I assume its a Bucket album?

I have no doubt I'd like some of his guitarwork there but, without knowing anything of that record, I'm pretty confident I would dislike the complete songs. Unfortunately most of the time when I tried to listen to his songs I couldn't make it to the main guitar solo.

I’ll second the recommendation for Electric Tears. Phenomenal album. Very mellow. Excellent to listen to while at work trying to focus, or while doing yoga or just want to relax.

The poster claimed that he worked in the industry and had inside information. Like I said, the same was posted on 4chan  (@Live Like a Suicide found the link):

The Perhaps “supposed” cover screen grab had “Gn’r” bottom right corner. This Atlas image has “Guns N Roses”. Possibly I am reading too much into that but you would assume they would have consistency. Either way the Atlas artwork is very good.

Bucket  can't  fill more than  a small theater.

about the CD  quality topic, that's  just like your opinion man, wasn't  well accepted with the general  public. In the Public eye wasn't  the same band either.

Popularity is not akin to quality, and also ebbs and flows over time. I saw Slash in 2000 and there was only maybe 300 people there, yet the quality was greater than his playing today.

And yes that is just like my opinion man. That’s why I started my entire post with “personally…”. There are no facts when it comes to quality of music. It’s all opinion.

Success metrics aside, I am not sure how one compares the NuGNR body of work (CD) against AFD/Lies/UYI output or quality wise. Maybe some believe that CD alone trumps all the previous stuff, but I tend to believe that’s a VERY small minority. Maybe you preferred the NU guys (in the various incarnations) live, but that is just about the only way I can see it, but hey it’s just my opinion.

Personally, I love both. I see them as distinct. Like Deep Purple MkII v MKVII. I was sad to see the original band fall apart, and equally sad that NuGuns did not live up to the huge opportunity and that we didn’t hear more Bucket + Axl. Certainly I think what we have now (legacy tours, worse musicianship, no new music) is worse than both those eras (although not as bad as the Ashba years).

Obviously quantity wise “original” Guns win.

Quality wise some of Guns best songs are on CD. But songs like Paradise City and Nightrain will always remain more iconic. It is what it is, almost unheard of for any band to totally reinvent itself and match early career levels (particularly when that early career was so successful). Probably an impossible job. There is no true comparable precedent that I can think of.

  5. I had pre-warned my mates to lower their expectations earlier today. I’d explained what “mickey” was. And that Frank was shit. Etc.

This is totally fantastic, my mates don’t understand what I was on about. Sound is fantastic, Slash on fire. Only negative comment is “Axl doesn’t quite have the king capacity he once did” but that’s a sign of age and the vocal performance itself is being praised.

Just got mine in, the surprise gift was the fucking Hard Skool 7" that I got as a memebership gift last year.  I love it, but I don't need 2.

That is poor, but if you’re based in UK and willing to sell I’d be interested in buying the second copy off you as I missed out on that 7” first time around.

I think that's a very fair statement. Just hoped Slash could do to Hardskool what Bucket did to the Nightrain solo - which was sublime IMO.

Agree. I think the problem is though that, as much as I live him, Slash doesn’t have the ability, variety or creativity of Buckethead, and is now c. 20 years older than Bucket was when he was in Guns so age could play a part as we all become less creative with time.

It’s a real shame the way this all played out - Slash had many of his best years outside of Guns releasing solo stuff, while Bucket had many of his best years inside of Guns recording bucketloads (pun intended) of stuff that will likely never see the light of day. In another universe they would find a way to blend both together.

Apparently bucket put out a letter apologizing to fans for delays in merch orders and said he had to move four times in the last year or so. Dude must be broke.

If he is broke (and I hope he is not) it is entirely because of his terrible business model. Fabulous musician, excellent music, but the business-side lets him down. Get a decent website, promote properly, release limited edition coloured / splat vinyls (“gory headstump orange”!!! - via Sheet Happens or equivalent), tour outside USA, play guest spots, join a band… there’s a lot he could do. Releasing endless Pikes / Live Pikes which even I, as one of his most hardcore fans who has a huge box of $1000’s of dollars worth of his physical releases over the years in my attic, stopped buying even in the $2 sales… just won’t work I don’t think. I wish him well.

Hopefully Axl reaches out and offers him a few guest spots to play TWAT live for $.

I'd say The Beatles were/are more iconic in terms of influence etc and the impact that their music had over the duration of their lifespan and beyond. The music itself is obviously subjective, but in my opinion, regardless of the small catalogue that Guns have, they've achieved a lot in their formative years that will forever cement them among the best bands of all time.

Let's not hide away from the fact that Wings were the band The Beatles could have been.

My favourite Beatles album? Tough one. I  think I’d have to say The Best of the Beatles.

Axl has been writing a book for a long time, but I'm his words it's like 10000 pages or something 🤣 I'm sure there's book companies that have tried to get his story. But they would need the most patient editor on this earth to go through Axls book.

Last Axl spoke about it was that he had a book, but he didn't know how to talk about Duff and Slash now without throwing them under the bus for what they said inaccurately in their books and his recollection of events in the 90s split. Seems it's on ice along with his recordings though😄

Has he written anything since 1999?

  11. Haha, good job. Glad to see this reopened even if the pace has dropped off over the past few months. I regularly check here. Come on Guns…! Release something.

Can’t see it happening this year now. Next year, if we’re lucky imo

This post unintentionally made me laugh. We could set a bot to automatically post this comment around this time of year every year.

Hate to say it folks but I am bored of the whole thing - I haven’t yet bought the new UYI’s the price has put me off, and while live shows are great I already have a tonne of live GnR stuff I barely listen to. My musical tastes have sent me in directions to discover new stuff for me - either new releases by bands I like, or old stuff by bands I’m just discovering (so new for me). I very rarely listen to GnR anymore, despite them probably still being, overall, my favourite band.

That said, the new November Rain sounds fantastic. Had they reworked both albums along those lines that would have been a new and exciting product! Imagine Coma or Civil War with that new sheen! Shame the SW remixes are likely to sit in the vault - hopefully it’s just another money spinning exercise and they will eventually release them next year to rinse this again, alongside a standalone Blu-ray release. Pink Floyd have this business model also - release a massive boxset then slowly release the component parts over time in various formats.

  13. Wow that was quick! I had my eye on the Dali Spector speakers last year as well (6, same as you). Have paused for the moment just until I get a better understanding of inflation etc (pay rise at work was only 3%) but would be very interested in how they sound. I’d also need a new amp with them which is another reason why I paused for the moment as that would mean pushing £1000 total.
