  1. Howard should fuck off and let the current Guns N' Roses line-up continue. Seriously, people need to get their heads out of their asses, it's been almost 20 years.

No. What should happen is Howard should interview Axl (no subjects off limits and none of Axl's "handlers" allowed...that'd be kick ass.

  2. Old members section :sleeper:

    +1

I said move this if deemed wrong section. Besides- you could say "old members section" for about 90% of threads. Basically every thread talks about a song off of AFD, or UYI or has a Slash reference or Duff or Bucket or Finck. I thought this was kinda an interesting and new interview regarding Slash on Axl. Let the mods moderate where threads should go...I think they can handle it.

  3. Atleast Slash will go on Howard. Axl won't do it...he needs all interviews pre approved by "his people". It would be great though to have Howard actually hammer Axl on some points...would definately be a fascinating interview.

  4. You can also listen to interview on youtube. The following in a basic transcript I came across...i posted here do to the specific Axl questions. Feel free to move if this is the wrong section.

Howard asked what it is that makes Axl hate Slash so much. Slash said they gave up the name to him and no one really gave a shit at the time. He said when Axl started to put together another band and call it Guns N' Roses then it just went bad. He said when he got into Velvet Revolver he was out denouncing Axl and that may have had something to do with it. Slash said he's not real fond of Axl either. He said that he doesn't have time to worry about it. Slash said it's really not a concern of his.

Howard said when he sees a successful band he sees it as one in a million. Slash said that he has seen some old footage of the band and he's surprised it lasted as long as it did. He told Howard when you start losing band members that's when it starts to go bad. He said the chemistry between the original 5 guys is what made it work.

Howard asked if Slash wrote most of the music. Slash said he came in with the riff stuff but as a song writing team they did it together. He said that the songs from a musical point of view kind of really wrote themselves. Slash said that they could take a couple of hours to finish from top to bottom. He said that Axl and Izzy would come up with the lyrics.

Slash said the early stuff came out that way but then the later stuff was different. He said they were all fucked up later on when they did ''Use Your Illusion'' and stuff like that.

Howard asked Slash about how they were late to get on stage a lot. Slash said he can't even explain that. He said they'd go on 3 hours late at times. He said sometimes it was later. Slash said they tried to reel that in with Axl. Slash said they were so disconnected by then that the rest of them would be drinking while Axl was in his own dressing room. He said it would make a great movie to see all of that.

Howard said for his mind if they could go out for a couple of dates and do some shows they get millions of dollars. Howard said you'd think they could put their problems aside. Howard said if Slash and Axl could put their differences aside they could make good money. Slash said it's just not worth it. He said there are too many conflicts of interest. Slash said he was lucky enough to find something he loves to do. He said he loves doing it now but he was miserable back then. He said in the first couple of years it was fine but then it got to be difficult. He said it just wasn't worth it.

Slash told Howard and Robin he went to see a Guns N' Roses show in Vegas but there were instructions to keep him out. He said he was with his wife and they just went to another hotel and partied instead. Howard asked if he drives him nuts to see someone else playing his guitar licks. He said it must be like seeing a cover band. Slash said it's actually flattering. He said he's never actually seen it happen. He's just heard about it. Slash said the guys who kept him out were apologizing and saying they thought it was stupid that they had to keep him out.

Howard said Slash created those great licks and that's what Axl is missing. He said he can hire 50,000 guys to do what Slash did but they can't recreate what goes on in the studio. He said if he could sit down with these fuckers he'd get this thing going. Howard said he knows he could. Slash said he doesn't think anyone cares enough. Howard said he does. Slash said he doesn't though.

  5. Slash gets asked about GNR because he releases music and promotes it. It is a wild concept, I know. But, that is the path he is made for himself. He records, tours and promotes. Slash fans like it this way. In this process, of course he gets asked about GNR. I don't think I need to explain why. Anyway, he wasn't going to be Axl's employee. He has too much talent and too much pride for that. He also probably knew Axl would lead the band nowhere. He was right.

Because even with all of Slash's touring and promoting and recording, Axl has lead the new band to becoming one of the most successful live bands IN THE WORLD.

LOL. They were THE greatest/most sucessful live band. These days they are solid/put on a good show, but not "one of the most successful live bands IN THE WORLD." The most "successful" live bands sell out 18000 seat arenas and select stadiums no problem. IE- Springsteen, Jovi, Metallica, U2, The Stones, Gaga, some country acts, etc....these days what Axl should do is play theatres and smaller venues (8-10000 seats).

  6. Does he care?

    3 hr shows.

You need an asterisk by that. 3 hour shows- yes. 3 hours of Axl - doesn't happen. If Axl himself was actually on stage kicking ass for 3 hours (see Bruce Springsteen or Bon Jovi) that'd be awesome. He disappears to much doing whatever while band plays these jams etc...he could probably play 4-5-6 more songs if he aced out the jams or solos or whataver.

Bon Jovi and Springsteen would croak after doing just WTTJ.

I wasn't trying to start a "Bruce/Jovi vs Axl" deal. I'm just saying Jovi is about 50 and Bruce is ancient (62). Axl should have no prob being on stage and singing for 2.5-3hrs. If he mixed in slow songs (Patience etc...) and some acoustics he'd get plenty of rest or whatever.

  7. Does he care?

    3 hr shows.

You need an asterisk by that. 3 hour shows- yes. 3 hours of Axl - doesn't happen. 8. If Dizzy gets fired what else is he gonna do? :shrugs:

Why does everyone always think that Axl keeps firing band members?!? Sure, Steven and Gilby got fired. What about Matt? I'm not sure. But everyone else JUST LEFT!!!

Maybe all of this "Axl keeps firing everyone"-nonsense has its origin in that interview with Kurt Loder back in ... 1990 oder 1991?!? I guess it was 1991? Kurt said something like "Steven left" and Axl corrected him by saying "He was fired!!!" The way Axl insisted on the fact that Steven didn't leave, but was fired, probably started all this nonsense, I think. Could that be?

Well, anyway. Unless Dizzy decides to leave, I'm sure he remains a gunner. There have been so many gunners throughout the very beginnings (with guys like Tracii) of this band's history, but only 2 or 3 of them ever got fired. Most of them left i.e. most of them were simply "quitters". There, I said it: QUITTERS!!! :xmassrudolph:

He may not have fired everyone but he definitely made staying in the band unbearable for Slash Duff and co.

    Bucket, Finck etc...

  9. I've never understood why he doesn't just put on tickets "band will hit stage between 11PM and 11:30PM. Or whatever half hour window will work for him. Pretty sure the start time isn't what pisses people off rather the fucking 2 hour delay with nothing going on. Most venues (US atleast) cut off booze sales fairly early. By the time he hits stage we're half asleep. If he'd simply state on ticket a realistic 30 minute window for when he'll hit stage we could party at bars etc...rather than sit in some boozeless arena for 2 hours people watching. He loses alot of crowd energy by making us basically fall asleep before the show. Unless he likes to be a "bad ass" by sticking it to us and making us wait...a power trip maybe?

  10. A much happier Axl- Axl, Elton & Bono....God Axl seems happy....none of the anger we see now. And he (allegedly) hated Slash back then....!
