  1. Was being in Guns N’ Roses the hardest gig you’ve had? Was the Replacements more difficult?

You know, all of them had their own bits. I wouldn’t say any were any harder than the other. In terms of the Guns N’ Roses record, only because it took so long to get done, at the end of the day it seemed like still Axl wasn’t happy with it and so it kinda got yanked from his hands a little bit prematurely. That’s kind of a disappointment to me more than anything. All things considered, I think we all did our best job, put our best foot forward, and there’s that record, you know?

You obviously played on Chinese Democracy and toured behind it. What’s your take on that record?

I think there’s some good stuff, I think there’s some not-so-good stuff and I think that probably could be said for all those Guns records. There’s some stuff that wasn’t my favorite but that’s just me. But that kinda goes with everyone’s fuckin’ records. I can’t even think of how many bands I like their entire fucking record. They are out there of course but I can’t think of one right now [laughing].

Did wanting to go back to basics like that maybe stem from your experience recording Chinese Democracy? You saw firsthand how that dragged on for years, right?

Yeeaaahhh. Anyone, any musician can fuckin’ overthink things in a fuckin’ heartbeat and just beat the shit out of a song. I’ve seen many a good song ruined in that fashion and sadly it just happens. Musicians are a quirky bunch. Some of us don’t come from the greatest places, aren’t in the greatest fuckin’ headspace all the time so you gotta try and capture that magic in a bottle when you can. It’s hard to accomplish because getting what’s in your head on a fuckin’ record is completely…[laughs]…it’s our hardest gig we’ve got as musicians is tryin’ to get the ideas in the brain on the fuckin’ disk.  It just takes a lot to pull that out and get it where they want it, exactly where they want it, where they fuckin’ think it’s supposed to be, the way it’s supposed to sound. All that.

Do you prefer just chilling out and touring without so much of the gear that comes with the huge Guns N’ Roses shows and Replacements reunion shows?

I like all of it for different reasons. I’ll be honest with you, I am stoked about the Guns N’ Roses reunion. All those guys are my buddies, except I don’t really know Slash. I don’t think I’ve ever met him. But all those guys are my friends and I’m glad they’re out doing it but I’d be lying if I said I missed that gig. I miss the people a whole lot and obviously you miss the fans and stuff like that. But where I’m at in life right now, that’s just a whole thing that…I’m not saying I’d never do it again but I’m kind of glad I moved on from that.

Man, I've always detested the RATM "guerrilla" schtick.

    Sony records presents...

Yes Morello and Commerford are a bunch of hacks. Also the fact Chris Cornell agreed to reunite Audioslave for this to really cash in.

  3. GNR?

Donald Trump shut down negotiations to get a huge rock band at one of his Inaugural balls ... in order to cut costs and potentially save tens of millions for charity.

Inauguration sources tell us the Committee was close to landing a legendary group -- one that's in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame -- but when the President-elect found out they wanted more than $1 million for the gig he pulled the plug. We're told Trump implored the rockers to reduce their appearance fee -- but when they refused he told the Inaugural Committee to move on to other artists.

Mind you, there's plenty of dough. The Committee's reportedly received more than $90 million in donations, but we're told Trump instructed all involved to keep expenses in the low millions because whatever is left over is going to charity.

As we reported ... the Liberty Ball and Freedom Ball will now feature soul legend Sam Moore, as well as Grammy nominee Travis Greene. While organizers are tight-lipped aboutnaming all the acts, our sources say you can expect an eclectic lineup -- ranging from dance to country to gospel -- and everyone's doing it for free or a greatly reduced rate.

We're told planners had only 2 directives: make it diverse and do it on the cheap.

I'm more familiar with Ozzy / Rhoads era than I am with Sabbath.

Anyone care to point me in the right direction?

Easy just listen to the 6 first albums (BS, Paranoid, Master Of Reality, Vol.4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath & Sabotage). They're all masterpieces for their own good, all mammoth riffs and magnificent vocals.

Then jump on the Dio train with Heaven & Hell and Mob Rules.

    -

If too lazy, Paranoid & Heaven & Hell.

    -

If too lazy listen to After Forever, Sabbra Cadabra, Snowblind, The Thrill of It All, Hand Of Doom, N.I.B., Neon Knight, Voodoo.

    -

    Personal favourite: SBS, Sabotage, H&H.

The other stuff are great, but just hard to begin with. I think Axl's favourite was Technical Ecstasy.

I imagine it's just a modernised version of the logo, which I must say; the graphic designer has done a fabulous job on.

Yes! There are also newest versions with different kind of weapons (shotguns, katana etc.).

But from last year we went from this

    to this

    to the new ones.

  6. Dj was clearly underrated around here. It was a chaotic mess to have Bumble and him in the same band, that idea of a three guitarists band was just awful to start with.

You don't need Fortus/Tobias when you have Buckethead and Robin.

You don't need bumblefoot when you have Robin and Fortus.

Well, having Dj and Bumblefoot together was way too odd anyway. One lacked star power, one lacked skills. Axl should have gotten John 5 instead.

Just a feeling, but I think it's a full album or nothing. You can't make a statement with 1 tune, which is what I think Axl is aiming for.

Maybe as a pre-album single to launch the real thing later. Marvel loves AC/DC and Black Sabbath, why not GN'R? Body Of Lies wasn't that of a success because the band work best with blockbusters (End Of Days/T2).

It also seems strange not to do a record with Fortus and Dj who would obviously go through walls for Axl in the studio. Maybe though Axl realised that no matter how good the intentions it might not be good enough. So getting Slash and Duff back seems like the only way to get new material.

So the Fortus/Dj record was CDIII? I think this is what Axl meant by CDII and CD Remix already done and working on "newest stuff". Are we looking at a double album?
