He did Shackler's Revenge. He listened and played to an instrumental of only Buckethead's rhythm guitars with no metronome or anything. (to get a better idea of what he should play rhythmically, since the final product is already a convoluted mishmash of stuff)
Since it was an instrumental, and the verse palm muted riff is supposed to be off rhythm from the drums, his initial instinct was to play along it ON rhythm (which then resulted in a more abrupt change into the verse since it essentially cut off part of the measure, making the last bar 7/4). When I later showed him that the guitar part was actually offbeat, his mind had already set himself to only play in sync with the guitar, and was very adamant about playing it in sync with the guitar, saying
"sounded really weird when it came in with the guitar, sounded out of sync I think its much more impactful when the drums and guitar are on time with eachother. Just sounds better in general"
"i dont think i want to play that, wouldn’t feel right. sounds way too unnatural for me, so you can just shift it when you have the stems and it will sound good still"
So I then chopped and lined up what he sent me to the structure of the original song (made it off beat), but I also made a version of what he thought would sound better
Both versions have have Bumblefoot's parts reduced, so it has more room to breathe
His thoughts of the instrumental guitars"
"its a very strange song haha"
His thoughts on the original drums
"it sounds awesome, like a whole different song. I definitely think its better than what i played. i liked that disco beat"

I've never seen the appeal of the Foo Fighters. I'm glad we got Brain instead.
Sometimes i just need something easily digestible. dude knows how to write a catchy chorus. But i understand why people dont like it. Its just simple pop hard rock with almost the same approach to every song for the last few albums. Concrete and Gold is different though. Not bad, but certainly they tried to branch out a little bit
Still surprised Dave Grohl wrote an interesting 20 minute instrumental

2006 Rock am Ring WTTJ opener is still the best opener, especially eith that 20 second scream

TWAT - he said this song was awesome, and that the guitar solo was epic
Prostitute - said it was a really cool song!, and he got Mars Volta vibes from it, mainly from the vocals. After he heard both Josh and Brains drums on the original(s), he said he thought the double kick drum part was sweet, "I’m not huge on the faster beat with it though tbh, i kinda preferred a slower heavier beat; i was going for more of a prog style with the drums where these versions sound more rock"
I didn't ask him what he thought of Better

See above

At 2:52 of State of Grace, I hear "I ask myself "for whats this meaning"? With the bold part being 99% he says that and the italic part being he probably says something like that
At 2:28 he says "You thought you had it figured out but now?????????"

Who is that guy? Friend of Duff's?
He was the lead in an aquaman marvel movie and he was on game of thrones

Argentina was cool musically, but vocally not so much for me, even though I still like it. Axl would have had to write new melodies and lyrics, and we know how long that takes.
Simple days (another rejected GNR song IIRC) chorus sounds A plus to me as a whole, but the verses need something else going on instead of what BBF wrote IMO
If Ron would have submitted more songs like his entire Hermit album (grungeish) I'm sure that would have caught Axls attention more

Any way to hear his TWAT and Prostitute? I quite enjoyed hearing that instrumental of Better. Guitar sounds good, too. Nice tone.
Let me know what you think!

Serial Killer is his best solo. This is fact

Sounds pretty good. Is this part of the “project” to add to the leaked tracks?
From the poster of the least constructive statement in this thread this far.
No was just curious how a different drummer would drum to the guitar parts. I have 2 other tracks

I'd reckon that anyone who visits any fan site of any kind should find something constructive to do with their time as well

I also had him listen to and drum to State of Grace, IRS, TWAT, Shackler's, Scraped, Prostitute, and Madagascar. With all of the tracks, I sent him drum and bassless versions so any rhythmic-locking-in that the bass track may have done would not influence them, while keeping all other instruments and vocals intact so he could feel the song
Was curious how an outside entity would drum to songs that we more or less know without any influence of how the drums are supposed to sound. Recently a bunch of old demos of these songs leaked online but with a different drummer. He played the same rhythmic parts but with slight variations. so that made me think: how a different drummer would play the songs from scratch
Soundcloud wouldn't let me upload the original instruments with vocals, so excuse my cover
edit: replaced the cover, with an improved cover
Thoughts?

He listened to an instrumental version of the song without most of BBF's guitars (with the exception of the vocals that are left in the "other instruments" track of the multitrack)
His thought's on the album version:
"haha I did the exact same snare thing at 0:31, but damn that tom beat is sweet. i really like the original. the main beats are very different than what i played. i like that tom beat a lot though"
Talking about the first verse riff and the chorus:
"yea I was really feeling that bass line and felt it should be almost funky there. I thought how I did those big chorus's with the slower feel was cool. I notice in the original the tempo feel doesnt change"

those were some nice solos from Bucket. Didnt even sound like him TBH, bc he used the absolute least amount of Bucket-isms on this song, like he actually took time to think about it rather than just wing it with his usual go-tos
-
I wish someone would ask "Do you remembered the exact parts you played on CD, or did you just wing it when relearning the songs that weren't played regularly in 2006/2009/2010"
Im always curious, bc even Slash doesnt play WTTJ's palm muted verses exactly how it is recorded on the album. Its close
"When recording, were you told that your parts would replace others, or that everyones rhythm track would be present in a mush of guitars"
-
I liked the first Avengers that i saw (the only one) but its just a movie about cheap laughs every 5 minutes.
That being said, I still think Spider Man 2 is the best Marvel movie. Its focused and reasonably serious as it can get

Idk man, but fuuuuckk ima go cRaZy if they play Paradise City, i looooove that song

Who even has a betamax nowadays
Ill buy it if it doesn't go over $175
Edit: the run times for each track are the same as whats listed on Wikipedia. Any reason why a potential Betamax AFD album version would be made back in 87?
The date is also interesting too. Maybe a mostly complete AFD with less vocal overdubs?

Itll sound like shit. CITR doesnt even have rasp except for one line in the outro (and even that is minimal), only a nice clean voice. Axl still manages to sound like shit on it live. Same with Prostitute. Ontop of that, he always cuts the words off short, or speed up the phrase. The phrasing is key, even if he uses distortion behind his voice
That being said, I would love to be proven wrong (by Axl). Ill still get excited seeing the songs being played though
I had a drummer listen and play to drumless versions of "Better" (as well as other Chinese-era tracks), never having heard the originals
