  1. It's disappointing. But in the big picture not a really big deal. The induction only seems like such a huge event because of what we've built it up into with all the discussion.

On the plus side, the letter does seem to indicate a commitment to more New Guns stuff. He still seems like he has something to prove with it by declining his induction. That's your number one sign he's going to release new music.

do you think anyone cares about "New" Guns N Roses

what little fans actually cared about hearing New Guns will definitely go down after this

  2. I cant get over how pissed Axl is when giving his "not in this lifetime" response

    that is a definitive no

Axl has no desire to ever see those guys again much less ever play with them

I cant imagine Axl showing up on Saturday

my prediction it will be everyone but Izzy and Axl

maybe you get Kid Rock playing Paradise City with the old guys

and if that happens I will throw up

    I know... :rofl-lol:

I just feel sorry for those fans who a travelling from far places to see this thing live, expecting to see THE GN'R reunion.

All they are going to see is a few ex members like Slash, Duff, Matt and Steven..... and then a crap performance with either Donovan or another person who is there.

I am one of those fans

basically making a 9 hour trip

I aint gonna lie, I am expecting there not to be a reunion, but hoping there will be one, if I hear a definitive "No Reunion" before the trip it will kill the 9 hour drive, even Axls "Not in my lifetime" I can convince myself of a chance as he answered to a "tour"

I will however be sick if the highlight of the evening is seeing Kid Rock singing with the old guys

I hate Kid Rock and to see him being the front man as the main attraction singing with the old GNR in place of Axl will be salt in a wound, I will probably go to the bathroom if that happens

  4. Does nobody else think it's just a little odd that the dude goes however many years NEVER being shot by the paps and now the week before the HOF thing he's seen at a very public place with a very public person? Just kinda like when he just happened to hit that pap photog in the airport right before the Asian tour? By the way, no arrests were made and no charges were ever filed on that, were they? He's playing the modern day PR game and it builds a little buzz before something happens. No slamming here, I think it's a good thing and means he's going to Cleveland. Probably not to play, but at least he'd be there.

And for him to get that svelte this fast since the end of the UCAP tour, he'd need to have been doing cardio for 6 hours a day and living on cocaine. He looks GREAT but I'd bet he had a little surgical assistance. His right, I don't blame him at all after the Rio shit storm. I'd do the same thing if I was in his shoes.

actually, I think Axl deliberately showed his face in public because he knew Paps would be around, and he knew he would ask about the HOF

The fact no paps asked him about the HOF but when asked about a "reunion tour" he gave a angry "not in my lifetime"

tells me Axl was prepared to say a similar thing if asked about a reunion at the HOF, and if they asked Axl if he was gonna go I bet he would have said no

Just the fact Axl seemed so angry when responding about the chance of a reunion, tells me he has no intention to see these people on Saturday

I have a feeling Axl is not gonna show up

  5. no I want to see Guns N Roses play Guns N Roses

anything short of Guns N Roses playing Guns N Roses will be a disappointment

what an insult it will be if I travel 10 hours and have to settle for Green Day playing Paradise city or something else

  6. Appetite was the first album I ever got sometime in the late 80s

Since then I was hooked on em, even in the mid 90s when GNR was not popular at all I was still loyal to them

When Axl and his New band came around in 2002 it was awesome and I have been seeing them since

however if I hear that Axl refuses to play with the old guys in Cleveland next month, it will probably break my loyalty to this band, and if that happens I will probably just wait around until the old guys did ever get back together again

  7. You think Slash wouldn't play a few songs with GNR at the show if Axl wanted to? Are you kidding?

According to his own words, Axl never said that he didn't want to. It's pretty hard for Axl to have said that to him when they haven't talked.

Slash is saying they won't play because he doesn't want to.

Slash did this on his own. Put blame where it belongs for once.

exactly, I lost alot of respect for Slash

I always thought Axl was the "bad" guy

But basically in this interview Slash pretty much said we are not playing

had he said "well I'd like to play, but some members do not want to play" I am sure that would have been a sign and we all know what he meant, but basically he took the authority and said they are not gonna play

whatever like I said I am done with this band

Slash is coming to where I live in May and I am not even gonna see him

  8. incredibly tempted to sell my tickets now

    How much

I dont know, I will see what market value is on Stubhub, I imagine prices will plummet once word gets out about their being no "reunion"

I love how Slash always makes believe that he does not understand the public's fascination with Guns N Roses and it was something in his "past"

I hate to break it to you Slash, but you and everyone knows Guns N Roses is the only reason people care about you

I aint gonna lie, if they do not perform at the Rock N Roll hall of fame I think I am done with this band and everyone in it, including ex-members

I think he's just tired of being asked about a band and former singer he's had nothing to do with in 16 years. That's all it is.

whatever, we all know that is the only reason people care about him, GNR was the biggest band in the world for about 5 years and probably the last of these mega bands that took over the world

He always has to make believe like he does not understand the public's fascination with Guns N Roses

Just embrace it you fake bastard

  9. I love how Slash always makes believe that he does not understand the public's fascination with Guns N Roses and it was something in his "past"

  10. Paul Shaffer say's he didn't post a tweet saying GN'R would not play at HOF (pretty strong denial, and some bigwigs are behind it....something big is going down a HOF, a strong rejection of the statement attributed to him seems like the Big $$ and HOF folks caught wind of this quick and wanted to squelch the rumor).

PAUL SHAFFER's GUNS N' ROSES 'Rock Hall' Tweet Did Not Come From PAUL SHAFFER - Mar. 8, 2012

A tweet that was posted on the "official" Twitter account of Paul Shaffer, the longtime David Letterman musical director and sidekick, regarding GUNS N' ROSES' appearance at next month's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony did not come from Shaffer himself, according to a spokesperson for the company in control of the account.

Michael Lichtstein, the Vice President of Programming at Envision Radio Networks, which for the past five years has been producing "Paul Shaffer's Day In Rock", a daily 60-second vignette illustrating the history of rock according to Shaffer, has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"I am writing to set the record straight on a story Blabbermouth printed earlier this evening [Thursday, March 8]. The story quoted Paul Shaffer's Twitter account as saying GUNS N' ROSES would not be performing at this year's induction ceremony. Please know this tweet did not come from Mr. Shaffer, as his Twitter account is in conjunction with his syndicated radio feature with our network, and all tweets are handled by one of our staff members. No one is exactly sure what will happen at the induction ceremony, and we apologize for the inadvertent tweet."

Shaffer has served as musical director and producer for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony since its inception in 1986.

The tweet in question, which has since been deleted (see copy below), was a response to a query about the length of this year's ceremony. "GUNS N' ROSES will not be performing, so [the ceremony will] not [be] as long as you would think," the tweet read.

GUNS N' ROSES keyboardist Dizzy Reed recently told Billboard that all five original members of the band will be present at the induction ceremony. Reed revealed, "I know that all the original band is going to be there. I don't know exactly what's going to go down. It's one of those things I'm sure will all come together and be really cool. I'm just going to go in with a good attitude and a clear head and a grateful heart."

Singer Axl Rose, guitarists Slash and Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Steven Adler will all be inducted into the Hall, along with later members Reed and drummer Matt Sorum.

With more than 20 years of service, Reed is the longest-standing member of the current GUNS lineup after sole original holdout Axl Rose. He told The Pulse Of Radio that whatever happens at the Hall, he's already honored by the whole thing, "There's a lot of great, great people that I respect and grew up admiring and idolizing that are in that, as part of that institution, and obviously just to be mentioned in the same breath as them, you know, for this band and everything, I take it as an honor."

As for whether any combination of the eight musicians will get together for a jam or full-blown reunion at the induction ceremony, Reed said, "Honestly, we haven't spoken about it. I don't know when or why or how to bring it up. It's not an everyday sort of thing. So we haven't really talked about it — but I'm sure we'll have to at some point."

Although Rose has made his peace with various members of the group over the years, including McKagan, Stradlin and Adler, there doesn't seem to be any change in his non-friendly stance toward Slash.

Slash, McKagan, Sorum and Adler have all expressed uncertainty about the possibility of a reunion at the ceremony.

if you ask me, I am sure the "bigwigs" told Shaffer to shut up, because there is probably alot of money to be made in Cleveland at even the chance of a reunion

an announcement of no reunion means alot of people will cancel their trips and alot of people will not care

But since there is a buzz about a chance of a reunion, alot of people will be making the trip to take in the atmosphere of Cleveland, because even if they do not have tickets to the event itself, they still want to be in the atmosphere, and the Rock N Roll hall of fame is selling tickets for $20 where you can watch the event on large screens at the Hall Of Fame as it is happening, not to mention all the hotels and restaurants in Cleveland who look forward to this weekend every 4 years as their chance to make money, because Cleveland is usually a dead town

Would not surprise me if Shaffer got some information that there definetly wont be a reunion or some people are not gonna show, but an announcement about that will kill the buzz for the weekend

  11. I just got back from the show and I must say it sucked, mainly because of the venue, if you got there early and were on the floor, or you were able to get a "unobstructed" view, you are lucky

but as for most people I am sure it was a horrible experience, basically most views were obstructed or you could not see the stage at all, and you were packed in like a sardine and could not move or dance without people being right next to you

    what a crappy place

I wish GNR played a bigger club with a bigger floor

I hate this place so much
