My avatar is Fernando photoshopped as a meme clown. Because he actually is a total clown.

My signature is, of course, about the ridiculous wait for both the Chinese Democracy album and it's non-existent follow-up.

The final line is about my decision to not spend any more money on this cashgrab.

    It's all pretty self-explanatory really.

    You’re obsessed.

Matthew Perry dying is a shock for me too. I honestly thought he was going to die at like 80, not 54. He''s younger than my Parents who are 60 and 61, and they aren't that much older than I am. Matthew was only 15 years older than me, yikes! 😬

It can't be that big of a shock. He had been struggling with addictions for decades, had been in and out of rehab more times than most people can count.
He was in a coma a few years ago and it's a miracle he survived that.
    Still sad, though.

I still wonder why being accepted by these alternative bands was so important for Axl and Duff. To this day, they're still so hung up on it - like they consider associating with those bands as a way to elevate their status. You don't see that type of mentality with Slash and Izzy.

Huh? Who says it was important to them or that they were looking for acceptance?
As Gilby once said, Axl always knew about the latest bands and he loved a lot of those alt bands and wanted to give them a chance to go on tour with them to give them more exposure. Duff knew some of the guys from those Seattle bands from before he had even moved to LA, so he probably just saw them as friends.

But that's probably cuz we are just a small country.

No, that’s not why. You should think beyond borders because Weert and Landgraaf are 15 minutes from both Belgium and Germany. The reason it didn’t sell out is most likely because they’ve played this region many times in the last 6 years and with concert tickets being so expensive nowadays and it being festival season, many people had to make a choice on what to go see since many can’t go to multiple shows anymore.

Wasted, Len Cnut, Diesel Daisy. And the MIA most recent OldestGoat.

I've seen dieseldaisy posting at the bad apples forum. Mostly talking shit about this forum and its posters. It seems he's still utterly obsessed with MYGNR, hahaha.

Too bad about Oldest Goat leaving, he was a good egg.

  6. I understand him not wanting to tour, it's not a lifestyle for everyone and it's clearly not for him, but I think it's a shame he did go on stage with Velvet Revolver and nu-GnR but not with the current GnR. Even if it's just for one or two songs like Steven did. It would mean a lot to many GnR fans, and it really wouldn't be that big of a deal.

yes, I know she said she's autistic and I believe her. I chose to comment on it not cause it bothers me to the extent that I have to react to it but was trying to help her so it was coming from a good place. I don't want to put her on ignore, but maybe it's not my place to say anything, as I don't think she listens anyway which is fine, I guess.

I know you meant it in a good way. I wasn't referring to you, but there are always a few posters here who seem to get triggered by her posts and keep on reacting, and I guess I don't see the point.

but you keep doing it anyway, in general, no? and I'm not talking about that specific incident, I'm talking about your need to tell everyone online how other people are treating you. Maybe you should try to find ways to feel good about yourself without it having anything to do with what people are saying about you and stop broadcasting every single thought that comes to your head. It's tedious and I'm guessing why a lot of people don't find interacting with you enjoyable, though you seem to be a good person and I have nothing against your online presence.

From what she says, she is autistic. Why people keep reacting to her in a joking or negative manner is something I don't understand.
From what I can tell, she's not offending anyone, so if someone is really that bothered by an autistic person expressing their thoughts on a forum, put her on ignore already. It's not rocket science, ya know...

Okay. Again, that's not the point. People wanting a new song and not getting it is not really the disappointing aspect for them. The disappointing aspect comes from knowing deep down that this band is a constant disappointment in general.

If they were a normal, functioning band, not releasing a song here and there wouldn't make a chunk of their fanbase roll their eyes so hard. It would just be a normal plan change. A plan change for GNR is such a colossal comedy of errors and poor planning that many fans get annoyed over the very nature of releasing music in the first place. I don't think anyone on here can tell me (with a straight face, at least) that this band doesn't make things harder on themselves. There are so many opportunities for this band to provide small wins here and there, and they just never take them. Even Absurd and HS were swings and misses because of such awful execution, and those were songs they actually released. People may like those tracks, but it goes back to the band being a disappointment in this regard for a long time.

You keep bringing up intelligence. The fans that are disappointed don't care about August 11th and aren't furious with them about it. They're annoyed that even though there is writing on the wall, the band can't actually get something together, which has been their modus operandi for, how long now? Too many years.

Isn’t it obvious that this band doesn’t operate like most other bands? Why keep getting your hopes up and getting disappointed? Unless you’re a new fan, it’s awfully naive to constantly let that happen. I don’t get that.
And I disagree. Some fans do create their own time frame and then when something doesn’t happen, they get mad, but the reality of the situation is that they never announced it in the first place, so it’s absurd getting mad, especially with the knowledge of how this band, unfortunately, operates. And this is not me defending GnR, this is me being rational about it.

Axl's not going to give you a hug for defending him so vigorously.

People aren't pissed about August 11th. That date has no meaning. It's the overall functioning of the band itself. This isn't anything new. It wasn't new today, it wasn't new last week, it wasn't even new when the reunion started a million years ago. People aren't actually expecting new music, because this is Guns N' Roses. We've all read this book before. However, many fans clearly have a desire to hear what's next. That is human nature. To be curious. The reason they get a little irked about it is because they'd like to hear something new in their lifetime. It reaches the point of ridiculousness. People aren't just pulling these things out of the air.

The band doesn't owe anyone anything, but when they have members saying that news will be coming within the week, they're soundchecking new songs, we get potential release dates for new releases, etc., it's going to naturally stir some curiosity. And what do we receive for that curiosity? Overpriced AFD reissues/merch and more BS. The funny thing is, they'll just laugh at people like you who seem to defend their every move because they can get away with shitting out this ridiculous merchandise, since they know it's being purchased. Just like their live shows. They know people will just go, and even if they don't, who cares? They have their money at this point.

Honestly, defending such a husk of a band is laughable to me. You can insult the intelligence of the fans all you want, but believe me, the band isn't laughing at the ones who are annoyed. They're laughing at the ones who lap up everything they do because they can get away with it. I'd much rather be on the side of people wishing for something more than on the other side, stapling a smile on my face for Uncle Axl.

Oh yeah, that's what I was doing, defending Axl (a man I don't even know) ''vigorously'', to get a hug, hahaha.
p.s. I don't defend the band at all, I don't care enough nor do I have reason to, but as many before me pointed out, in this case the band never announced a date for the release of a song, so people getting disappointed is all on them. I didn't get disappointed because I know better. So yes, it is not exactly smart to expect something that's not announced and then to get mad, especially in the case of band like GnR. And this is not the first time you see that around here.

As someone that came in late on this one, it's kinda hard to be disappointed by something that was never announced.

Isn't that how it always goes? People set time frames for something to happen based on rumours, soundchecks or whatever, not the band, and then when it doesn't happen within their own created time frame, they get mad at the band (particularly Axl) instead of themselves. The overall intelligence level isn't very high here.

Ronin, IIRC, Nirvana was only relevant for like two years, and then quickly fell off the map. Kurt Cobain's suicide was a big factor in that IMHO. Guns N'Roses has had staying power for 35/36 years.

After Kurt's death Nirvana became even more popular. That's what happens to most artists when they die young. Tupac, Biggie, Jim Morrison, Hendrix, Joplin, you can't say that they became irrelevant or weren't popular anymore after their death, quite the opposite.

It would baffle me if he was insecure about releasing a new “old” song but wasn’t insecure about how is voice sounds nowadays.

It's not for you to decide what someone else can or cannot be insecure about. Maybe having thousands of people cheering you on every show helps. Because not everyone is as obsessed with his voice as people on here.

To be honest, I think Axl is content with just touring

Well obviously. He spent years working on CD and it meant the world to him, and then it was received with lukewarm to negative reactions from the majority, just like with Absurd and Hard Skool. I bet he is an insecure person like a lot of artists are. So there is no reason for him to be in a rush or put a new album out at all. It sucks, but it is what it is. As soon as people accept that, the sooner they stop moaning about it.

At some point axl said "I heard that". Does anybody know what he was referring to? Some inquiries from the crowd maybe?

Yeah, I was standing there, someone in the audience screamed ''stop eating tacos and take some singing lessons, you fucker''. Good response from Axl, the old Axl would have stormed off or something.

Europe is like 17 countries lol. Of course every single country has it's own culture, when Americans say "European" it's very irritating to me because this is like over 10 countries that are completely different, but of course that's hard to grasp when you've never left the bubble that is the US.

    17? Try 45 countries : /

Promotion lacks a bit for this concert, and they were here last year at my home town. I gues its only hardcore fans tonight :headbang:

Months prior to this show I've seen and heard quite a few commercials on TV and radio promoting this show, so I don't think this is true.

I am, yeah. That said, I’m still not really sure I believe any of this stuff. Life at roughly our intelligence level or lower existing in other solar systems and/or other galaxies? Sure. But life advanced enough to come all the way here without us knowing and crash multiple times (mostly in America)? That I’m not so sure.

I have no idea. I'm sure a lot of it is not true. But I do think that if there are intelligent species out there (and I think there's a good chance) who are more advanced than us in technology and thousands of years ahead of us, I don't see why they couldn't travel through space in a way that is impossible for us to understand right now, especially when you look at what we have already achieved right now while we have only just begun exploring it.
