  1. I often wonder how famous people can just forget their old band / the TV or movie series that carried on without them, and not have a single clue what is going on with them.

It has to be some level of narcissism.

If he just simply wanted to make fun of Mr. Stinson, even worse.

A horrible sentence from Slash, nevertheless.

He didn't forget the name. He was being intentional when pretending to ignore Stinson. Which of course, proved 100% Slash is butthurt about GN'R and still cares about it.

(like if he really didn't care AT ALL, he wouldnt even know Duff was filling in)

  2. My claims are not wrong. It's just an opinion and it is based on some evidence that has all elements pointing at the fact that he knows the name rather than not.

I'm not saying they're wrong, I'm saying they're not facts. It's not a fact that he knows Tommy Stinson's name but even if it is, there's nothing to prove that Slash didn't genuinely forget his name.

Your opinion cannot be a fact. You can't state that it's impossible that Slash doesn't know who Tommy is. There's always a possibility that he made a snarky remark because Slash wanted to be an asshole but that's just assumption and it will stay that way until and if an audio of said interview surfaces.

Sorry, I didn't read the rest of your post because it didn't make sense to continue after the line I have quoted.

IT IS a fact he knows Tommy Stinson name because it is IMPOSSIBLE he does not. LOL.

If there's someone from NuGNR Slash has heard his name more than Axl's name, that is Tommy Stinson and that name came from the mouth of Duff McKagan in more than one ocassion (not to mention the amount of years Stinson has been NuGNR bassist).

That's okay if you didn't read the rest of my post because finally, after several years of life experience, I've learned how to deal with nutcases and egotistical fucks, so now I only feel sorry for them and give a :) to all of their crap.

♫♪ I'm sorry for you, not sorry for me.... ♫

    :)

  3. Wow, i think its too authoritarian to say he's done or finished. Love has no age!

I don't know about children. But he can still find someone. There are people who find their other half at 80 or 90, sometimes after their beloved spouse passed away.

One thing Axl would have to change though, it is his lifestyle, dating stupid models and stop hating everyone. I think the main reason why he can't find a wife or steady relationship is because he's too bitter inside. Erin or Stephanie are long gone! Come on, they look like grandmas now. He should get over that, it's been 20 years or more....

....and no. Erin and Steph still look pretty fabulous and have aged significantly more gracefully than their shared ex.

Im sorry but Erin looks like an anorexic tranny.... who's that kid with her? granddaughter?

I don't know how old she is now but surely old enough to not be wearing teenagers clothes. This aging thing sucks so much people want to remain toddlers forever :max:

Stephanie looks fine, though.... what I meant is that Axl should not be still thinking of these two women (or suffering for "what they did to him") and move on because they are not worth dying for anymore.

  4. Sad thing is Axl told Slash they would be the greatest band ever and make billions if he didn't leave. It was one of Axl's last pleas in his phone calls with Slash to get him to stay. Maybe that's why Axl is still bitter, because of what Slash gave up.

How do you know this? Honestly, first time I have heard about this.

I agree that Axl is still bitter because Slash left, and deep inside Axl wanted to work with him for the rest of his life. Axl loved Slash, simply loved him. Slash, in the other hand, didn't -- it seems.

I have the same impression about it. I wonder why Slash didn't like Axl that much :(

''I never said that I was bitter,'' Rose explains, characteristically concerned with making fine distinctions. ''Hurt, yeah. Disappointed. I mean, with Slash, I remember crying about all kinds of things in my life, but I had never felt hot, burning tears...hot, burning tears of anger. Basically, to me, it was because I am watching this guy and I don't understand it. Playing with everyone from Space Ghost to Michael Jackson. I don't get it. I wanted the world to love and respect him. I just watched him throw it away.''

Still looking for that part when Axl talks about the phone calls to Slash, but this is how Axl felt about Slash and why it's made him so mad.

I never read those words :o

Where is it from? Interview? can you give source, please?

Then you haven't read this page: http://www.a-4-d.com/t95-slash#113

    oh thank you!

  7. A 1997 Guns n Roses album would have been huge.

GN'R was rather passé in 1997, rap and R&B was in. I doubt a GN'R record in 1997 would have been among the top ten records that year, but this is just my speculation.

    You could be 100% right.

I think that one reason R&B/Rap and boring rock (think bands like Smashmouth and Matchbox 20) was so popular was because there wasn't anything out there like GnR. Some of the "rock hits" are songs that aren't considered good songs by huge bands - Bon Jovi, Metallica and Aerosmith. If Aerosmith had a hit with "falling in love is hard on the knees" or something like that, I think a kick ass You Could Be Mine type GnR album would have easily been a top 10 album.

Just my opinion though - I could be wrong. But I remember that time period and remember the "rock" albums I bought and listened to. I remember buying albums by bands like Great White, Dokken and Warrant in 96 or 97 and hoping they were going to be good. They weren't. I think a killer GnR album would have given the hard rock world a real shot in the arm.

I remember 1996 to be the year of Alanis Morissette (or was it 1998?).... She was the only "rock kind of thing" around back then.

The problem with the 90's decade is that it started great for rock roll with GNR, Metallica, Skid Row, R.E.M., RHCP, etc but soon grunge developed with Nirvana, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam. My theory is this happened because GNR got out of the picture and when Nirvana started to fade away, I remember those years to be really empty for GNR fans, full of desperation and anxiety.

Internet wasn't very popular during that time. I for sure didn't get online until 1998, so between 1994 and 1998, Gunners were going crazy. We wanted a new album because TSI wasn't enough. We got a bone with SFTD and Dead Flowers with Gilby Clarke (can't believe I bought Gilbys album only because of that song). But then bad news broke our hearts. It was official.

The end of the 90's was a mess: Alanis, Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Spice Girls, the Goo Goo Dolls, Usher...... Pop was coming back and RNR would never return as grandiose as in the beginning of the decade :(

Dunno how good a GNR album would have done in that period of time, but I remember being desperate for new album (that's why bought any crap like those mentioned above), so I'm pretty sure the fan base would have supported it. And that should have motivated them to keep making new great music while adapting to new times.

  8. Why dont you guys use some LOGIC?

If Slash knows Duff was filling in for Tommy during 7 dates (SA, GG, Vegas), there is absolutely NO WAY in hell he doesn't know Stinson. Even if Slash doesn't have a clue about Stinsons career, he DOES know him by name

This is the second time Slash comments on Duff returning to GNR. It's impossible he don't know the name.

    Impossible.

Let's use more of that logic you're speaking of.

Your claims for Slash knowing who Tommy Stinson is, are completely wrong. "Impossible" is a word you use in your post but, do you know what 'impossible' means? Eh, I think not, because you know, it's always possible.

Yes, maybe Duff said: "I'm filling in for Tommy Stinson, the current Gn'R bassist" or maybe he said "I'm filling in for the bassist Axl is currently working with" or maybe he said "I'm just filling in". So yes, Slash knew the name... or not but assuming he did, what if he just happened to forget it while answering the question? Again, that's possible. Let's just not pretend that people hear the name of someone and remember it for the rest of their lives. I have forgotten the names of people I used to go to high school with, people who used to be my friends. It's not that I was never able to remember, but at certain moment I would go: What was his name...?

Slash making his comment as a snarky remark can also be possible, and if he did it's just a terrible way to answer that question. No need to disrespect other artists, even if all they do is cover other people's music. That said, we don't know and we can't prove what was Slash's real attitude. If an audio appears, then we will have a final answer.

My claims are not wrong. It's just an opinion and it is based on some evidence that has all elements pointing at the fact that he knows the name rather than not.

Basing your opinion on a 50-50 guilty/not guilty is too easy and safe. I have evidence to back up my POV and I can defend it:

    Let's see:

    - Duff didn't fill in 1 SOLELY TIME. He's played a bunch of GNR dates this semester. I would understand Slash not remembering a one time thing. But this was like 7 times in a 2 months span and apparently they have spoken about it. If Duff tells Slash he's going to do that, it means they have constant communication (can't say on a daily basis but it looks like they do tell each other that kind of shit) so yeah, the odds of him not knowing the name of the person his friend is replacing sounds "impossible" to me.

    - Ok, let's assume he knows the name but forgot during the interview... There should be a ? by the end of "what's his name". There isn't. There is not even a closing quotation mark, which I find strange. But in case he had forgotten the name, it would be polite of the journalist to help Slash remember and not reproduce such a mistake in the printed interview (just like you wouldn't write your interviewee sneezed while talking to you, unless it was relevant for the story). So yeah, assuming printed interview is correct and no ? or " are missing, it's safe to say Slash may have forgotten the name (or not) but he had no intention to be polite when referring to Stinson (saying bassist or bass comes to mind easier and quicker than going what's-his-naming Tommy).

    - You say you have forgotten names from your past, so do I. Actually, recently some ex-coworker came to my kind and I couldn't remember his name anymore. So I spent a couple days trying to remember. I had to look into some documents because I couldn't remember and I became intrigued.... But you know why I didn't remember? Because it's been like 4 years since I last saw that person or even spoke to someone related to him.

This ain't Slash case. He has recently spoken to Duff about this GNR thing. I'm sure Duff has mentioned Tommy with full name (or at least last name) to Slash. So yeah, it's impossible Slash has not heard that name in the last 3 months. If I had heard the name of my ex-coworker sometime this year, I wouldn't have forgotten at all.

    - Slash making a snarky remark is highly likely if we pay attention to the rest of the article this quote is in. Actually the comment on Duff is by the end of the interview. Before that, he speaks about many things and makes harsh comments on Miley Cirus, Metallica, Michael Jackson as an hologram and the bands that resort to visual stuff to draw more attention to their acts). The whole thing portrays an irreverent Slash who talks like a badass rockstar.

That said we must trust printed interview is correct, nothing is missing and his quotes are literal, therefore, he was being a jackass because that's the mood he put in for this interview.

  9. There's no way to know, but one thing is for sure, if they had kept releasing albums steadily, they would be one of the greatest bands ever.

That's where Axl and everybody else failed, not thinking years ahead, and not accepting that is perfectly fine to make OK music once in a while. Not like every album had to be like AFD. And if that next album had failed, they could have created a new one next year. I dunno why this worked different for GNR, when most successful bands mentioned above never got stuck.

It definitely had to do with their personalities and horrible egos. Shitty people ruining an awesome band.

I don't know about Axl making a solo album...who would have convinced him of that? Can't believe how insecure he is with all the talent he has.... Terrible mistakes.

  10. Slash was a key part of GNR so naturally he still wants to be a part of it, but I think he would have rather seen Axl give up the GNR name where they could have all put it behind them. It wasn't an "I win, Axl loses", it was just a band that should have imploded and died in his opinion.

Axl didn't want to give up what he worked hard for, didn't want to stop being a headliner, and without that GNR name, "Axl Rose" would be playing bowling alleys for 20 bucks like other frontmen from other bands do. There's no way he could have gotten away with ChiDem on his own and he was clear about that. He said it would have been suicide.

Slash trying to go to a GNR concert and show up at Axl's home was Perla's doing/encouragement.

I don't think that would have happened to Axl if he had reborn quickly from all the crap. By the end of the 90's he was still hot, slim, great voice.

If he had come back as a solo act and with amazing songs, he would have become bigger than GNR.

Problem is he got depressed after the tour, Stephs break up and the story we know.... :(

  11. Why is it that Slash must be insulting Stinson just because he doesn't know his name?

Gee I don't know, perhaps because he knows exactly who Tommy Stinson is.

Do people actually think Slash doesn't maintain a keen interest in the activities of GNR? If so, you are totally withdrawn from reality. That's NOT the way the music industry works. Nobody lets go.

    lolwut?

You honestly think Slash sits around looking into what's going on with GN'R? You cannot be serious.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't say that Slash was reading setlist updates on MyGNRForum. The exaggeration you've made is completely unnecessary. But YOU cannot be serious when you say that Slash doesn't follow a band which he absolutely resents with all his heart. If you honestly think that Slash doesn't know exactly what's going with GNR, then you have to question your grasp on reality.

Honestly, judging by the delusions here, you would think that Slash is constantly leading the life of a rockstar. Slash is way too cool to know Tommy Stinson's name, he's swigging Jack Daniels as we speak!! FFS. :rofl-lol:

I didn't say he was sitting around reading this (or any other GN'R forum for that matter ;) ) I was saying that he has no reason to keep up with what goes on with GN'R at all, in any fashion. It's not a matter of being a rock star, swigging JD or anything at all like that. It's a simple matter of the possibilty that Slash actually might not be aware of who Tommy Stinson is.

Why dont you guys use some LOGIC?

  12. They both make me CRY of pain. Horrible shit.

    BUT

Cypress Hill version, at least has Slash and Duff playing. Problem are those two guys who can't fuckin save it when the singing part comes. Which proves rappers are not musicians or singers, they can't sing for shite. Even Duff and Slash put better voices than those idiots.

It is lame from all angles.

Fergie is a poser cunt who ruins it mostly because she's a failure.

  13. Wow, i think its too authoritarian to say he's done or finished. Love has no age!

  14. AFAIK Axl's siblings are still around. There was a photo of his sister at the last Vegas residency, and I heard that his brother worked on the 2006 tour. The lack of photos might be for their privacy and personal security more than anything else, the same way we don't see photos of the other guys' families too often. There's no reason they SHOULD be in photos.

Not posing for photos but accidentally appearing by Axl's side when he's going somewhere... it's unavoidable if they were close to him like Beta and kids are.

Depends where they're going. Axl's siblings likely aren't going clubbing with him.The paparazzi don't follow him everywhere. I haven't seen a lot of photos of Del James with Axl either, but there's no doubt that they're very close. In the 90s Axl's sister lived with him for a while and was his tour personal assistant during Illusions, and you still didn't see a lot of photos of her. I think I remember seeing one or two, and that was it.

Del James is EVERYWHERE, are you kidding me?
