The speculation here about AFD5 is totally unfounded unfortunately, as the promo videos point to exactly the opposite. If there is one thing that these videos can't be blamed for, is misleading the public: they made it clear that it's all about the "big 3"; what else should they do so as people stop hoping that an AFD5 reunion could happen?

I'm not suggesting it's gonna be a new song, but compared to AFD5 it's more likely.

I wanna agree but, idk. The band is just so hell bent on only acknowledging the big 3

What are you talking about? Axl should feel honoured to sing for a band as prestigious as AC/DC and it's obvious that he does, regardless of what he's achieved in his own career. And you should be proud that he's doing so well if you're a fan of his.

(Obviously you can feel and act however you want) I just find it odd if you're an Axl fan that having him in AC/DC isn't exciting for you. It's one of the greatest collaborations I've ever seen and some of the best, if not the best, vocal performances he's ever done.

It's been cool but the idea of him recording and releasing new music with ACDC before GNR is just straight laughable

Yes. Me too. I don't think they have very warm feelings towards him. I mean, he's the guy that was forced on them and ended up being in the band longer than any of them (in the position of Axl's little lapdog/charity case) and talked crap about them after they left, instead of just keeping his mouth shut.

Yeah but that wouldn't matter now, would it? Axl called Slash a cancer. Dizzy never really never said anything worse than that... I mean I think he was just trying to promote Nu-GNR and should have went about it in a better way but, his comments weren't that bad but... idk, it does amaze me that Slash and Duff never really got asked about Dizzy. Can't imagine there's any heat between the two sides at this point..

    I have to agree....

Again, I've ben consistently saying that this is still Axl's band at the end of the day, Slash and Duff aren't completely as equal. If they were, wouldn't Axl, Slash, and Duff have an equal vote on who plays guitar? Or even, who plays drums? I doubt they even voted on Melissa Reese or Chris Pitman... Idk, I'm sure someone is still massively offensive over me taking this position but, I just find it hard to believe that Slash and Duff have an equal say. If they did, I doubt they would have voted Frank in as the drummer (Richard's comments back that up). Maybe over Adler since there's too much risk there, but over Sorum, or another free agent drummer that would play the songs the way they should as well as be even easier to work with?! hell, I honestly don't think they would have voted in Fortus as a member over Izzy. Fortus was an Axl hand picked guy, gilby Clarke was a slash/duff hand picked guy. I truly believe there's things that Slash and Duff would like to do differently as well with new music and the set list as well as other things but, why speak up to Axl and risk the tour ending tomorrow?! The important thing is getting paid $$$$

    There it is.

    Straight from the horse's mouth.

Frank didn't click with Slash and Duff.  Yet they still went ahead with it.

    Conclusion ?

Axl forced Frank (and Fortus) on them.

A real reunion (+Izzy/Matt) was never considered.

Axl let Slash and Duff join HIS band, only because he was a few members short...

How did it ever come to this  ?

Unfortunately, Axl owns the name. As far as he's concerned, at the end of the day, its his band. I've said it in here a  million times, and some around here just fear the words and don't like me for speaking that apparent truth... But it is what it is. It's Axl's band. Slash and Duff clearly have a legal right as to at and not getting screwed over but, it's beyond clear that with any legal contract or release, Axl has the final say/sign off on anything. From Slash and Duff's point of view, they have no other choice, and it's probably not worth protesting over since the GNR thing has followed them around no matter what they've done in their careers. Maybe they feel that they can slowly but surely ease Axl into other things he doesn't want to do over time... not sure about that but, we'll see.

    Dizzy always forgotten.

    Nobody clicked with him?

I'm probably in the minority, which I don't completely understand but, I do wonder what it was like for Slash and Duff to start jamming with Dizzy again, especially for Slash. Not sure if they ever even crossed paths over the years Slash was out of GNR but, idk, that relationship was just always intriguing to me because, we don't know as much about Dizy's relationship...he's never discussed on GNR bio anything

Well, at the time they had Zig Zag and i'm pretty sure he would've been promoted to a official bandmate had they stayed together.

I would agree with that... hell, he was in how many music videos with the band even? NR, yesterdays, Estranged, even garden of eden just head banging in the background with Dizzy.

There are still 3 (4 if you count Dizzy) aliens in this band, and 2 of them occupy Izzys and Stevens spots. Many times I watched a show last year Axl often mentioned that Fortus been there for 15 years and comments like that, as a way to push Frank and Fortus onto the fans and show how they should be on this tour and not Izzy or Steven or Matt. IMO he will never do a full show with either of the classic guys unless Fortus and Frank resign by themselves

I perescoped plenty of shows. I will agree about Izzy/Fortus. I do think if Fortus had quit when Ashba did, there's a better chance Izzy would be there. I don't think that about Adler though, I think he's too risky still and I do think he should be involved but if Frank quit, who knows. Call Sorum? Maybe call Freese? I don't count Dizzy as an "alien" as he was a part of that 85-93 era band that we all knew and loved but, I do think the second keyboard player would have happened no matter what. Axl likes as many people on stage as possible to cover up any potential mistakes..

What about the same argument Axl used for not showing up at the hall of fame, that it would be detrimental to the current line ups work? It still applies to the current situation. I don't see the AFD reunion happening in the middle of this tour

No but he has tried to get Izzy and Steven to both guest on the current tour, as guests. I mean, if he can get on stage with Slash then anything is possible. And that already happened so... I'm not saying that makes it more likely but, idk anything to me is possible with this band. Bringing Slash back alone pretty much buried Nu-GNR as it is so..

People are calling it a cash grab but their hero Izzy isn't included in the NITL tour because he wanted more of the money. Hilarious.

That's kind of/sort of a part of it. The money is there to pay Izzy, yet they don't want to. The big 3 are already making big money to begin with so, its not like they need every penny to survive. They're avoiding touring in parts of the world that haven't seen this incarnation of GNR, to go back and hit markets that they already sold very well. They came, saw, conquered already, yet need to go back?? Yeah... because you might care about giving your fans what they want but, you want to line up your pocket even more. Aka CASH GRAB. If you, me, and two other buddies come up with a successful business chain, you come up with the slogan and I only wanna pay you chump change, you might be offended too. And what does that say about me? It's not rocket science..

Some just don't like the truth of this being a cash grab because they don't want to acknowledge that their heroes care about getting into their wallets first...whatever, fine, not everyone can live in the real world. Maybe they're seeing it darker than the way things are. I'm not going to lose my mind over Izzy or anyone else not being there, it's better that Slash and Duff are back than Axl hiring two other no names so, things could be worse. But we're not even getting new material, we're not getting massive changes to the set list, we're not getting a lot of things that we could be getting and it's disappointing.

So yeah, our favorite band can do something and calling them on it doesn't make one a bad person

I said this in another topic, but I will say it here too cause its fitting.  A lot of people here in my opinion are stuck in 1987 and want that image of a band living on the streets banging chicks and rehearsing in a seedy rehearsal space in LA.  Its called the music "business" for a reason, I feel like to me the talks of cash grabs are just silly, of course people want money.  If I could command millions of dollars having fun with people on stage playing great tunes in the largest venues in the world, I would do that for as long as I could.

I've always argued the same concept at Bills games. It's crazy to me that they charge 11 bucks a beer, but if people buy them, then why not?!?! I get the business side to it and it's one that GNR could never avoid but, that doesn't mean they strengthen any sort of integrity when it comes to the cash grab we're watching now.

Doesn't mean anything. Even if Izzy and Steven join them on stage for AfD30 this will have nothing to do with it.

No but, I do find it interesting that not much has come out of this thread yet. I mean, we're all having a great time discussing what this billboard could mean but idk, if it was just a gig f the current lineup in LA, wouldn't they just have announced it by now? Or are they waiting for the tour to sell more....or...?

I'd like to think they're trying to do something in LA in July to celebrate AFD30 and they want to involve all 5 guys, even if its just a one off. It would make sense to me that nthings been announced because not everyone is on board yet..
