  1. Over the years, Axl Rose has given us plenty of amazing quotes, either from interviews or from rants. What are some of your favorite Axl Rose quotes?

    Mine is:

Life doesn't owe you your own personal happy ending

I think it is a very powerful thing to say. You know, I think we've all been taught to expect our own happy endings in life. It's like, you're going through some rough times and part of you kinda hopes that it'll all be ok and that things will be just fine, because hey... this is my life and I'm the hero of this movie or the main character in this film called my life. But hey, it doesn't always happen. And yes, life doesn't owe you a goddamn thing.

Great quote, Axl. A real eye opener.

  2. Fans share their views on albums. At least where I come from. If I keep hearing an album sucks, chances are I won't buy it. I bought CD, because I am a fan, but when my friends asked me what I thought about it, I said, It's not that good. I'm sure others bought it and they said It sucks . I am sure comments like that will damage an album's reputation.

  3. I don't think lack of promotion had anything to do with it. And I will tell you why. If you're a rock fan, you will buy the album and if you follow a band, you know they are making are record. If you follow a band, you know what they're doing. I don't need no promotion.

I've never been like OMG, Metallica made an album, but I didn't get it cause it got no promotion. If you are a fan, you know what they're doing.

The only thing that will keep me from buying an album is bad word of mouth. Word got around that CD was not THAT good. So people didn't buy it.

  4. it took Axl 14 years to make an album with songs only die hard fans are into, not because they're great but because we're fans and we will like what they do, whether it's good or not, and you guys wonder why CD wasn't a success? :rofl-lol: :rofl-lol: :rofl-lol:

In the time it took Axl to make CD, people forgot about GnR. GnR is a joke to most people. Period. Yes, people go to the shows, to watch the cover band play the songs they fell in love with back in the 80s and 90s. No significant amount of people go to the gigs to see them play the new songs. Nobody cares about GnR anymore.

Only the delusional fanbase, myself included, that post here, could think GnR is still important. They're not.

CD was not succesful because it has terrible songs. It's not about being mature or not. It's not about not having listened to it properly. It's about CD having songs nobody cares about.

If it'd been a great album, it'd have done better. But it's not, so it didn't. :violin:

  5. I think Axl will work on new music after this tour in order to keep DJ in the band, apparently they get along and I don't think he's going to stick around if he can't add anything to the band. BBF seems to be getting tired of the state of the band too and needless to say both of them leaving would be absolutely devastating to the image of the band.

I don't think you can do any more damage to the image of the band. No offense, but GnR is a joke. The only people who still care are those of us that post here and the occasional fan that pays to see them live out of sheer curiosity. But GnR has become a joke. Trying talking about GnR anywhere else on the web. See what happens.

IF BBF and DJ were to leave, die hard fans here would bash them and idolize whomever Axl decided to hire. It could be his hair stylist. It don't matter. He'd be the real thing, the real deal, and blah blah blah.

  6. The level of hate and resentment against the old lineup that permeates this forum is immature and ridiculous. Even worse than at the Megadeth forums. There's a difference between making an occasional joke about a former gunner and actually hating the guy, as if you had actually met him and he had done something to you. You know, loving the new band and idolizing CD and hating the old lineup does not make you a better fan. Grow up, all of you.

And guess what? Disliking songs does not mean you're not a fan. It means you have an opinion and are mature enough to say I don't like this song or that album. Nothing wrong with that? What are you 12?

This song, along with SCOM, helped GnR become what they were in the early 90's, the biggest band in the world. Literally everybody knew who they were.

This thread is as valid as any other thread discussing classic songs.

  7. A story about someone beating someone up is best told by a witness, not the one doing the beating. It comes off as poserish trying to create your own legend.

As for the slamming the door on an old woman? Maybe that'd be closer to bad ass if he was 24, but he's near or in his 40's now. It's really just sad and rude.

    :rofl-lol:

  8. They'd probably be about how everyone is still out ta get him and how he was betrayed by his biggest friends and about how succesful CD is and about how in his head GnR is still the greatest band that ever existed and about how it's everyone else's fault that GnR is not.
