how can you like 2016 version when we have this... cmon now

clearer voice, i can hear the words, less strain in 2016 so he could convey the emotion better during the ending, and he'd add the chest and raspy head voice when it was needed, like the recording... also just preference. I've never liked his nasally vox and 2010 reminds me of them.

    (side note)

I just listened to UTY 1&2 and AFD in that order and you literally can't even hear what the words are for a shitload of songs on UYI when he sings high, so maybe that explains it.

Thanks! I thought I was going insane. Had to watch videos from NA and it was all there. Axl was a monster. I'd post some videos but that wouldn't be right in the Prague thread. We have 50 voice threads now haha

i saw em in ottawa 2010, then colombus 2012, then toronto 2016 and rocket queen was the best in 2016... he sounds like 2012 again which sucks cause that song is so damn good when it's done how it was recorded... even the 2010 vox for me sounded like UYI (out of the nose and uber rasp)

The original post you quoted from me specifically says vocals...not shows, I'm talking about vocals. This euro leg has been amazing from a setlist point of view and the crowds.

Rocket Queen was incredible on the NA leg so don't even say it was always bad, the other songs Iike YCBM PC NR & SCOM have been bad for a while. But even songs like Jungle have struggled on this leg. Where as you can't find a bad one on the North American tour. I can find good performances of Coma, a decent YCBM, the best nightrain, great LALD, Yesterdays was better, my michelle was way better and I see that as indication that his voice was better in NA then now. You can't find a performance in Europe that tops those. You're not going to see a better Jungle than you saw in NA or even SA

im not trying to make my country look better by saying Axl sings better here...it's just the way it worked out. Maybe he feels he has more to prove here with our lame crowds, but I would even say the second half of the SA leg was on par with NA...he got better and I've seen no indication that he's improved in Europe.

however with all this said I think once we switch up locations we might see different vocals...it's happened before

rocket queen on NA was friggin awesome, as was jungle, every night

He didn't doctor the vocals on Appetite for democracy? ...he should have done so in a few places, but he didn't. Wouldn't be so sure he'd do it for an NILT dvd either.

Also, are we ever gonna get a Blu-ray... When was it promised? It wasn't, we're just nerdy enough to know that there are camera crews recording footage... That shouldn't mean it's an official release possibility. Bands record lots of footage and shelve it, GNR do this a LOT.

We should probably see something but hopefully when it does come out it'll be a compilation of shows so the performances are actually great, rather than one good/average show... To my ears they haven't played a single absolute knock out show yet. Some knock out performances of individual songs, but overall no full shows. Largely down to Axls voice (and sometimes  Slash) on this one, as the band are usually tight.

they doctored the vox on it, a bit of pitch correction and editing from playlists of other performances methinks, you can hear a few cuts every now and then

I was lucky enough to make it to the Atlanta and Houston shows last years. I thought he sounded exceptional in Atlanta and of course everyone knows by now how he magically hit that second gear and obliterated the Houston gig. Hearing the 2 shows on Youtube I still think they sound amazing but whether it was the beer/live atmosphere, I'd obviously give the edge to the sound quality when I was there. Since I was born in '96 I didn't get to see the original/UYI lineup but I always wonder, if Axl sounded that great on recorded footage from that time period, I can only imagine how it was to actually BE there.

well dude, you notice those notes live where he just fuckin goes red, gives crazy eyes and SCREAMS? thats basically a whole 2010 show, it was unreal.... but i still think AXL/DC was better lol more singing less screaming

considering the fact Fortus can't play Guns N Roses songs in a band called Guns N Roses 15 years later, you are probably VERY right. There obviously isn't a need for Fortus or his parts in his band, instead, get someone who could play those parts right. Gilby and Izzy had prooven themselves in a much shorter time span.

izzy was sloppy live, and richard plays the parts gilby/izzy does but makes them his own like gilby did.. what songs do you think he can't play?

I waited for 24 years for a reunion and now don't have 1% desire to spend my money on this shitty line up.

First - 20 year old green haired chick playing 2 nd keyboard in a band that started out w/o having one!

Second - Rhythm guitar player who looks like he was forgoten on stage by some aler rock opening band, aware he has no personality on charisma so he keeps his chest unbottoned since 2008...The guy looks like a complete fraud. Plays like any average guitar player in any small town on ths planet. There are street musicians that play better than him. For real, I was never a too big Izzy fan, but if we can't have Izzy - this guy can't ask Gilby for even an autograph. Izzy and Gilby are light years away from this guy in every aspect. Don't know how much he gets paid but every dime is a dime to much.

Third - What the fuck is the issue with Frank!? Does he remind Ax of Earl? Is Ax deaf?  mean they used to record the fuckin shows, does he ever listen to them?

You dn't trust Adler fine, me either, so get fuckin Matt fuckin Sorum.

gilby could never play the parts richard plays, and slash would have trouble as well

He says "I guess I'll keep it to myself" on every verse of Chinese Democracy now, rather than "gonna find out for yourself" and "I guess you'll find out for yourself" on the first and third verses.

It's cool that he sings the last chorus of It's So Easy like he used to with the "Hell, it's so easy" interjection again.

I always thought he said "yeah, it's so easy" but does that cool axl/joplin growling thing
