he's a bit scared. Probably better off for his mental health if he just continues viva la retirement like he probably will.

In that revolver interview, it seemed to me that he looks at another new album as such a secondary objective compared to the very gung-ho stance he had years ago, and I think the above reasonings are huge as to why.

And obviously, the label. They're never gonna pump anymore money into Axl than they absolutely have to. Unless it revolves a reunion or nostalgia. Plain and simple. And honestly who can blame them? On top of the stunt Axl pulled last time around, no matter what anyone says, the biggest reason cd had as much sales endurance as it did was because of the mysterious vibes. "First gnr album in over a decade!" "Most expensive album ever made!l "I wonder what it'll sound like without Slash!". There's NONE of that this time. The only people who care, are us. Which is pretty nothing overall.

The label ain't gonna get out of its recliner for a comeback album that sounds a whole lot like the last comeback album that crashed and burned.

Axl wants a spectacle surrounding the new nu album. The label lols. Wash, rinse, repeat.

It's like warner (?) bending over backwards for another Gary Cherone fronted Van Halen album. Never gonna happen.

So yeah, all those things considered, I can't possibly see us getting new nu music unless the label can milk it as "Axl's Final Years!" sadly. Or if it leaks. Just a smidge more likely to happen than a reunion. And, well, better luck getting struck by lighting and attacked by a shark at the same time.

Good luck to those still hoping though. I genuinely do hope I'm wrong. I just highly, highly doubt I am.

what if he doesn't give a shit anymore just release at some point in the next 3-4 years?

a potential 30th anniversary of the brandname is coming, just sayin'

he basically lose his stamina and his trademark voice and not getting much younger...

i think he will just drop it from 3-4 years from now on...

then tour until 2020-21, then retire

This a playlist I put together on soundcloud. It follows the rise and fall and subsequent 2nd coming of GnR. Clocking in at just under 10 hours. Hope you get some enjoyment out of it. I want to thank Mr. Street of dreams and gnrbootlegs and all the other people who posted all the great tracks.

    Cool

let me throw this channel, rarities, great memories, stonger performances

  5. Axl is far too comfortable, that's the problem, he also does not seem to hold himself accountable for the continuing success of GNR, like Corgan and Mustaine, they feel the goddamn NEED, vital and stabbing, to persist and delve into the treacherous waters of keeping the band ''current'' and ticking over, this guy seems to have removed himself from the nagging nucleus he once slotted himself in, he has his fingers, only his, on all the buttons but he stays placid and satisfied. BBF has tried to coax him out, get the aggression in progression back but failed, if a guy of 6+ years can't do it, who can? Finck, Slash and Buckethead all leaped across the land when they realized he wasn't responding, the leaks seemed to prod him into action for CD, I just don't comprehend the guy's inability for creation, we all know he has plenty of cash and likes the same tour with little surprises thrown in (instigated by Bumblefoot)... he needs some kinda motivation since his timescale is skewered and let's be honest, somewhat deluded. New GNR has had several opportunities in several periods of time, to exceed expectations but it has stalled due to Mr Rose.

Axl lives inside his bubble. If he feels like doing something he'll seriously try, but if he thinks it's not the right time, or for whatever (insane) reason he's just not feeling it, nothing will convince him to act, to make a move. He'll just think about it some more, come back to it later. Everything takes years cause Axl has the power to live that way: to not consider what other people think is the right way of doing things (it's actually the right way imo)

No limitations, and total control can lead you to nothing. Nothing gets done, or at least it takes so long to reach the end of the process that it becomes irrelevant and people quit on you cause they don't have the time to fuck around cause they're not insane/don't have that kind of money/got families/are prolific/give a fuck.

Best post here on a long time

  6. I hated Breakdown the first time I heard it, love it now.

    This

Plus it took me a lot of time to get into Think About You

I hate Cooper's part in The Garden but the rest is so good.

that's why I love the live versions so much more...plus they add a some subtleties to the song that the studio version lacks

I just listened the first live performance of The Garden and get what you're said

  7. One question: Locomotive came from the Shoreline Amphitheatre with an AWESOME sound quality....
can you Poin Me in the right direction for the full bootleg of this show?
Volume and quality is one of the best (IF NOT THE BEST) GNR bootleg of all time
I heard the Locomotive debut on another recording of this show, but that was much lesser quality
Pls i really want to hear this show with this quality in full

  8. Slash2baz, I just wanna say, in behalf of myself and all my alter egos, thanks for making the wait for Slash's album easier with your updates and helping nature. Appreciated.

    What Rovim said

It's really cool that we follow this album from the recording process and 200 pages later the full thing is out....

Hands down for Slash2baz, Gibbo and EVERYBODY who participate in here

  9. what's the general consensus thus far? best slash solo record so far? or nah? how's it rank compared to GN'R?

    Too

    many

    songs...

Myles is so annoying, but overall this album kicks some serious ass if you like Slash guitar playing after GNR

Of course nowhere near as good as GNR material (some tracks blow VR away, imo), but Slash bust out some pretty good riffs and solos here and the whole band is tight as fuck

I'm afraid that the too many songs plus Myles ruined it for me a bit, but still MONSTER riffs here sometimes

A must have album even for haters like broski or volcano or bacardi (just for the guitar playing's sake)
