  1. I don't really care but I probably will watch some of it because I've never seen one before. My Dad is 81 and can just about remember the last one - he was 11 I think.

Yay to 3 bank holidays in May though!

He was killed by James Faulkner, yes I have found several articles in the paper of the time about hs 1987 murder trail, 1985 missing persons report and 1992 retrial

Yeah I've scanned them , and will link to them if admins allow

If they are genuine articles that were published at the time and factual -so not mistaken identity etc. then I don't see why not. Although @downzy has the final word as it's his site.

Well, yes and no.  Yes, some people's default position is always set to shit on GNR.

But there are some legitimate and longstanding criticisms.  I personally don't see me attending a GNR show this year if it's essentially the same show they've been touring for the last six or seven years and/or Axl's vocals don't improve (dramatically).  But that's just me personally.  Others might not care about those factors, attend the show, and have a great time.  Hats off to them!

I think the reception this particular show gets will be interesting though. I don't mean all the criticism on the run up to it but actually musically on the day itself.

From what I can gather this won't be an audience of self selecting GNR fans or even necessarily rock/metal fans. Tickets are sold well in advance of lineup announcements and there isn't much of a secondary ticket market (I'm assuming resale is very expensive).

Guns do have an opportunity here to put something together that at a minimum pleasantly surprises a less than receptive audience. Will they rise to the challenge? I am quite curious as to what direction they go with re set list, surprise guests and general effort.

It has to be a possibility that they somewhat knock it out of the park, right?

We saw something similar with AXL/DC when he had something to prove. I don't know if this falls into the 'something to prove' category for any of them? I feel like it should as it's taken them decades to play there but maybe it's just another festival slot to them?

    Estranged, TWAT, Rocket Queen.

I might change my mind if I chose again in a few months but this is a combination that works for me too. Estranged I would always choose I think but the other two I'm more flexible on - depending on mood I might swap TWAT for Better and RQ for WTTJ/YCBM/Locomotive.

Basically I'm indecisive and haven't really answered the OP.

The reality probably is that it won't be an all out disaster, nor will it be anything special. It will be yet another show in the endless NITL tour, with the band getting slowly more tired and jaded as the years roll on.

That's the most likely scenario in my opinion. It won't be very good, won't be yellow raincoat horrific, just the usual setlist, the usual routine, the usual voice.

That's not really good enough to me, but it seems to work for a lot of people.

If anywhere deserves a YELLOW RAINCOAT outing surely it's Glastonbury! :P

Add some Hunter Wellies and we have the perfect outfit for Somerset.

Battery degredation in EVs is totally overblown. It's nothing like a mobile phone, and don't listen to anybody who tells you that.

Mobile phone batteries are tiny, and are constantly overcharged overnight, and given partial charges during the day. It's really bad for them. More importantly though, the phone operating system and apps demand more from the processor, which then has to work harder, which uses more power, so your battery works harder.

I've spent the last decade working in automotive, then EV and Home energy, and now in zero carbon transport consultancy.

99% of the UK's journeys are EV ready, and the tech isn't going to make a huge difference in the next few years. Range is primarily going up because battery capacity in cars is going up.

The 2013 LEAF used to be 100 miles from a 24kWh battery, so 4mi/kWh.

The 2020 iPace does 290 miles from a 90kWh battery, so 3.2mi/kWh - less efficient than before.

It does seem that batteries have improved massively. We had 2 LEAFs on lease between 2016 and 2020 and the first did degrade a bit like a mobile but the 2nd was a big improvement with a better range but we never got to drive that one much because of Covid so ended up sending it back.

I'd be totally open to buying something like the new Nissan Ariya or the Kia Niro but at the moment they come in at 50-60k. I know the idea is they're cheaper to run but it's a lot and I want to buy one rather than use a PCP scheme.

I'm looking at the epower as a bit of a compromise although I'm a bit sceptical of the technology being much more than 'green' marketing. It will be around half the price of a family size  EV though which is the main draw.

I bought the car I have now online and had it delivered to my house in the midlands from London - didn’t even test drive it  but I knew exactly the car I wanted and what engine size etc and have driven them before.

My sister has had the Nissan Qashqai for the last three years from new and she bought that one online and had it delivered without even seeing it too. It’s such a good car (if you’re still looking at them) she loves hers.

That's good to know. Going again tomorrow to take a closer look at the Qashqai. I think it's probably top of the list at the min just because we've been offered the best deal on it. I also like the Kia Sportage, that has the 7 year warranty and a bigger boot but it's pushing 40k if I buy a PHEV which is getting into the territory of I may as well buy a BMW for a few grand more.

I'm having a battle with myself between spending quite a lot and having a really nice car or spending a more modest amount and having a nice car. IYSWIM.
