Hopefully Slash goes back to his UYI tone
Yes, please! His jet-engine guitar sound during the UYI tour was... damn, can't express how powerful that was.
Dunno why but I find it the closest thing to the UYI tone in years now. Maybe because he's playing on somebody else's gear?
-
You know what? Steven Adlers CD Back from the Dead is way better than Chinese Democracy, or any of Duffs stuff or any of Slash's solo records and also better than VR.
I disagree. It is very good, his drumming is out of this planet there. But still, it's not even close to Contraband... or World On Fire for that matter, which is the heaviest and most thoughtful record Slash wrote after the GNR departure. Back From the Dead is like 6/10 for most of time BUT "Good to Be Bad" and "Just Don't Ask" are fucking brilliant. This is how great this record could be if the rhythm section in this band was better than just average.

Derrig LP at the doctor, Andy Brauer M.D.

Exactly. And I don't know what made you all think that he brought the orginal '88 to the rehearsal
-
Also hoping for this. That tone was the holy grail, totally orgasmic. I'm hoping it's the case since he snapped a photo of his '88 Les Paul, my has that thing aged over the years. I don't think he's toured with that since the 90s.
He's playing Slither almost every single night on it.

Frank has better feel and drum sound than Matt on UYI tour
That's so bullsiht.

Bucket, Robin and Brain were as big as it gets, hard to step up that.
I guess it's more of an emotional thing now.
It's also about musical chemistry and Axl, Slash, and Duff had perfect chemistry. I think they still have that. That changes shit. Everything sounds great. With Izzy and Steven too though, it would have sounded 10 times better. Like you can hear it on Ghost with Slash and Izzy or Steven in the RNR HOF performance.
Not to mention Kings of Chaos gigs with Slash, Duff, Matt and Gilby. It was incredible. Or VR's performance of It's so Easy with Izzy back in the day.

There's Slash and Duff onboard so your question is pretty much rhetorical.
-
They will probably be too afraid to hurt his feelings and get Axl upset...
Who exactly?
-
Good doesn't equals "great". He's trying to be polite, that's it. He did say that Axl's vocals was great though.
But OK, you can believe he likes the album he would never record
-
Still, no such words. [...]it's a great statement by Axl. He just appreciates Axl's work, his vocals. That Axl made that album how he wanted. But he never said it's a great record.
-
He said it was the perfect record for him [Axl] and his voice was great, he never said he thinks it's great
-
It's not the AFD guitar.
-
Brent is also using Vater drumsticks
-
Yeah, he recorded AFD on Derrig's LP Copy, and he still owns it
-
"GNR YEARS" Les Paul doesn't mean anything, because he's using it all the time. But if we're talking about this picture, Duff were there to rehearse before his rejoining to GNR in 2014.
-
For the guitar geeks: Is that the guitar he used for the uyi tour?
Pretty sure thats the "Appetite" guitar, no?
He no longer has the guitar he recorded appetite with :/Bobbo, it's one of his regular guitars, probably a LP VOS Custom.
IncitingChaos, you're wrong. He has the very same guitar and he recorded majority of his solo stuff on it. https://youtu.be/D5099zkMZL0?t=13m9s

Just bring GNR to the Woodstock Festival in Poland which is free entry and you'll get around 1 milion people watching them live 500k is a regular number of people watching the headlining shows every year.

Dirty Little Thing is in E flat. Headspace is in drop D.

at least he will stop butchering the GNR songs
You started this thread just to say that didn't you. I'll tell you what, there's a guy who looks like a butcher. But he's a redhead.

It is not a GNR REUNION. It is an Axl-Slash-Duff reunion.
This. Axl-Slash reunion.
The biggest thing that happened to music industry in years.
GN'R reuniting! What's your thoughts Marc?

It's been 4-5 days when the announcement of GNR at Coachella came out and still we have no single comment about the case from Matt, Steven or Izzy. I guess all kind of journalists are trying to reach them every second but, obviously, they don't want to answer. Here's my question, what do you think about it? Why the "missing three" plead the fifth for so long?
