CD wasn't meant to be played by bluesy style of Slash. It's like asking David Gilmour to play in Nine Inch Nails or Ministry.

And I'm sorry but the CD songs played by this lineup has been a total mess. Duff is relatively doing fair justice to the songs but Slash seems to be randomly noodling masterpiece solos written by Bucket/Robin. And to be honest, It is fucking annoying to NewGnr fans. Some of us have good memories with these (currently-fuckedup) tunes...

NewGnr lineup, love it or hate it, had been paying their respect to the original lineup by playing AFD songs so tight and beautiful.

Seems the opposite can't happen. I wish they would just let it go with CD songs rather than molesting them time after time on stage.

I think most the songs deserve 3 guitarist for sure. Listening to slash and duff play these songs is fun at the least but I’m glad they’re bringing songs like Reckless Life back. Axl doesn’t sound half bad either. I wish they could play Sorry as well as Axl’s band did

Bring back Bucket. I’d pay to see a three-guitarist lineup of Slash, Bucket and Fortus.

I always wanted Deep Purple to have their farewell tour being a “through the ages” type of event where they play songs from their catalogue with a rolling list of players so the on stage line up respects the song being played. Dreamland I know but that could be an interesting idea to keep things fresh for Guns. As a diehard CD era and classic-era fan anyway I’d personally love that. The general public possibly less so.

Tool took their sweet time (2006 and then 2019), but I can't say I exactly follow them. Oh and it was definitely worth "the wait".

I can’t tell if that is sarcasm or not? The new Tool album is fantastic, particularly the vinyl pressing which is a different master. Tool’s output in general is of a very high average standard.

Yep,  me too. There was something really, really special about that night. So exciting, the internet was very much in its infancy so we didn't know what to expect, it all seemed odd and different.

I'd never have thought that night that  A) Slash and Duff would be back and B) they'd have bored me so much by 2022 I didn't go to see them on tour.

When I think about this night, the potential that lineup had, how dynamic it all was, it almost hurts how they've just wasted all the time and years.

    Still, we live in hope!

I also didn’t go to see them in 2022 and don’t regret it. Yet in 2002 I bought tickets the day they were announced at Leeds and anticipated the gig for months. I’d never been more excited for a gig and probably won’t be ever again.

This is your opinion. Fact is their legacy has already been established.  At this point, they could only add to it.

    Of course it’s my opinion.

I even opened my comment with “for me it is about…”

The comparison I’ve made before is Black Sabbath - I respect Iommi far more for having tried post Ozzy multiple times and not necessarily always succeeded, than if he’d just have toured an Ozzy era greatest hits for 30 years and milked it.

  5. I’ve said this before on here… but for me it is about legacy and respect. If GnR never release another album my respect for them will be low, and their legacy will be essentially 2 albums which is very poor. If they release another album even if it is average I will respect them for trying, and their legacy could be protected from being perceived to be sell outs.

Depends where you're from and where the record is shipping from, I guess. One month for international postage is annoying, but not too surprising. Sometimes I'll check tracking numbers, and my records are sitting in a shipping facility for a few weeks, but once they actually start moving they arrive in a few days.

Cheers. That’s the problem though, the guy didn’t give any tracking. It’s shipping from France to UK. Maybe Brexit causes them to go intentionally slow. Wouldn’t surprise me.

  7. Fair play to RHCP if they’ve got another new album coming already.

On another topic - does anyone understand the score with Discogs postage? I ordered a vinyl almost a month ago and still haven’t received it. I emailed the seller and he told me something along the lines of “of course you haven’t received it yet, postage is slow these days with strikes etc”… but as I said it is almost a month. Can I get my money back or do I need to wait?

For me permission to land is top to bottom brilliant. But I know they aren't everybody's favourite!

The last 60 seconds of Love On The Rocks With No Ice alone is rock enough to make this list.
I know they got the “joke band” label but they are actually well schooled fanboys of the genre and can play really well. My only gripe on the first few albums is the poor drumming.

    His hair is gray now:

The length of his fingers always astounds me.

And so you think that’s a wig or dyed grey? I’m sure Slash dyes his hair black. I assumed Bucket did the same so maybe he just stopped dying it.

  10. I agree with people saying make the move.

Me and my wife did something similar - we live miles (hundreds in my case, thousands in my wife’s) from our families. Initially it was a shock but over time you adjust, find new friends, build a circle of people etc.

I also wouldn’t consider the move “permanent”. Use it as a solution to get on the ladder or move up the ladder with my your preferred endgame in sight. I know peoples financial situations differ so it may not always be possible, but if you can: overpay your mortgage - so if the mortgage payment is £750 for example set the direct debit to £1000 or £1250 for example, each month, every month. We did that in our new area, and as we didn’t know anyone we found we could afford to do that as we were going out less etc, and what that meant after 2 or 3 years was we had increased our equity and could afford to move. So this might be an option that in 3 or 4 years you could return to your town.

    Hope this helps.
