Hahaha.... I don't think so. Steve Lukather taught him a lot of shit back in the mid 2000's... And I think they talk still about guitar etc and getting better. He did some sweeps and stuff at the Stoke on Trent show guitar solo. Not real sweeps but like a small sweep on the bottom 3 strings. But any newish techniques are self taught and probably Lukather.

Well Slash himself said that Myles was technically a better guitarist than himself and he teached him some licks on the tour. I would't be surprised if Fortus showed him some techniques at the rehearsals.

  2. They have a shitload of songs to choose from. Let them work on those first, release CD II and/or some other stuff, and only then start writing something new. They will hopefully have a few tours under their belt by then and their chemistry as a band will improve.

That said, I would love to hear an Axl acoustic/blues/jazzy kind of album, sang with his velvety lower register

  3. Anybody else is digging the visuals that they did for this tour? During previous nuGuns tours there were always some cheesy-ass graphics and random girl videos, but I really like the production on this one. The highlight for me is definitely WTTJ with the flashing tv screens and AFD skulls, the giant red hands during Chinese and the pulse in Coma is a nice touch too!

    Little off Topic:

I am listening to "hartford 1992" bootleg.

At the end of dead horse I can hear the first notes of coma played by someone But axl suddenly says "don't even think about it!" and other things that I can't hear...

    Is it possible??

Just watched it. Duff started playing something on his bass (maybe Coma? I'm not sure) and Axl stopped him with "don't even think about it!" and "you can sing it". They did improv their playlists back then, so it's quite possible they wanted to bust out Coma, but Axl didn't feel like it.

I absolutely love the fact that they're playing Chinese Democracy -songs (the title track and Better great songs IMO). It's so cool to see/hear Slash and Duff playing those tracks. I like this hybrid line-up (Fortus FTW). It gives me hope that this isn't only about nostalgia. That there is new music coming some day.

Great time to be a Gn'R-fan!

This. The fact that they reworked Better completely with a new intro gives me hope that CD II will finally see the light of the day.

Chinese Democracy (the song) haven't sounded this good from 2001 (or ever!), Slash completely owns that riff. Better and TIL are cool too, but I'm not so keen on the new solos yet. Robin did an outstanding job with them and the album versions are better IMO. More melodic and memorable.

But overall I'm thrilled that they are playing CD material. Realistically I was expecting two songs max, but we already got four in just two concerts (including TWAT)!

    2. Chinese

    3. Illusion I

    4. Illusion II

    5. Lies

    6. Spaghetti

UYIs have lots of bloat, although some of my all time favourite songs are on those two. AFD and CD are just more consistent. Lies would probably be higher if it wasn't for the first four songs.

If Melissa has already worked on newest stuff, that would be a logical decision.

The CD line up is over. Frank and Richard has nothing to do with chinese, just some inputs here and there, but likely be proeminent on the next one. They is no chi dem people in the band now. They can change the songs all they want, the intro of better is an example.

Damn, need to hear that new Better soon...

This is a thread called 'Welcome Melissa Reese to GN'R', right? So I guess we are supposed to talk about this Melissa girl joining the band.

There's a 200+ pages thread about the Troubadour show with plenty of discussion on Axl+Slash+Duff interactions.

That thread is clogged up with Frankfurt hate and endless drummer discussions.

And I don't see how constant "is she out yet" bitching is a discussion...
