  1. Its like whatever to me. Some 80 year old, rich white person doesn't like blacks. *shrugs* Nothing new really. Bad publicity for the NBA though....Especially since its coming out during the league's showcase, the playoffs.

For what it is worth, Sterling isn't just bigot toward blacks, but all minorities.

I agree here. The dude is 80, of course he's racist.

Not really, someone shouldn't be excused or have their racism be shrugged off just because they're old.

  2. So because your interpretation of the scene was inaccurate, the director is lying.

She reluctantly wanted it - absolutely. One part of her was succumbing to Jamie's advances, and the other was wary of the recklessness involved. She was obliging physically, and resisting verbally. I'm sorry that you didn't 'get' the intentions of the director.

Put yourself in the mindset of somebody whose power is slowly falling around them. Even if there is no logic to somebody entering the sept, Cersei is aware that she can't try anything that would absolutely ruin her efforts at recouping stability. She is no longer in a position to take chances. Varys' little birds are everywhere - and Cersei is definitely not surrounded by loyalty.

I must've missed the part where she welcomed Jaime's forcefulness? When, between what cries of "no" and "stop" did that occur? As I said, this scene is garnering a lot of controversy, most of it being that Jaime raping Cersei was unnecessary and bad writing. Why would the director not try to soften the blow of these criticisms?

"Reluctantly wanted it"? In context of the book, that makes sense. However, we're talking about the show and in that show I saw her saying no and using her arms to try and push him away.

Not only is this awful writing for the entire scape of the show, but D&D have single-handedly erased all character development for Jaime. The Jaime that hated sexual violence towards women and the Jaime who loved Cersei, is now a rapist who can't take no for an answer. As GRRM basically said, it made no sense as Jaime had been back for a while.

  3. No part of it was consensual, he's just trying to save face. Even GRRM had a problem with it but being involved with the show to some degree, he can't outright say it.

She said "no", therefore it is rape.

The show may just be fiction but the fact that you saw the scene in that way, shows a very worrying way of thinking in reality.

As soon as Cersei sad "no, stop", that's exactly what he should've done.

I also fail to see how her image would be tarnished? There was no one there to see them? Unless you count the corpse of their dead son, and although I'm no doctor, I can pretty much guarantee that he wouldn't be able to say anything.

Haha, your psychoanalysis gave me a giggle. It doesn't infer anything about the way I percieve depravity, it just shows that I understand GOT doesn't approach depravity in a conventional way. Martin is constantly writing questionable thought-processes - it's historical fantasy.

I fail to see how you fail to see the potential implications of having sex with your brother in front of your son's corpse (which resides in a holy house, and is actually your brother's son too). The Lannister secret is less and less disbelieved, and Cersei's clutch on power is waning. Anybody could walk in at any given time, and as Varys said, nothing is unheard in King's Landing. Least of all sex between royal siblings.

Yes it does, you seem to think that although Cersei said no, she really did want it. Stop bringing Martin into this, as you've clearly misunderstood his words about this scene. He wrote in his books that Cersei consented, in the show, she did not. Therefore any argument you are trying to make about a scene in the show, using the book is moot.

Who would walk in? I do realise what that would do to her reputation but, seriously who? Jaime dismissed the only people who actually had a place in there, Tywin and Tommen had walked off, plus any guard would be stupid to speak against the Lannisters.

  4. Shocked by what some of you are saying, that mostly certainly was rape... simple as that. She said no and tried to push him away, but he persisted. I'm actually sickened.

    It's just fiction, calm yourself.

What you're failing to understand is that Cersei's every thought revolves around bettering her chances at full power. She says 'No, it's inapproriate' - which actually translates as yes I would have sex with you, but this context is far too dangerous for my public image.

  5. I loved not having Dany for an episode, Emilia's acting really annoys me. The same goes for Kit Harington.

Thought Alfie Allen did a great job with the small section he had in this episode, his reaction to discovering Robb's death was really well-acted. I usually like Iwan Rheon but I can't stand his portrayal of Ramsay and that whole hunting scene was very unnecessary (especially as I've since found out that it was only talked about in the books, and not 'shown' so to speak).

Jack Gleeson did an incredible job of portraying Joffrey, really spectacular. The only qualm I have with this section of the episode was Lena's (Cersei) acting, it was especially bad when compared to Jack. It seemed like a phoned in performance with reacting to Joffrey dying etc.

That scene between her and Brienne was weird and out-of-character for her.

Sophie did a good job with Sansa as she usually does, she plays her wonderfully.

  6. So what are people's opinions on this? If you didn't know, this is a summary of what it is:

The Heartbleed Bug is a serious vulnerability in the popular OpenSSL cryptographic software library. This weakness allows stealing the information protected, under normal conditions, by the SSL/TLS encryption used to secure the Internet. SSL/TLS provides communication security and privacy over the Internet for applications such as web, email, instant messaging (IM) and some virtual private networks (VPNs).

The Heartbleed bug allows anyone on the Internet to read the memory of the systems protected by the vulnerable versions of the OpenSSL software. This compromises the secret keys used to identify the service providers and to encrypt the traffic, the names and passwords of the users and the actual content. This allows attackers to eavesdrop on communications, steal data directly from the services and users and to impersonate services and users.

    http://heartbleed.com

The NSA is having to deny that they had any knowledge of it even though they've apparently known about this weakness since 2012 and have used it to their own advantage.

Here's a list of what websites you'll most probably want to change your password for: http://mashable.com/2014/04/09/heartbleed-bug-websites-affected/

Another tip is to enable 2-step verification on any website you can.

  7. Because she's a terrible character?

Except she's not? She's actually one of the more well-written characters. For the longest time she was the only who did what needed to be done, for the good of everybody. She taught the kids how to defend themselves, she was the one who tried to halt the spread of the disease by burning Karen/the other guy, she was the one who shot Lizzy to protect Judith. She's the one that looks after people, and yet she's a terrible character?

Pray tell, who do you consider to be great characters?

She was always in the way for the main characters and couldn't tell her ass from her elbow during the first half of the series, yet now she is suddenly all bad ass. Terrible.

She's practically a main character herself... and plus, her journey to being the strong Carol she is began when Sophia (really) died. It's been a slow, and not-so-outright development but you can see it building slowly. That's how she's a well-written character, she's got more depth than the majority of the people on this show. Clearly you have no grasp of what a well-developed character is. She's not just suddenly 'bad-ass', she's a survivor and a realistic one at that.

Again, what do you consider to be well-written and great characters?

  9. Anything to do with Azealia Banks is all her fault, if she had burned industry bridges by being a vile creature on Twitter, then her album may already have been out by now. She attacked practically everyone in the industry, and that's just a stupid thing to do. Especially when it was clear that it was mostly her fault for any problems when it came to professional relationships.

Also, most of the others are complaining because their products didn't get released when the label know what they're doing. Why would they want to fund something that will surely flop? They try to delay albums etc. so interest can be built up (if there isn't any there) and they can gain a profit, instead of losing money. You can rant about the art and stuff like that all you want, it won't be much use if a label can't run due to financial loss.

  10. I think someone is forgetting an academy award nominated performance here ;)

    Robert-in-Tropic-Thunder-robert-downey-j

The character was a satirical jab at the fact that Hollywood white-washes characters and how roles are less-likely to be offered to black people.

I know, I was joking

(that's what the wink was for lol )

Sorry! Considering the opinions of some in this thread, I can't be too sure of who'd actually agree with that.

  11. The last few episodes have been really good imo. It's still hilarious to me that people still watch it, if only so they can bitch about it. Spend your time watching something you'll enjoy (this is aimed at the general attitude on the internet, not specifically people in this thread).

I don't know I found them to be kind of boring with not much going on. Seems they are just milking the theme of all them reuniting...I am all for character building but man things are going slow......it is not like they are scraping for ideas as the show is based on a comic book series so the script has already been written for them...........all they have to do is adapt it for TV..........and people keep watching because they keep waiting for things to pick up and return to the early seasons when things were more exciting I think........... :shrugs:

I saw some people saying that it's so bad since it's strayed so far from the comics, but either the first or second of the new episodes was practically a straight rip from the comics... people still complained. I get finding it a bit boring or whatever, but when all you can say is "it's shit and not worth watching", then don't watch.

  13. Ahhhh bless her, she ain't hurting no one, more power to her. Not exactly my kinda music but it's not dreadful or anything, I'd say she's the best of the pop bunch out there at the moment, or at least top 2 or 3 of em. Can't think of any of em I'd put before her, except maybe Beyonce.

Also, she's fit as fuck and don't mind getting her kit off, which is always a plus.

I hope you don't mean best of the pop bunch when it comes to talent.

  14. You get this shit with every movie adaptation. There are these super hardcore fans of the original who are some of the most anal, nitpicking, pedantic dipshits in the world, seemingly unable to understand how the nature of storytelling may differ between media and who whine incessantly when the movie diverges in the smallest way, when any little story is cut, when some obscure concept is ignored, when a character slightly differs from the original description and who have an insane talent of manufacturing the Himalayas out of molehills. Look at Lord of the Rings - movies that are as good as you could get in high fantasy, and still some asses complain about how some absurd concept from the books was dropped or about how the order of the scenes was changed in order to make the trilogy work! And the screenwriters and directors have to pay service to these pedantic fucks to the detriment of their product even though some of the best movie adaptations of all time (Blade Runner, Stand By Me, Shining) only keep the premise of the original and changed the story in order for it to work on screen. You see the Comic Book Guy on The Simpsons and you think that's a super-exaggerated stereotype who cannot exist in reality, but then there he is! millions of him! Just fucking relax and let the movie makers, who are trained and experienced professionals in their field, do their fucking jobs!

it has nothing to do with being nitpicky or anal. it has to do with vastly changing something that has been the way it is for 50 or 60 years. imagine the feelings would be if they decided to reboot the comic book blade and made eric brooks white?

it would be similar to going and buy AFD just to realize all of slash's guitar parts were re recorded with dj ashba. then when you bitch about it people say you are nitpicking and anal about it and just shut up and listen to the album and enjoy it because axl knows what he is doing.

"vastly changing"? The only notable things about Johnny Storm are his attitude and his powers, as long as those are in tact then...
