  1. I expected more from you, Graeme. From now on I bring up Braveheart whenever I can.

People always expect more from me, I never get to have any fun... Someone else hits out with an innuendo and people roll their eyes, but if I do it "GRAEME!? Wtf man?"

This is basically a hive of scum and villainy and you are the last glimmer of hope in the darkness

But saying that, ask and you shall receive...

If appreciating that is what corruption feels like then my slide to the dark side is truly underway...

    I really shouldn't but....

  2. Ok, so I suspected that my guy friend was a bit of a flirt. But I just boiled it down to him enjoying innuendo or a dirty joke. But I went to the races and he commented on the photo on FB that my friend and I look hot. No problem, we dressed up. But I bumped into him in the pub tonight looking like crap and he's just messaged me saying I 'looked hot as always'.

    Men, please explain!

    Basically it means this

  4. The Churchill one makes sense, the burger one is a fuckin pisstake quite frankly, for a peoples that are easily offended and quick to misinterpret things as blasphemous or otherwise offensive they should use their fuckin' loaf a bit.

    It's bizarre alright.

  5. I don't think mentioning Bobby Sands has ever helped anyone out of anywhere y'know

haha not in your neck of the woods anyway

You know about this Len don't you?

    http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/bobby-sands-burgers-tehran-545

Surely thats not serious?!? Fuckin' wankers.

It is serious. They also renamed the street where the British Embassy is from Winston Churchill Street to Bobby Sands Street.

    A fuckin burger gaff though?

    I know, I know...

And the inside is painted orange

I'd like to think that Bobby Sands would overlook the inappropriateness of it, he'd certainly get a kick out of the embassy thing

Actually the other day the Ayatollah lad was venerating him on twitter of all places

  6. Is it not at all possible that Ashba departed because some deal was worked out behind the scenes?

    Let's backtrack a bit here:

Bumblefoot was both unwilling, really, and unable, to talk about his status in the band. He seemed to be wanting the leave the door open; I think he even said he wasn't ready to close out that long of a chapter in his life.

We've heard rumors that Bumble and DJ didn't get along; that Bumble resented DJ being paid more etc and other things like that.

Is it possible that a condition of Bumble staying, was DJ leaving? And once Ashba's SIXX AM plans solidified - being on tour for the next tour years - some sort of deal was broken?

Is it possible that maybe behind the scenes, Robin or someone rejoined and Ashba was asked politely to resign? Not in any bitter way, but in a very amicable, mutually agreed split?

Is it possible DJ read this forum one day, was overwhelmed by the #bullies, and asked Axl if he could resign?

I don't think the band is being so much "dumped" by Ashba. I think there must've been some sort of mutual agreement, something behind the scenes we don't know of, for it to have been handled so publicly. When is the last time you remember any GN'R member saying they left publicly? Even when Robin left, he made no statement of it.

The last member to publicly they say they parted company with Guns was Slash - and we saw Axl's reaction to that: An angry, rambling fax.

DJ announces his departure and meanwhile Axl is writing snarky tweets about Snoop Dog - not seeming none too perturbed by it.

I think the band knew about it well in advance and it might even have been arranged on some level. There's more here than meets the eye.

Maybe that's what Fernando and his three hour meeting was about.

I told this one girl we 'broke up' and she still thinks we are together sometimes though?

    Wayne?

  7. This is a lot like Gunner and tonyroboto getting banned. At first, you feel relieved not to have to read their bullshit anymore. But then, you start missing the laughter they caused. Now that DJ is gone, there won't any Hogan ears anymore, no more burnt guitars, no more mediocre reeditions of Slash's solos. DJ was hilariously bad, looked like a goth clown and his use for hashtags were disgusting but if it weren't for the guy, there wouldn't be the banner tranny, the hashtag jokes, SCOM out of tune... I'll miss the guy, since GNR became a circus, he was by far the funniest clown.

It is a great loss...to laughter

  8. Reminder here of certain Persian cuisine

Be prepared for a lot of "Iranian... Iranian... Iranian...":

People ask her where she is from and when she says Iran the reactions are hilarious.

Eyes open wide and a look of horror/fear

I told her to say Persia or she'll get a fucking complex about herself.

She tried it out last night, the reaction instead was that polite smile mixed with total fucking confusion.

"Oh Persia, like rugs and cats...coool"

Which I suppose beats - "Iran...like amadjin amaginibab ahma...that mad guy who wants a nuke?"

Then again I told her to just mention Bobby Sands and the embassy and it will get her out of any situation that's uncomfortable

  9. Heading to a Lebanese restaurant tomorrow with the bird. Should be interesting

Lebanese food is delicious, that'll shut up any political commentary ;)

It was delicious. Reminder here of certain Persian cuisine and the Lebanese wine was delicious. Major bonus points for me

Your womenfolk were not exactly nuns either if you understand my point - although some of them were dressed as nuns on one occasion. But this must be the latest thing in Ireland, ''let's go to Newcastle, England and get hammered''. Nice people but you know the Irish: never one Guinness away from a polemical conversation about politics. ''Feckin Thatcher'' ''Must go - I've a bus to catch''.

Going to Newcastle has been a thing for a long time now. It tends to attract a certain type though, girls who think Cheryl Cole is a classy bird and a kebab at 3am is the epitome of fine dining.

  10. The latest thing here is actually, the Irish. A lot of Irish stag and hens have started landing. Honest to got, this is true (it sounds like some 'Oirish cliche) but I passed one drunken specimen outside The Gate in Newcastle ranting about 'Thatcher' in a brogue.

  11. For a man unconcerned with being cool Towelie he had an acute predeliction towards trend following y'know.

Depends how you look at it. In his prime, he was setting trends, not following them. And then some of the songs in his catalogue, such as this one (and I can name dozens of others) really sound as if he has no interest in following trends. Put it this way, you would never get Madonna recording something this passe.

He was kinda like souley when soul was the thing, discoey when disco was the thing, then new jack swing when that was the thing, then when hip hop was the pop of the day he's getting with Murder Inc (crap choice by the way ).

I suppose the flipside to that is each and everyone of those musical movements kinda held him up as a fuckin' God to begin with anyway (lesser so hip hop but his shadow still loomed somewhat large there) so, yeah, if they can be influenced by him then he's kinda one of the godfathers of their thing to begin with so I suppose it's kinda reciprocal..sort of.

I think a lot of that stuff was pushed on him by his label to be honest. I see a song like this as far more legitimately Michael Jackson - the man who listened almost exclusively to classical music and famously said in all sincerity that his favourite song of all time was My Favourite Things from The Sound of Music. He was never afraid to be himself, as deathly "uncool" as it was at times.

Yeah, he did work with the trendy producers of the day as well, but even on those albums, he'd sneak on Disney-esque showtunes, choral choirs and classically-inspired murder ballads. His 90s work was a lot more eclectic than he is given credit for, especially when you consider his contemporaries of the day (Madonna, Prince, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston etc) were busy chasing R&B trends, an album like HIStory is a million miles away from what his peers were doing back in 1995.

If you read Walter Yetnikoff and Tommy Mottola's books, they wrote a lot about working with Michael Jackson, but I think the timing of Mottola running Sony and Michael's career starting to go into decline didn't help.

A lot of the crowd frenzy they've used in some of the footage was staged. Funny thing - he came to San Diego a lot and somehow the paparazzi never bothered him. Debbie lived there, Deepak's office was based out of there (George Harrison and Michael Jackson did hang out), Janet lived up in Rancho Santa Fe, one of his kids was born there, but he had no problem being left alone.

Howling at the Moon is fucking hilarious
