  1. I think people are over sensitive to the Izzy not being part of the band topic and that is why it constantly springs up everywhere. Many people who argue the band's side in this situation are not bashing Izzy. Just as not all people who support Izzy's side in this think that band suck or are greedy assholes or whatever.

Of course there are some out there. And there are a few very vocal people with those opinions and they always jump in to feed the flames that this topic has to be either Team Izzy or Team GNR. Which is not the case and it makes it tough for any one to discuss the the topic itself which is already touchy.

It is touchy because passionate fans of Izzy are over sensitive to any perceived criticism aimed at Izzy. Passionate fans of the current GNR collective are over sensitive to any perceived criticism aim that the current GNR. In many cases fans on both sides of the argument are sick of feeling like they are being told they are wrong- being told they should like what they like or that they should like what they don't. In many cases this is not what is happening at all. It is just perceived that way. In a few cases it does end up there because that is where the discussion spirals down to.

I personally love speculation and discussion. I like exploring ideas with others. It is very difficult to do that when everyone gets their claws out to defend their territory. And it spreads to every thread.

Mygnrforum is a passionate fanbase and we just have to deal with the conflict sometimes. But the conflicting views are what makes it enjoyable to be a part of.

No, nothing about all about that (which is interesting). The book focuses on Steven's troubled life. It does use GN'R as the vehicle for a lot of his madness, but at the heart, this is a book about addiction, from his mother's point of view, and all the struggles she dealt with as his unofficial business manager, and, at times, she's even critical of Steven on a lot of the business dealings and accusations he's made about her. This is not a Steven Adler biography; it's about drug abuse, GN'R, and what it's like to be the mother of a rockstar. I enjoyed reading it, although, to be honest, some of the stuff about Deanna's life that had nothing to do with GN'R or Steven sort of bored me. I guess if you're a GN'R purist, this book can drag, but there's some cool stuff about the Gardner space, Slash, Axl's mom, Donington, Steven's stroke, his Will...it can be pretty dark!

Was there anything that stuck out to you as really interesting that made you mull over it a bit? Something that made you think: I never thought about it like that.

  3. Can we drop this conversation? There really is no point in keeping it going. You cannot shame someone who only cares about filling their pockets into changing their ways. It will not happen. You will only give yourself a head ache because they don't care. All they care about is themselves. You might as well beat your head against a brick wall. About the only thing you could do is not buy the marked up loot and contact who GNR management and hope they make changes in their policies.

I am allergic to cats but no way was I getting rid of my Sadie...so I do allergy shots, take an antihistamine, have an air filter,  vacuum a lot, etc. It's worth it absolutely! :)

Lots of respect for that. I suppose I'd find a way if I was allergic my old pup. With the allergies I have I have to take allergy meds all year round. Most days I am okay with cats for short amounts of time, but anything longer or when my allergies are getting kicked up in general despite my meds then cats quickly push it past the tipping point and make my life miserable.

These are our 2 bitches, I mean babies. (Just kidding- I love em). Left is Leland Scruggs (girl but kind of a boys name- long story- I like how she looks like she's laughing here). Right is Whiskey Rose Jones- also a long story involving the old lady wanting to get a 2nd cat, me whiskey drunk, and a wager about a GnR reunion...

    IMG_1747.JPG

I love this pic. Whiskey Jones Rose reminds me of my grandma's cat. The cat would always have to jump on my lap so I could scratch her chin. By the time I left I'd be completely covered in black cat hair and so would the chair I was sitting in. My grandma would always scold me for scratching the cat because all the hair we'd leave behind during shedding season.

Protip- When you are mildly allergic to cats being covered in cat hair is not usually the best path to being able to breath. ;)

  6. I see...Duff is now showing his true intentions. He is planning on taking over the world! He who controls the traffic controls the city. Seattle is just the beginning of this devious plot. Once he has Seattle he will move on to the next city and then next. Soon he will have taken over the whole state's transportation department and moved on to other states. Next thing we will know all other countries will have fallen to his traffic engineering schemes and he will rule the world!

Seattle must stand strong and protect us from this threat. Only they can prevent the Duff. They must stand strong and take pride in their horrible traffic and keep Duff from taking over the world and remaking it in his image.

  7. I can get why Pitman might have been frustrated and blew up.  I know nothing about what happened, but I can only imagine he likely put a lot of time and effort into unreleased music. It is possible that he saw the release of music he helped create on the horizon* then Slash and Duff suddenly return. Not only is this music put on the back burner, but there is the potential that it is shelved entirely now that Slash is back. That could frustrate anyone. I always figured he rage quited out of frustration. It is equally possible Duff and Slash got him kicked out because they could not tolerate towel abuse.

*whether that was a mirage or not is another thing entirely

I am not heartbroken he is gone. I don't mind Melissa in his place. I like her backing vocals and I am amused by the way the forum completely falls apart when she posts to social media. Otherwise I pretty much forget about her at all other times.

There is this closer video (starts at 15:36), but it's still difficult to tell who he's saying it to (he also said something else with "beautiful" right before that) because the stage lights were out.

    "You're beautiful too, Frank."

I love that for some reason.  I am not even going to try to figure out why.

Fall to Pieces is redundant? What the hell is This I Love then? lol

I am not a fan of the lyrics to Fall to Pieces while I don't mind This I Love's lyrics all that much. I don't hate Fall to Pieces by any means, but think they are a little over repetitive. Your comment made me wonder about that so I decided I need to go see if I could figure out why that is.

Some interesting stats (excel what can't it do?):

    Fall to pieces:

    Total words:  170
    # different words:  48
    Top used word:
word      # used    percentage of song
        I'm            15       8.82%
        Falling        14       8.24%
        I                14       8.24%
        Pieces        13       7.65%
        To             12       7.06%
        Fall            10       5.88%
        All               9       5.29%
        Alone           9       5.29%
        Down          9       5.29%
        Every          8       4.71%
        Total#         113      66.47%

    This I love:

    Total words    299
    # different words    109
    Top used word:
word    # used    percentage of song
        I              16       5.35%
        ME           16       5.35%
        She            8       2.68%
        So              8       2.68%
        her             7       2.34%
        It               7       2.34%
        God            6       2.01%
        the             5       1.67%
        eyes          5        1.67%
        say            5        1.67%
        Total #      83       27.76%

The top ten used words in Fall to Pieces takes up 66% of the song and truthfully, Fall, Falling and Fell are all similar to my ear and if you account for that the top ten words is 75% of the song. Falling to Pieces is repetitive. This I Love may be overly sappy or whatever, but it is not nearly as repetitive.

    Lol really?

They only play like two shows a week. They are working maybe a total of 10 hours a week. Show up to work at 7 pm and do a show then have several days off in a row. Their schedule is a cake walk compared to the average person.

And they aren't sharing hotel rooms. These guys are staying in the finest luxury suites that money can buy. They each have their own suite, and that suite is nicer and more expensive than anything you or I could ever afford in our wildest dreams.

They have their own personal chefs, maids, butlers and masseuses.

All while getting paid close to a million dollars a week.

The normal person on this forum works harder than the boys in GnR do.

And that somehow means they can't get exhausted of being away from home and staying in a series of hotel rooms while they are constantly traveling from one country to another another country every handful of days?

Having a lot of money does not make them less human.

Okay.. so the final numbers aren't in yet but so far we get the idea...

    http://www.tonedeaf.com.au/498425/guns-n-roses-sold-350000-tickets-australia-nz.htm

Guns are slaying every market, and with this momentum they are gonna kick U2 from No.1!!

Anyways still Japan and Singapore and Dubai and Bangkok remain to be updated...

    --

What I am amazed is - are Guns really being screwed over by the numbers? I mean how can it be first night at Sydney which was sold out only 50k? when Taylor Swift (where the whole GA area was sitting) and ACDC had like 75k... Something's highly inconsistent..

    Take a look for yourself...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stadium_Australia#Concerts

When I was looking at numbers and stuff last year it became clear that promoters play the numbers game a lot so they can call their show a sell out. Likely because it is easier to promote an act that sell out shows since people put a lot of weight on that word for some reason. If they offer only 500 tickets in a venue that has 10000 person capacity they can call the show a sellout because they sold all the tickets they offered up for sell.  Part of it is genuine- different stage setups mean different numbers of seats are available, but a lot of it is just rearranging how they sell tickets so their numbers look better to people who are impressed by that.

If they told him the plan was fly all the way to Argentina so you can play for 3mins in front of his wife and her family then they are even bigger A-Holes than what is being suggested

Would it have been kinder/ less assholish to not invite him at all?

I still wonder what is people trying to argue.

Steven came to Argentina and was allowed to play only one song at each show. That is a disgusting thing to do and it's not up to discussion. It doesn't matter if that's the original arrengement or not, it's something disgusting to do to an old friend (and the fans, we were over the moon having Steven here and the band didn't care even when it meant no effort to let him play one more song each night at least). They had Angus Young (who I love but has NOTHING to do with GNR) playing two covers at three shows in a row but they couldn't let Steven play at least the two songs he had been playing with them at both shows. If you're ok with this, if you don't see how fucked up it is, then I'm sorry but you don't have a fucking heart.

What are people arguing? I am arguing that we don't know what all is involved and there are people on both sides of this issue. You call it disgusting and fucked up and not open to discussion. I disagree. Maybe it is a terminology issue. Because I do think it sucks, but as I don't know what all went down I can't call it anything worse than that. I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't mean to disparage Steven in my comments, I try to point out why the other side may have valid reasons for their actions. The other side might just be being sadistic assholes or they may wanted him involved, but had their reasons on why they were limiting it to guest appearances. As you have said, these reasons could be wide and varying. Yes you are only talking about Argentina, but the same applies to Argentina as it does to the rest of the tour. How it all ended up going down in Argentina really, really sucks in my opinion. I can't put fault at either side because I don't know how the misunderstanding came about.

I get that for some fans it does not matter what happened.  Izzy and Steven not being full time members means it all sucks to them. Or at the very least has a dark shadow over everything. That is perfectly fine. There is nothing wrong with us wanting a perfect storybook ending. I want it too. We will likely argue over it, of course, because there is a difference between wanting it and expecting others to make changes to derail their lives to give it to us. Plus, I am sure there are other fans out there who have a different perfect ending in mind that they'd prefer to happen. We will always argue over that as well. Especially when we perceive someone else taking a stance that is different than ours or when we perceive (mistakenly or not) that someone is passing their opinion off as indisputable.

We all like to share our thoughts and beliefs. It is unlikely we will ever change anyone else's opinion, but we still like to argue it all the same.

So the plan was to let him fly 15,000 miles for a whole 3mins? Got it

So you are saying they lied to Steven and told him that if he flew the little over 12000 miles to Buenos Aires he'd get to play the whole concert? Or something more then the two songs they had been giving him previously?
