  1. What did the Ritz influence? Who is it important to apart from a bunch of nostalgic 40-somethings on YouTube clamoring for a reunion?

Ritz 88 is what casual fans always point to as GNR's greatest show. Its the only show they know. In reality it wasn't even amongst the best concerts they played on that tour. I appreciate that its the best visual representation that exists of that era of the band, but soundwise its one of the sloppiest gigs GNR ever played in my opinion. I don't think any of the band (save for Steven of course) are particularly proud of that gig.

    yeah you're right

A lot of 88 shows were better (Felt Forum, Iowa show, Japanese shows, Australian shows etc.)

But bacardi's comments make me wonder what the actual fuck does he do on here other than bashing the band that make those 80's-90's songs that made Axl and the others famous and he constantly bash the living shit out of them....

Ritz might be considered a "sloppy" show, but to this day you are hard pressed to find better performances of jungle, scom, paradise city, ise, my michelle, and knockin'.

Marquee 87 for all of them. They were so much tighter while still having all the energy.

Felt Forum 88 as well. Maybe the best performance of the AFD era.

    Those 87 shows were great

    This Hammersmith show was magical

Zakk Wylde saw the Felt Forum show :headbang:

  2. What's wrong with a delicious Spaghetti? :shrugs:

I always get hungry when i saw the cover

maybe Axl became fat because he looks too much for the TSI? album cover?

    WTF

maybe he gets hungry everytime he starred on the album cover on his mansion and call Beta to make him some Spaghetti and some other goodies? for 6-7 years straight? :shrugs:

  3. Watching Ritz 1988 show again fo the first time in a while, thought i'd do a poll on these two shows - generally perceived as the best/most favoured 'Classic GN'R' shows.

    So - take your pick.

I go for Ritz 1988. Although Paris has more UYI tunes, I've always found myself preferring Ritz out of the two. A short, sharp and powerful show.

I don't dislike Paris, but i've never got the love for it as much as others. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry on Mama Kin is greatl, but the other guest performances never did much for me - probably would say otherwise had Jeff Beck actually managed to perform Locomotive.

I prefer Ritz 88, cause that is a real rock n' roll band

Paris was great, especially the Always on the run tune and Aerosmith, but overall too much shit going on... These days i rarely listen to the UYI circus band, sorry...

If Locomotive performed (regardless from Jeff Beck) i would vote Paris though

Overall you think there was too much shit going on?

Yet your favorite moments are the one's where the most shit is going on.

    Go figure.

    WUT

One of my fav is Locomotive and we don't even have a decent pro shot live performance. I mean shit is the horns two keyboards, etc. I don't hate those concerts just nowadays i get bored when i saw them

The UYI tour was really good when Izzy was stil with them (more songs, rotated setlist, crazy performances and renditions of the songs)

    That's all

    Go figure Dude

  4. ^^ Well that's too bad for you, because I'm for it. And since you mentioned supporters, I'm just going to keep shouting the praises of it (moreso than usual).

Whatever floats on your boat, bro :headbang:

Btw i just don't like Myles when he do ballads. Sounds extremely generic and cheesy for me

On rockers he can be tolerable (sometimes good)

I saw on the Alter Bridge board that you can apparently buy sarafi inn right now on itunes.

Only in the US, but you can listen to a 90 seconds preview.

From those 90 seconds this is my least favourite this far.

Hmm it seems not a good track...

anyway i just wait for the last 2 weeks for the full album, no more leaks for me :)

  5. Nothing to do with duff. He gets better the more shows he does in a tour. People slated his openimg shows in south america and loved him at the end of vegas...

Look at 2011, opening show at Rio wasnt great. The last 2 shows in 2011 were proshot in LA and they were 10x the Rio show.

Plus he seems to be in a good mood and he looks less bloated and cracking more jokes, huh bro?

Although i agree the last few Vegas shows was great. and seeing Duff performing with the band is always great

  6. If they filming a long ass video for a long ass track then Locomotive would be a better choice. But at that time Axl rules the band with the extremely cheese and dated videos and ideas...
Fuck that i like GNR because of the rockers, not because the cheesy ballads

Sorry to burst some peoples bubble here, but what are you calling artistic progression is nowhere near found on these trilogy

  8. I kinda like this show, but the storyboard seems too slow.. I hope it will improves
Finally Vasilij including... I fucking hate the guy with the glasses i'm glad he is dead (although it was a pretty bad scene overall)

(if you are gonna complain about spoilers then don't fucking click on this thread :) )

  9. I wish I was him.

    i was him once.

That was the point when you buried your reputation as a poster on these forums, bro

izzy didn't leave because he was sober

izzy left for a myriad or reasons

among them, basically because izzy was tired of dealing with prima donna axl

    - axl didn't show up for shows

    - axl was constantly late for shows when he showed up

    - axl lateness was causing riots

    - axl lateness was causing the band to lose money

    - axl asked izzy to sign a contract in which izzy was supposed to make less money because he didn't "move enough" onstage

etc etc etc etc etc etc

and we don't know half the real truth

  10. I feel like losing Steven may have ruined some of the more rock n roll songs but Matt worked well on Nov Rain, YCBM, Estranged, Don't Cry.

Yeah his work on November Rain, YCBM, and Estranged was cool. Don't Cry though? stiff. Kinda stiff. Steven said he had a beautiful, delicate drum ideas for Don't Cry. We'll never know. But even before I've read about it, I didn't care for Matt's work on it.

Listen any live version from the AFD days or the demo i posted....

Nah, I've listened to the live versions. I meant what it would have sounded like in the studio, and all the production etc. No studio version.

Anyway what does it mean "delicate" in the world of drums? :D

It's Steven Adler and words. What did you expect? why are there clouds in the sky? there is no reason!

Hey Steven what is the current date?

    Steven: 1988 or 1991?

  12. Wasted has touched on this before, but the thing about Chinese Democracy is each song is like an album itself. Basically, you could say that CD1 is like 14 albums. That's essentially an album a year when you break it down.

That's lowballing it even. TWAT is at least two songs in one, therefore two albums. Same with Catcher and SOD. Prostitute has gotta be at least three. Scraped is only 1/3 of a song, though, but overall it's still closer to 20 albums.

I might be underestimating it, but I was referring to how most of the tracks seem like there are several different songs within each one. I'm not saying that each song is necessarily an album, but that most of the songs have several songs packed within the song therefore equaling an album. Better could be a double album on its own though. Basically, I'm just trying to look at things objectively.

This one song equals one album thing is the best way of trolling i ever saw on any GNR board

also kudos for bumping a 3 year old april fool's joke thread on August

We're saying the same thing. Objectively, 20-30 albums.

Maybe that's why Bumble suggested they just release one at a time.

Dude! I can't believe how prolific Axl is! fuck! it's almost too much. Chill a little. It's like he's always working. Hey Axl! slow your roll. There is plenty of time.

This I Love is like 50 Elton John albums, all coming at you at once, and just as gay.

    I lolled so hard

  14. When people say this or that is a bad video, do they base their opinion on what exactly? On their studies in cinematography, photography and film? Do any of the people saying it is a bad video EVER wrote the script for any video documentary, short film or movie?

    Just wondering....

    Nope

Just some people have some "proper" taste (a thing what many posters here are lacking when it comes to the videos)

Anyway music videos are almost pointless now in rock music, so who the fuck cares? :axl:
