Axl Rose - Glastonbury
colonizedmind replied to Dangom1's topic in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS
Yea they were great but don't think he ran as much after not long being back from the foot injury....to be 7 years older and giving energy such as that, was a pleasant surprise. -
Great review!!! It's so much better than we were probably expecting a few weeks ago. Twitter is much more positive than AM Friday....the negative folk on here saying we were getting too hyped and excited are in hiding too... We know his vocal capability now but that absolutely was a night for the ages and anyone thinking he could of given more at 61 is probably not a realist. We were right to be pumped...now if only they'd put something out right about NOW!!! https://amp.theguardian.com/music/2023/jun/25/guns-n-roses-at-glastonbury-review-pyramid-stage

It's not just the zealous fans.... Great review here and I expected the left wing Guardian to rip them a new one for lyrics and lauguage... https://amp.theguardian.com/music/2023/jun/25/guns-n-roses-at-glastonbury-review-pyramid-stage -

The most energy since the reunion began....especially as he had the injury in '16! He gave everything vocally but when he started running from the start and we are all like "pace yourself man!" He was flat out especially that first 30-40 minutes. It's like he recharged his batteries for this one specifically...you probably won't see him move as much all tour. It was fantastic to see. Far more energetic than AM who are almost half his age! -
Yep...someone needs to put that audio over the UHD footage... Did you see the footage? Man ran more last night than he has the other 7 dates this tour combined...and that's not actually an exaggeration...as he normally does the fast walkmthese days but he genuinely seemed to be knowing that this is going out to a huge music audience, his hero is doing his last tomorrow (today) and he gave a very rare performance. I wish they were fucking playing Glasto every night....let's be honest, we need to enjoy this, that will undoubtedly be gig of the tour! Overall.

It probably thinned out when Lana started apparently...still looked massive on the TV. Sing alongs sounded loud too. On a forum from a Glasto going vet Long term poster turned off by the negativity here… back. Think it’s time for a lot of you to eat your hat on GNR. It wasn’t a giant crowd and Axl’s voice has long been scotched. But the turnout was far from a humiliation. The singalongs rocked. Flares going off and no exodus as predicted. Best of all? They visibly relished the chance to prove people wrong. Have to have played their best set in decades And on time. What’s happening to the world. You can make your jibes about Macca doing a better Live and Let Die or gaps at the back, but it’s time to face the facts Only thing sadder than a geriatric GNR? People on here who spent six months gnashing teeth, predicting they’d flop and go down as an all-time worst headline set… only for it to be pretty good fun Better luck next time?

It was perfect for what it was, a big festival moment....from a selfish point of view...would of loved some Don't cry (which seems to have left the set for now) and Anything Goes. But there's always something we want more,.huh? Just gotta.hope he can do that again in a future stream/live release....for those other numbers Yep....she is very avant-garde. Expressionistic and theatrical. She just did a song with Madge weirdly....

The mix was good, just weird with axl's voice dropping out from time to time. Duff solo sounded great, so maybe his mic had issues? Either way, nothing you can't fix in post. He performed tonight like he would want to release that....band were great! No Axl Rose disaster 4...it's been averted! yeiiiii boiiiiiiiiii

Last call and response on KOHD was goosebumps....crowd, the moment, lots of best in a long time performances tonight and that's what you call a great gig....not folks critising he can't return to decades before vocals. Brilliant night. Thanks for the ride and awesome busy thread. Btw listen with headphones, better vocals like that I found! Axl has a mojo about him tonight that allowed him, maybe for the first time to really stand out as the best in the band....and I do take overall performance and not just vocals boys and girl
