if Izzy did not show up when Steven was out there, there is a better chance of Buckethead coming out and playing a reunion at this point

In GNR world, it wouldn't surprise me if he came out and did "14 Years," then drove home before the bow at the end. All 5 guys there and still no full reunion lol.

  2. Lots of suggestions to work through.  Thanks everybody!

Already into these guys ever since seeing them open for Slash. Without a doubt in the top 3 live acts I've seen perform!! I wish they were still a band, but Alex (the trumpet player) has a band called the Skullx, who are basically the Foxy Shazam spinoff.

What did Dizzy do to save the song? I've watched all 3 angles and still can't tell what the fuck was going on. The bad notes still come back at the end. It doesn't really look like Dizzy's arms were moving like it was him playing them. But Axl thought it was him. Then the Axl comment "I don't mind ghosts & goblins, but I wish they'd learn the fuckin song".  Any idea what was going on back there?

The more I see, the less I'm even sure about that.  From my section, it just looked like Dizzy playing it.

  4. Short Review from Section 605:

    1. Skrillex... just no.
    2. Axl = Best in years
    3. Slash = Guitar Deity
    4. Frank was off in Rocket Queen for a bit, and a couple of other songs, BUT the acoustics at NRG Stadium have a HUGE echo, so I can't really pick on him.
    5. Guy (who reminded me of "My Name is Earl") kept yelling "WOO!" and "WRECK IT UP!" in my ear on rotation for two hours. Like a Woody the Cowboy doll pulling a string for the same two phrases all night.
    6. The Seeker is WAY better live, and I gained respect for it.
    7. You could cut the tension in the air with a knife when Axl's piano broke. Quite honestly, Dizzy Reed saved the song. Glad Axl laughed it off.

Maybe not the only one but one of be few.

Its tough to sell a cover. Any song, any artist. It's just a weird one because you have guns n roses covering it regardless of ashba and bumblefoot vs slash Being in the band. Doesn't matter who's there, or who isn't, they play that song. A very random one too. Which is an Axl decision, no one else's clearly.

I don't think it's the end of the world covering the seeker but, it's strange to do it considering the circumstances. And there's a long list of GNR classics fans miss and probably hoped would be dusted off with slash and duff rejoining axls band.

I like it, but not when it's played in lieu of "Don't Cry" or a big one like that.  If it's on a new album, I'd consider it validated the way KOHD and LALD were.

  6. Hey fellow Gunners,

This veers pretty far off of GNR, but I recently released a Southern Rock/Texas Country album entitled "A LONG TIME COMING" (because it took five years to get into the studio - about a third of an Axl timeline).

In a nutshell, it's what happens when someone listens to "It's So Easy" and Willie Nelson and decides to make music.

Again, it's different from the norm on here, but I hope you'll give it a listen!

    ALBUM: Preview in iTunes

  7. Good topic thread, OP.

For me, my big one is Don't Cry (so they better actually play it in Houston), but it came in stages.

    1. Heard Welcome to the Jungle while driving through the middle of nowhere, and my mind was blown. The next week, while training to me our college's mascot, we used it as a pump-up, and it's been my alarm clock, ring tone, pump up jam, etc. for years since.
    2. I used Paradise City for a theme song before a talk show I filmed in college, and at the campus pep rallies I ran.
    3. I used Mr. Brownstone for a political ad when running for a campus office.
    4. Patience takes me back to fall of senior year of college, when my group of friends (still like family today) first formed.
    5. Aaaaaaaaand Don't Cry was the song that convinced me to ask my wife out on our first date. Hence, favorite.
    6. Like someone said above, the rest is history.
