    and KOHD, let's not forget

He played Back Off Bitch live too.

He would also have played Bad Obsession, in rehearsal at least, as they wrote that in the early days. Same with YCBM, that was an AFD era written song. Also, you can hear him play drums on demo versions of Locomotive, Don't Damn me, Dust N Bones and Garden of Eden on the Full Mates rehearsal on youtube. Plus he drummed on lots more uyi tracks in the writing process: Perfect Crime, November Rain, Coma, 14 Years, Yesterdays. They are listed on various rehearsal lists on setlist.com.

So he has actually played loads of UYI.

I have this on cassette but no way of uploading it? Slash says something about his Nan finding a Rubber in the toilet and they make a joke about mayonnaise!

i remember that!! damn i want to hear the whole thing again now.

  3. this is what he says about the subject in the Axlchat:

The whole whose it about bit w/songs doesn't work for me that much as in whether a line or whatever was inspired by a particular person or situation doesn't mean that in the end that's what or who the song's about.

I could be working with clay and think of someone or something and somehow that could inspire me to take the work in a different direction at the moment but in the end it could just be a nice vase.

I often wonder where the people who inspired so many songs are now and why it's only important with some songs such as Layla as opposed to others. I'm guessin' a fair # of beautiful love songs or otherwise were inspired by some that the artists and public might consider now or in hindsight to be the opposite of how they are depicted or allegedly represented.

With Sorry.. like a lot of the material is drawn from a lot of different situations. The main focus on the boards w/the track seems to be either Slash or "the fans" (and the collective of "the fans" is another thing that doesn't work for me) and is much too restrictive or narrow and limits what I feel I intended.

For me it's for anyone talking nonsense at mine and the public's expense and that many of those as well as the public don't know who to believe.

Also where possible I'd like to give people the opportunity to get what they can from the material for a while before clouding that with my inspirations. Of course that's not always avoidable.

  4. there's been discussion about how he should have remedied the situ... but what's the answer to my original question, i.e. what caused him to play with an out of tune guitar? is it because the previous song was played in an unusually tuned guitar and he forgot to switch, or what?

it seems a calamitous mistake for a professional to make.

Out Ta Get Me was played (at least) 40 times in 1988, but only four times in 1991 and seven times in 1992.

Used To Love Her was played (at least) 29 times in 1988 bt only eight times in 1991, none in 1992 but a lot in 1993.

Whole Lotta Rosie was not played in the 90s, occasionally before.

You're Crazy was played (at least) 31 times in 1988 but only three times in 1991 and never in 1992. It was picked up again in 1993, though, and played 45 times.

Think About You was played a lot in 1987 (and at least twice in 1988), but never in the 90s.

Nice Boys was played now and then in the 80s, but was not played in 1991 and 1992. It was played 12 times in 1993.

Mama Kin wa splayed a lot in 1987 but only once in the 90s (once in 1993).

Back Off Bitch was played a lot in 1985 and '96, but only once in the 90s.

Anything Goes was a staple in early shows, but went out of favour in 1987 and hasn't been played since then.

Same goes for Reckless Life, although it was placed thrice in 1993.

Heartbreak Hotel, Jumpin' Jack Flash and Shadow Of Your Love was played a lot in the beginning but never after the 80s.

Generally speaking, they stopped playing some covers because they had more of their own, original material to play. In the 90s they also had the UYIs songs to play, so they had to make some cuts in play lists leaving some of the older songs out. Some of these returned to the playlists in 1993, though, as they changed things up again.

thanks, that seems comprehensive - although it says mama kin was only played once in the 90s (in 93) but it is on the Paris 92 pay per view show w/Tyler as well?

EDIT - i see that's already been corrected, sorry

  6. And why did they stop playing them?

    As far as i know:

Out ta get me wasn't played during UYI tour? though it was a staple before that. it resurfaced in the 2000s though, depite it being a bit of a stretch for Axl to sing

Anything goes seems to have disappeared from the list soon as they were actually touring AFD and never on UYI tour. I guess they got sick of it since it's so old, going back to Hollywood Rose era

Think About You hardly got played, though I heard it in2006 when Izzy returned

Other UYI songs which date back to the AFD era like Back Off Bitch, which was only really played in the early club days..?

  7. If I was Team Brazil I would be taking legal action to have all traces of this performance removed lol

Led Zeppelin banned video release of their Live Aid gig with Phil Collins didn't they, because they thought it sucked.. though it's available now

personally I can't see that much particularly with the LZ performance apart from their 80s wardrobes :/
