  1. This would sound better if the band sang the "got a lot more" lines in the chorus and axl saved himself for the "all alone nows". Sheesh.
  2. Absurd I'd give a "what were they thinking" out of 10. I don't understand the choice to release the song at all, let alone as a single. Hard Skool maybe a 6.5. It's simple but sounds the least "tinkered with" of the bunch.
  3. Eh, don't dig this. - Musically reminds me too much of TWAT / other ideas that we already heard on Chinese D - Axl's vocal choices confuse me throughout - overall he's way too whiny and all the "hay haaaayyyyy" stuff really grates on me - The chorus is sort of interesting but then the "all alone now" refrain hits and spoils it for me - I like both Robin and Slash's solos - I like Slash's rhythmic additions - I like the updated mix 3.5/10 and an appeal to leave the remaining Chinese Leftovers in the fridge; work up something fresh instead of turning to that microwave another time.
  4. I love these guys. Awesome to see them hitting new heights. Saw them 3x at red rocks last week, was magical. Dropping the second drummer was the best move they could have made; Cavs has really been able to morph into one of my favorite drummers on the planet these past few years. Anyway, the new album fucks so hard, it's wild. I can't pick a favourite track yet, I'm still way too hot on the whole thing. Anyone curious about this band and still yet to take the plunge: if you like metal, check out Petro Dragonic Apocalypse.
  5. SHOW OF THE WEEK: GN'R @ The Felt Forum, NY - May 9th, 1988 Welcome to MYGNR's first "Show of the Week"! I've made the first to kick things off, but going forward, a member will be selected each week to create the thread (or as often as we get around to it). If you have a show you'd like to submit, please submit a "pitch" to highvoltage via PM - the show, the setlist and a couple of lines listing why you think it should be the SOTW. It doesn't have to be GN'R.... it could be VR, Walking Papers or something else. This week's show is GN'R's set from the Felt Forum, in May 1988. Even though the video is poor, the sound is great and the show is notable for several reasons... it's an electric performance from the original lineup, and (I feel) it captures the unrestrained, scrappy energy of the time before they started to burn out from touring. Video thanks to GNRFrance. GNROntour have another version uploaded here.Highlights: - You're Crazy starts as the slow, bluesy version and morphs into the faster, AFD version after the second verse (starts at 1:12:30) - Rare 1988 performance of Don't Cry, 3 years before it's release - Slash. He's fucked up, but he's on. His solo in Brownstone is awesome.
