It took Boston 8 years to release their third record, "Third Stage" because Tom Scholtz is such a control freak. Is there anyone else out there that can compete with Axl's long-delayed album? They started working on this over 10 years ago - that's a DECADE - and the only two musicians still in the band are Axl and Dizzy - most of the replacements have been replaced.

Speaking of which, does anyone else find it funny that Duff was replaced by an actual "Replacement" when Tommy Stinson joined up?

Realistically, it's been 8 years that they've been working on this particular GNR album. 1998 is when this band, give or take a couple members, started jamming in the studio together.

personally i think theres a clue in this. Before the tour started, even before the leaks started; Rolling Stone published the story on Axl at the Korn party... where it said the following:

"Rose's favorites are "Better," "There Was a Time" and "The Blues."" - low and behold we have one new song title (better) and one reassured as correct (TWAT). These songs "better and TWAT" are then leaked and then they are played live, along with another new one I.R.S. to which ROlling Stone also said was a working title in a previous issue. And was also in very low quality thanks to Trunks radio broadcast.

Ok so what do i think it means, and if someone pointed it out earlier i apologise.

Axl planted these song titles for what seemed to be a purpose, the songs are now within our media libraries and in our cd players. But this is a result of a previous mention in the Rolling Stone. I personally think I.R.S. was released because it was out there in that scratchy format of 3 or so minutes without an intro, so why not deliver the full funcional demo. seems logical. Axl stated Better and TWAT to RS... demos surface, they're played live!

Now with this new tid bit, Axl plays CD at his party, Sebastian Bach mentions title of a new song to RS.... Sorry.

Says it's haunting and can't get out of his head, with a flavor of Doom Metal, clarifies this as a Rocker to me. We've been all on here saying that the first single should be a killer rock track thats catchy and in your face. This very well could be what he's aluding to. Something tells me we may get another demo and a new song live. OR something even grander... could this possibly be the first single off Chinese D?!

I dunno, i just don't think Bach would just blab any old song title to RS, possibly he knows it to be the first single and is hyping it up.

I tend to agree with you. I too found it kinda interesting that the 3 new songs they played live on this tour were the 3 (excluding CITR) that were leaked a couple months prior. A little too odd if you ask me. Almost as if they wanted us to be a little familiar with the new material and to give us a taste of what was to come in the fall.

Im way excited to hear Sorry, after Baz hyped it up so much. Then again, Im just psyched to hear any official song from the new album.

By the way, if only single seats are available in a venue, they still count it as a sell out. Take the MSG show, for example.

Honestly, I think a lot of the hardcore fans are being pessimistic right now just to kinda soften the blow if, God forbid, this is a rehash of 2002. I know Axl has said a couple times that "It is this year." But he made similar comments in 2002. You know, the whole "It feels right." and "Its time to wrap up the baby" comments.

Im not saying that this isnt the year. It really seems like it is!!!

But I can see why some fans remain skepticle thus far. But in the end, they want it just as bad as you do. Maybe more.

Im really beginning to think that there is absolutely no way this album is going to be release in any sorta "conventional" way. Nothing about this album has been usual. Nothing about Axl is usual. Why should the release of the album, single, and possible video be any different.

I wouldnt be at all surprised if the single and album dropped the same day. We'd be lucky if we had a week's notice, if that.

Time will tell.

Ive been reading a lot of negative posts about the release of chinese democracy in november and I cant honestly see why. Everybody on this forum has been waiting for such a time when it will be released and there was a lot of hype this year when Axl claimed that 2006 is the year. so i ask why all the negativity?.

It's close to christmas which means everybody will get a copy because it will be high on everybody's wish list. well people who understand good music. With the actual release no nother artist/bands album will come close to the amount of media attention that chinese democracy will recieve. so for all us gunner's fans chinese democracy will reign supreme to all other albums out there.

I personally can't wait for Guns N' Roses and "November Reign" with Chinese Democracy.

Absolutely. If Axl and management are looking to generate big sales with this album (of course they are) then November is the month to drop it. Time will tell. Here's hopin.

It's October 14th people, which means only one thing: the official tour begins in a mere six days.

I have to believe, especially if we assume a November release date, that we get a single + video to kick off the tour. The timing to coincide with the album would be perfect, and you need something to bring mainstream fans to the concerts. If the album isn't coming in November, which would make it unlikely we'd get a single this week, I'd have to question why they would launch the tour now. But October 20th has been in the plans for a while. Didn't Axl mention this day (23rd is what I think he said, to be exact) at the MTV VMAs? It is obviously something they've been targeting for some time, and I believe they canceled shows earlier in the month in order for them to get all their ducks in a row.

IMO this should be a pretty huge week. If nothing big happens then I think we can almost cross November off the list. So rather than bickering and talking about myspace and crap like that, maybe we should focus on what is likely going to be a pivotal week in the lifespan of this album. Reading the forums I don't get the sense people are really anticipating something major happening this week. I believe we are on the verge of a single. That is what everything points to.

I agree that something really "should" happen this week. But the same can be said for every week for the past four years since the initial Chinese Democracy tour. So in other words, who knows? I guess we wont know til we actually watch the video or hear a single. Which sucks. But thats the way it is with GNR.

All I know is that floor seats are still available for the Chicago show a week into them being onsale. Thats sad. A single, video, hopefully both would solve this problem quickly, creating massive hype.

Not having a single, video, or even a release date for the album isnt exactly helping the ticket selling situation either. The majority have known Axls back with a new GNR since 2002, so theres really no "He's back!" hype surrounding this tour either. If he wants to fill arenas once again, he'll have to do better than a mediocur website and "cryptic" album messages in tour press release.

Hey can someone please help me out I live in Chicago and I have been waiting for a GNR show here and I've been checking dates for here everyday! I had no idea they were playing here already does anyone know when they are coming here !?

November 27th at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont.....its not up yet on ticketmaster but i imagine theyll go on sale some time next week.
