  1. I don't know how they record these streams or whatever but it always sounds pretty bad and like its missing something.Like I guarantee a good video from Youtube from one of these same clips will sound much better and just a fuller sound,it would be nice if these recordings captured that overall live sound.Axl's microphone sounds like it came out of a cereal box in these recordings.

On soundboards you can hear Axl more clearly, which makes it easier to realize how bad he often sounds. In YouTube videos, there's often reverb that makes it hard to hear the details of Axl's voice.

If thats the case they should put some recording devices in the building and get what the people at the shows hear streamed, its just a better sound.

  3. get rid of a jam, throw in a new song and everyones happy

Everyone is only happy for a very short amount of time, and the whole setlist thing starts again within a week or two. That being said I wouldn't mind hearing an old song or something new being played, and I'm also looking forward to a new album, but I don't sit around ready to take a nervous breakdown over it like some people.I find you hear alot of bands and other performers bringing up the fact that fans are complaing about the setlists they play,it's a product of the youtube generation,it's something these performers never had to deal with in the old days, people didn't have the option of following their favorite band or performer all over the world from the comfort of home, where most of the critisism originates.Bottom line is somebody will always be complaining it will never stop.
  4. FYI pinned thread for the SETlist inspectors.

yeah but that topic is locked - for the mods to put any setlist discussion to garbage and out of context? its eating a lot of fans obviously and should be discussed.

If a Gnr setlist is eating at you or anyone else, I suggest maybe taking a break from following every show online for a while, and maybe check back every so often and see if something new has been played, and if it has it will be a bonus, and if there's nothing different you wouldn't have missed a thing. It's a win win situation.
  5. How has attendance been at the first 2 shows?

Last night was full. I was in the balcony, all full to the last section. Sides were full. And the floor was full. Before the show I saw lots of people in line to buy tickets. All in all, it will be a success! Screw the haters who thought other wise.

Nice to know there was a full house enjoying the show, bet it was a good time had by all.
  6. Nice show last night, lots of hits, some fan favorites, some covers and I like the flying piano.Friends of mine are heading down from Nova Scotia to see Gnr next week and get some gambling in on the side.Needless to say they are excited and I'm a bit jealous. On a sidenote we had local radio contests which offered trips to see Neil Young,Paul Macartney,GNR as well as various other prizes and you got to choose just one, I was kinda suprised at how many people wanted the Gnr package it was definetly one of the most popular prizes which was pretty cool.

  7. The entire band sounds pretty friggin good in the videos I've watched so far.In YCBM I could care less if Axl sings the song in the heavy rasp voice or whatever,I do however think if he would sing it in a bit lower it would sound that much better,in my humble opinion.Overall I think he sounds really good, and its a great start to the Vegas shows.

  8. It was a really bad performance, but just like if you have a favorite sport team that blows a game or series etc, should you keep looking back at it dwelling on that performance or get over it and move on and support what the team has done and will do since then. You can find great shows and bad shows from every era of Gnr.I like to concentrate on the performances that show they were and still are the best band in the world imo, with a few glitches here and there.

  9. Some interesting information from Austria:

Both dates for the Led Zeppelin Reunion Movie are nearly sold out (only front row seats left).

For the GnR Show - which will be shown 1 week later - there have been 15 (!) reservations until now....

I wouldn't even know about the Gnr show if it wasn't for checking out the forums. But really there is no doubt the Led Zeppelin reunion concert is going to do more buisness regardless.Just a sidenote that Plant really doesn't sound very good judging from the trailers.I'll have to go watch it when it comes out, maybe it's just the clips they used.

  10. Least we finally will get a pro-shot DVD that we always yearned for. I'm not complaining that it's not a 2010 show really, we are lucky to get anything from Guns!

I think overall this sounds and looks very cool.I know comments on youtube you have to take with a grain of salt and some are just hateful but if you check out comments from 2010 from say The Reading festival when axl sang with heavy rasp there is alot of complaining about how he sounds as well, same with other concert videos from 2010.To tell you the truth when I used to put on the Tokyo vids in the old days for friends, some liked them and others said they sounded terrible.I'm pretty sure there will never be a performance that suits everyones style.

  11. To the original poster, Def Leppard and Motley Crue are as big of a draw or bigger then Guns so I'm not sure why they were used In your example. As a matter of fact aren't Guns following In Motley Crues footsteps with the whole Vegas residency thing.

A comparison of Def's, Motley's and Gun's last album sales figures, show how very little you know.

What the fuck does album sales have to do with the venue size and how many fans show up at the concerts.

Both GN'R and Motley toured in 2010, but you won't find Motley on Pollstar's list of the 50 biggest tours (in terms of revenue) for 2010, but you do find GN'R grossing $39.7 mill. Def Leppard toured in 2009, but grossed a lot less in that year than GN'R did in 2010 ($25.9 mill vs. $39.7 mill). So I dunno....

EDIT: While searching some more I did find a complete list for 2011 in North America with Motley grossing more than GN'R ($21.1 mill vs $11.2 mill). So it seems Motley may be more popular than GN'R in the US, but that GN'R is able to draw bigger crowds outside of the US.

nice job at actually doing the research Instead of just making claims as certain members seem to do. I would definitely agree with Motley being bigger In the states and Guns being bigger overseas.

Motley toured with Poison and Newyork dolls so you draw in their fan base and generate more revenue.
