Was Axl sick in that video? His voice was cracking an awful lot at the end and it's an easy song.

i know this sounds odd, but the seeker is actually right near the high end of his vocal range!

all the songs you hear in a higher pitch are a completely different technique used by him (head voice/chest voice/pharyngeal singing), while the seeker/you're crazy acoustic are axl's normal bass/baritone range that doesn't go much higher than this

did Axl lower his tone or just not sing with a falsetto here...sounded better, closer to his talking voice and not Mickey

WOW thats a prettty good SCOM!

sounds like hes supporting his head voice with a blend of chest, basically just pushing more air from his chest through his throat and not through the nasal passage

    Axl's voice...makes no sense!

it does! singing low and in his mixed voice where his midrange is used on those long GnR songs is much trickier than just blasting chest and head voice with AC/DC! Songs like Nightrain and Coma are a reaaaaal bitch to sing for even pro singers because of the stamina and range required, with AC/DC he only has to use his high voice.

    Regarding GnR:

To me, it's sounds a lot like: well, we actually all  saw that Axl could do better and wasn't happy with a lot of us. We knew that Axl would sound better with Slash and Duff, but hey...he paid me well, so I shut my mouth and worked 20 years for Mr. Rose.

    Regarding AC/DC:

Sure, Tommy. You will join AC/DC in the future. You just have to rim job Axl a bit deeper this time!

    what!? ... i get how people don't like Nu-GnR....

Tommy Stinson is a grown ass man who has played with maaaaany many other musicians throughout his entire life, and you interpret these comments as him dissing Axl passive aggressively? Like whaaaat? Music is a business and Axl was his co-worker. He is figuratively a hired-hand to these GnR fans who love weaving narratives, but in the end, he is just an average guy (who sees no spectacle or illusion of a spectacle with the music business like us fans do) and a longtime co-worker and collaborator with Axl, and just spoke what was on his mind. He's a bass player saying his former singer is kicking ass! that simple!

I'm curious to hear what you think Tommys answer should have been re: AC/DC? It's one of the biggest and most important rock bands to ever play, of course he'd say it would be fun, so would every single current and existing member of guns, how is that rimjobbing axl?

  5. I sat right beside house left FOH mixer about 8 rows in front of the VIP risers. Sound was the best it could be for the venue (rogers centre in toronto) view was decent, could see Frank, Melissa and Dizzy and Axl when he was up on the monitors, but the screens are huge and clear. I was having a blast though and couldn't give a shit about the view, best concert of my life.

  6. When it comes to raspiness- 2010 obviously

    Range- 2002

    Energy-1987

    Personal Favourite- 1993

BUT... when it comes to the clear/clean voice used on Chinese Democracy that devolved into 'mickey' and his HIGH raspy voice... I honestly think he's singing the best he's ever sang. His rapsy high notes are much more resonant than 2010, and have much more control pitch-wise, and don't have that ugly nasal tone that UYI made famous. His mid-range is his sole issue (think ALL THAT YA GOT, TO FOOL THE NATION, WHEN ALL I'VE GOT IS PRECIOUS TIME), and he's kind of starting to lose the notes at the VERY top of his range.

Its not about men or women, if people are complaining about a blue haired chick in a band called Guns N' Roses then they have every right to.

Im not a hardcore AC/DC fan, but I like them a lot. Now Imagine Melissa joining AC/DC, wouldn't all the AC/DC fans go crazy?

AC/DC is a party band with formulatic writing about pussy and guitars who haven't changed their sound in 40 years, GnR plays all kinds of rock about many different things with many different sounds from song-to-song. biiit different

I have a friend in one of the guys solo bands....I cant say who, but he claims that the band is playing to a click track, and also using prerecorded backing vocals. Melissa would be in charge of running all this....explains why she has a laptop with her.

this is true for the BG vox but thats only in songs or parts where Axl double-tracks vox like in Shacklers or CD, or when he hits UBER-low bass notes that nobody else can sing live, like in the start of PC, Also, it would be Carams team (or whoever the sound guy is nowadays) that would be setting the click and tempo through the show (hence franks in-ears) She runs programs on her laptop that program the synth sounds and FX and whatnot (MIDI blahblahblah), its actually a pretty wicked setup.

(Also, I'm surprised Axl doesn't ever have a click in his IEM feeds, unless its separate?)

NOT using a click track in a stadium show with that many moving parts would sound like ass considering they already go off-tempo a bit from the adrenaline and groove.
