I don't get it...no offense, but GnR put out arguably the greatest rock and roll record of all time and people would rather them waste time on tunes from a crappy record. Makes no sense to me at all.

Something tells me more people would have loved CD if it had some classic members play on it. Most don't like the album because 'it isn't Guns N' Roses'. Hell, if we get another GN'R album with some CD-era material, people will eat it up because it will have Slash and Duff on it.

Does anyone else think that it's more possible that this regrouping actually means new music since Izzy isn't permanently part of it. Maybe they know Izzy isn't in it for the long haul, so Richard is being added to a more official long term version of the band. I still see Izzy jumping in on songs at Vegas and Coachella, but maybe his lack of permanent involvement means definite new material (as definite as one can get with Axl).

I think new music will materialize with or without Izzy. Having a hybrid classic/CD lineup just makes the prospect of that happening, a lot easier. They could rework CD material and create new stuff.

I don't see how Izzy's involvement would be a detriment to GN'R, especially in the recording studio. The only area i think problems would arise is in the touring. To that extent, i can understand having Richard for the tour, but there shouldn't be any reason to exclude Izzy from recording new material with the band.

  3. Much respect to Izzy for reaching out to the media and the GN'R community to clarify his position on the band. It's unfortunate news, but at least he has shined a light on something the GN'R camp weren't willing to talk about. This is better than being blindly led to expect something which would never be clarified by the management of GN'R. Thanks, Izzy!

Brent would be the best choice. But would Slash want to mix his bands like that?

I don't think anyone bothered to listen to the audio, I went back to hear this. Wow, it'd be crazy if things have already soured like that.

Listening on, they also said Axl hasn't been going to the gym.

    And packing the carbs apparently...

I'm sure Axl has his own personal trainers and stuff anyway.

Maybe what this means is he wont have any saying in the planning and decision making, but can still show up just to play?

Nah, he makes it pretty clear that there are no plans currently involving him in any of the April GN'R shows.

The only thing i am unclear about is whether the material he says he's written is for GN'R. He says he's written material, but not with the other GN'R members. That still leaves the possibility of him writing stuff and handing it over to be worked on by the others, without deeper collaboration or further involvement. I can only assume he is referring to writing material for Guns N' Roses given the subject matter of his tweets.

I couldnt' even guess when the last time was I listened to CD. It doesn't even register as a GnR album to me. As an album it's unlistenable.

 people still clinging to this idea that if you listen to CD enough times you'll eventually really like it. 8 years after the fact people still claim that some GnR fans just have't given it a  fair chance. Hilarious.

The guy said he hadn't listened to it since 2008. That's a fair while, and i assume he hasn't given a very good listen to the album. I never said listening to it will make him really like it. I just said it might grow on him like it has on myself and others.

It's not really a big deal anyway, lol.

Chinese Democracy is not a GNR album, and it absolutely sucks. Haven't listen to any of the songs since 2008.

If GNR ever get back in the studio and record another album, it would put an end to the awful nightmare that Axl put the GNR name for 20 yrs.

It wouldn't hurt to give CD another try, regardless of your personal opinions on the album or former lineup. Many people find that the album grows on them.

    superbowl surprise?

I doubt it. Most of the performing artists have already been announced, and Axl once ripped the Peppers for not playing their instruments live at the superbowl. There's no way GN'R will half-arse it, so i don't see them going up there, setting their shit up and actually playing a live song or two before leaving.

    To all of you,

Positive things are going underway. "Talks" have been going on for several months now.

Eddie Trunk is reliable. Trust him. He has lots of contacts. Insiders know that.

    Some "news" for you :

    1) There STILL exist differences between Axl & Slash. But things are goin' on the right way.

    2) A Reunion is neither impossible nor for tomorrow. But things are going on the right way.

    3) It's still too soon to jump on any conclusions.

    4) Dizzy reed to be part of it

    5) Richard Fortus to be part of it, Axl likes him very much and Slash DID ask Fortus to join his band a couple of years ago.

    6) Huge amount of money on the table

    Stay tuned.

Most of that list is general enough that any of us could have guessed the same. The only specific aspects were Reed and Fortus, and both were logical guesses anyway, considering the fact that Reed has been involved for decades and Izzy doesn't like major tours.

Im amazed some really have CD songs in their top 5.

I don't see why it's a problem. CD is a mixed bag, but it definitely has some great songs on it.

I included Madagascar on my list, but i tried to choose at least one song from their major albums.

  11. I once read that they done a cover of 'Take a Long Line' by The Angels. I would kill to hear the band's take on that song back in their heyday. I'm not sure how reliable the source was, but Axl and Doc were mates, and GNR was influenced by The Angels. So it's not exactly a long shot. We've got footage of 'Marseilles' being covered no less than three times though, so at least that's something.

'Take a Long Line', as performed live by The Angels in 1983:

  12. Axl is three years older than Slash. These are their most recent public photos.

They look okay. Check out Izzy though!

Seriously... for what is meant to be the biggest news in the music world, a lot of media outlets are fucking up. The above picture comes from The Mirror, which shows that Izzy Stradlin is somehow able to shapeshift! Who knew there was always something up with Matt Sor...er...Izzy Stradlin.

I saw another article a couple of weeks ago which said Axl Rose was the bass guitarist...

These are obviously slip-ups, but Jesus Christ these guys should find another job. Fact checking and news reporting clearly aren't their best suits.
