Obviously I was kidding, you can't compare an 80s rocker playing a cover to a young and modern artist who has the marketing machine of the Eurovision to help him. As for The General not being well received, depends where you look, on YT it gets mostly positive reactions, obviously not here because this is MYGNR.

pfft, that's nothing, the entry to the Eurovision from my country hit almost 14 million views after three weeks and that's a relatively unknown artist.

Beth is going to cater for the Forrester party and Brooke is going to meet Ridge for the first time.

Night and he's carrying a bag out of the gas station, that's how I look too. Hopefully he was having more fun than I did.
Yeah, people here are nuts. He is just wearing something comfortable and casual while going to a store.

They started re-running the Bold from the beginning. Caroline found out Ridge cheated on her and Rocco is pretending to like Katie to get close to Donna.

Was it good? The preview looked weird
I don’t think it’s for everyone, but I thought it was very powerful and well made.

Be careful what I say? Why? The clipping, pasted on guitar and bass parts, and lack of good lyrics make 3 of the 4 songs hard to listen to with good audio equipment
Huh? You're missing the point. I don't care what you think about the songs. Your post about not having to accept how this band operates is what I reacted to.

I disagree with you. The quality of the music is the most important part of a potential new album. And the need to constantly point out where one disagrees with someone is the point I am making here. And you have backed me in making that point by repeating your point again. Do you point out to those that like the music that it’s not relevant to the discussion or only when it suits you? Hypocrites are what they are 🤷🏻♂️
Be careful what you say. I only mean that I reacted to your bit about not having to accept how the band operates. In that argument, your opinion about their new songs is not relevant.

Fans can and will give their opinions on the quality of the music any time they feel like it. If that’s not relevant to a topic about a potential new album then there is no point in having this thread.
As they should, everyone is allowed to give their opinion, but regarding the ''complaining'' bit, your opinion on these songs, which you have given before, is really not relevant to the argument.
-
Jeez, everyone wants to hear new music, that's not the point. But it's not your band, so what else can you do but accept it or move on. Do you think constantly complaining about it is going to speed up how they operate? If so, this band would have been a totally different animal by now. But I guess it's about what has been said before, some strange coping mechanism. And whether you think the songs are decent or not, is totally subjective and not relevant at all.

I can only speak for myself, but from my own experience, just in general, I found that acceptance seems difficult. especially when you don't want to do it. easier to not accept reality and to find fault with anyone but yourself.
it extends to shit people are attached to, even if it's just entertainment. the gap between what they want it to be and what it really is makes it too frustrating for them, especially when they feel entitled cause other sources provide more of what they expect to get or function in an approach that they find more reasonable.
shitting on someone or something is also an effective coping mechanism for many, a chance to blow off some steam cause life is hard and some people don't shy away from using whatever ability to have to lighten the emotional everyday load. like playing a victim and bitch crying, or laughing about it.
I believe you can reach the point of acceptance when you see how limiting and childish it is to always use defense mechanisms that keeps you locked out from fully enjoying what you have, but again it comes with the price of letting the silly shit go by being honest with yourself and a lot of people are not really interested in that cause it's easier to never grow up.
(I don't think I've said anything you didn't already know in this post, I just find it an interesting topic to discuss and am in a blabbermouth kinda mood right now)
I agree. Acceptance can be hard for me too depending on the topic of course. In the case of GnR, I don't really know any different. This band has been slow and different from the rest since the very beginning. By the 90s I already accepted this and took them for what they are. Sometimes I wonder if I'm simply not as big of a fan as those on here who are always so frustrated and disappointed, but I don't know. I wish Axl had been more prolific as much as anyone else and that this band would handle a lot of things differently, but it's been this way for so long, and at the end of the day, I have so much more to worry about in my life than a rock n roll band, so I've accepted it a long time ago that this is how they (or should I say Axl) operates. Doesn't mean I like it, but it is what it is. I think I'm just better at accepting.
But I think you're right, for some all the bitching about something like this can simply be a coping mechanism or just a way to blow off steam from their life or whatever, but I personally think that's quite silly. But to each their own, I suppose.- 1

it's his choice cause it's not against the law to not be prolific and it's been long enough imo, for us to accept the situation for what it is: Axl is not a prolific musician and lives according to his own prefernces which include taking shit super slow. the sooner you accept it, the better and you can enjoy what we do have. At least Axl still seems open to sharing more Gn'R music with the rest of the world. it's not great, but it's better than nothing.
You're completely right, but I think some fans will never be able to accept that. I don't know why, because it would be so easy to just accept that Axl doesn't live his life or run his band the way they want it, but I guess it's simply too hard for them to come to terms with that. So in 5 years if there will still be no new album (which is a real possibility), they will still be here (if this place still exists) and be as frustrated as ever and bitch about how Axl isn't like other musicians, while they could have accepted it a long time ago like other fans and just enjoy the band for what it is. I guess people are quite different, eh?

Yes the Queen + thing was pointed out to me two weeks ago when I posted that.
I didn't read it until now and I was surprised anyone would think they are trying to replace Freddie.

For the worst i'd have to say Queen. Not saying that Adam Lambert guy doesn't have pipes, he is clearly very talented. But how do you replace Freddie? you can't, John Deacon had the right idea not being involved I think.
That's not what they're trying to do, though. Everyone knows Freddie is irreplaceable. That is why they call it ''Queen + Adam Lambert''. They are celebrating the music of Queen with two original members and a great singer who can honour the songs without imitating or pretending to be Freddie, which wouldn't be possible anyway.

I don't consider Chinese Democracy as a Gn'R album.
I never considered it a GnR record either. But I don't really care either. I judge the music and not which name happens to be on the cover and I quite like Chinese Democracy and think it contains some of Axl's best songs.

To be fair, by the time they were touring The Getaway, they already weren’t playing as many I’m With You songs. When I saw them in 2017, the only IWY song they did was Raindance Maggie, if I recall correctly.
I agree that it was cool of them to bring back Aeroplane around that time, though, and it’d be nice if John played at least one Josh song out of respect. I think John is a much better fit for the band chemistry-wise, but I do miss all of Josh’s teases of the deep cuts.
Yeah, I think most nights they only did one song off of I’m With You, but at least they mixed it up. Raindance Maggie, Look Around, Ethiopia, Factory Of Faith and Did I Let You Know all got rotated during the The Getaway tour. Shame they never did Monarchy Of Roses anymore. I love that song.
-
I don’t think many people would disagree that John isn’t the best fit. They created a musical language with him and no one can compete with that. Not even a great guitarist like Dave Navarro or an allround musician like Josh Klinghoffer. That doesn’t mean everything they do with John turns into gold and there are some people who prefer the songs they did with Josh over the last two records with John, which are not bad, but sound somewhat uninspiring.
Plus, it’s shitty they ignore I’m With You and The Getaway and are back to ignoring One Hot Minute. At least Josh got them to play Aeroplane.

I mean, who regularly listens to If the World, Catcher In the Rye, I.R.S. or even Street of Dreams & Madagascar?
I do, except for If The World.

Josh was the best singer the Chili Peppers have ever had. I love his lead and background vocals on I'm With You specifically.

(although Billy fucked over Darcy).
How so?
If anything, she fucked over Billy. Billy and the other members did everything to get her back in the band because they know how much the fans wanted to see the original four reunited. They tried to put as little pressure as possible on her, because she always had terrible stage fright and hadn’t performed live in almost twenty years, by telling her she could play as many songs as she was comfortable with and be as flexible as she wanted to be regarding doing shows. Billy tried for a long time to get her in the same room but she kept bailing and eventually leaked his text messages to the press and talked shit about them. I know many people love to hate on Billy but this wasn’t on him.
Regarding their new music, it’s not my cup of tea, but I applaud them for not constantly doing the same thing, like most 90’s bands. -
Looks boring.

I wasn't comparing the reaction to The General to the other three songs. I was reacting to the poster who said The General wasn't received well. On this forum it wasn't, that's true, but on other platforms, like for example YouTube, most reactions are positive.
