I like everything except for TSI and KOHD. Yes, I even like Sympathy. *goes into hiding*

I think this line-up is going to be around for a while. Axl has stated this is a lineup him and management want to maintain. I bet touring will last until mid-2017, following with an announcement of a new album that will be released in that holiday season. From there, who knows, but I think until the GN'R name is retired this will be the current line-up.

This song should never be released because it's mainly done by Chris Shitman.

I'd want to hear a mixture of CD II w/Slash and Duff, scrapped VR material with Axl vocals, 1993-1996 scrapped work, and new material entirely. They have tons of this material, if they really worked on everything we could have a double album or a single album with 14-16 songs.

Just a note....music videos and promotion have no bearing on the album being good, bad or "the best". Those things are for popularity, not substance.
Yeah, you are right, my bad. I should have worded it as "one of the most successful albums."

If this thread has been made before, I apologize.
But holy shit, I am blown away by how Axl has changed. I was re-watching some NuGNR shows, because I thought it was weird that that time period even existed of GNR. Compared to Axl now, the Axl of those years was really a dochuebag and seemed very tense. Not only that, his vocals were at times very weak, it looked like he had stopped trying in his later years, put on a lot of weight, covered himself up with jackets and sunglasses and those hats, was very openly a verbal jerk to his ex-bandmates and other bands, seemed to hate fans, did little interviews, did nothing but strictly GN'R and seemed quite honestly, miserable.
Come 2016, I've never seen this man so happy and in love with life. You can tell he has passion again. You can tell he's having a blast this tour and playing songs. He's been very happy with fans. Has done interviews. He even tweets more. Axl looks amazing for his age, yes he's still a little chunky around the stomach but he is very muscular and for his age he looks fantastic. Most importantly he stopped hiding behinds hats and leather jackets. Even if his voice is off on some songs, he is giving 110% every show and sounds fantastic on a majority of them, reminding us all of the Axl Rose of the 90's. He even broke out of his comfort zone and toured with ACDC! Hell, he even let Steven Adler play with GN'R. He looks and sounds happy and I've never been more happy for the guy.
So what do you guys think the reason for this is? Has Axl gotten his fire back because Slash and Duff are back in his life? Has he found internal peace? I think it's because Duff has helped Axl to fight his internal demons with how he learned to deal with them. We can sit here and drool over Slash and Axl all day, but Duff is really in my opinion to thank for Axl's transformation and happiness, and of course, the reunion. He is the underspoken hero of this whole deal.

It'd be realistically very easy to make a new album, the material is already mostly there.
3-4 songs of CDII material with Slash/Duff adding their own tracks
3-4 songs of scrapped Velvet Revolver material with Axl simply recording pre-written or newly written vocals
3-4 songs of 1993-1996 scrapped work
3-4 completely new songs
Title it "Not in This Lifetime" or "Stay of Execution", throw in some music videos and great promotion and you could have easily one of the best albums of the decade.

I know it'll never happen, but Breakdown. I think Axl could pull it off now with his current voice, as it fits his impressive screams and killer deep tone.

Fans can be experts, it just makes us in the minority of the fanbase.

I'd argue the same thing, but with There Was a Time. That song is a masterpiece in my opinion.

One of my favorite GN'R songs, it's my favorite depending on what day you ask me. The lyrics are some of Gun's best in my opinion and as a history nut it appeals to me.

I don't know what Axl's deal is.We will probably never know, but Axl is intentionally not singing to his full potential with GNR. I am bummed by this because I always felt that Slash would be the person to motivate him to sing 100%. Unfortunately it wasn't , and Axl still doesn't give a fuck. Some of these GNR songs are easy to sing with rasp and he is not doing it. These shows would be 10/10 if he sounded the way he does with ACDC. I had hopes that things were going to be different after listening to the ACDC.
I disagree, I think that GN'R songs have a much different vocal range than most ACDC songs. Songs like TIL and Coma are much different from BIB and HTH. Axl has lost his middle range, and can only hit the highs and lows. There is no middle voice which is why we get mickey mouse on Sweet Child and Rocket Queen, the voice he used on appetite 30 years ago simply does not exist anymore in him.

Haven't watched the whole show, but I watched a periscope stream around when Out Ta Get Me played.

Axl's vocals were AMAZING, I was left in shock. I was shaking after. I don't know how he did on the other songs (I heard he sucked on Coma) but OTGM was brilliant. Amazing. That is single-handedly one of my favorite live performances of any GNR song in the past two decades ever. Really glad to see Axl and the current band kick ass. We're in a great era right now! Axl has his fire back.

I disagree. 2014 was one of the best GNR years. The whole period reminds me of Rocky Balboa in Rocky IV.
Really? One of the best years? It was the 4th year of cash grab touring. Axl sounded decent at best and it was cool to see Duff back for a little but overall it was a disappointing year. Another Vegas residency and no new music all pointed towards signs of cash grabs. Watch the Golden Gods GN'R concert and the early South American shows and you really won't be too impressed.

NuGNR could have been awesome. Both the 01' and '06 line-ups were very solid and in my opinion, one of the best line ups of all time. You have Axl, legendary vocalist and frontman, with straight up badass guitar players: Fortus, Finck, Bumblefoot, Buckethead. Kickass bass player. Brain was a beast on drums. Veteran Dizzy Reed. (Shitman didn't really add anything). I believe that NuGNR could have ruled the world if Chinese released somewhere between '99-'02. Even in 2006, when the momentum was back if they released the album it would have been legendary. However, 2 years of no-touring and a late ass release f*cked CD in the butt, plain and simple. I'm surprised it had the success it did.
However, the real failure of NuGNR in my opinion, is when the 2009-2014 happened. 2009-2010 was dealable, minus Ashba and Axl gaining some weight. But still a decent lineup. This tour is fair, as it was to promote Chinese Democracy. The fans expected another album in a few years, followed by a new tour, and finally it seemed as if NuGNR gained some momentum.
However, then 2011-2014 happened and just completely ruined any chance of CDII or hope of success for the band. Axl clearly stopped giving a shit, dancing on stage with a yellow banana raincoat overweight and nearly have a stroke and ruining songs like November Rain and Patience. Plus, only 3-4 songs from CD were played, meaning almost Axl was done with that album. These dark years of non-stop useless touring killed NuGNR and made it into a joke. Don't even get me started on Bridge School. "We've got everything you want…I said…..(uh)….you, *chokes*" Stupid Axl.
They promised new music during these years like they did with CD, and at this point everyone knew it would never come out and no one gave a shit.
Thankfully GN'R is in a good place now. But good l o r d.

Bet now it must be a hard decision looking back considering how much money reunited GN'R is making

As late as December, before the video was released by Chris Shitman, I thought that this year would be a bad year for GN'R. I thought since DJ and Bumble were gone, Axl was going to stop trying, never release CDII, bury the GN'R name and I doubted a reunion.
Here we are now, with arguably the best period of GN'R since 91-92. Axl is happier than ever. He's fronting two of the biggest bands. Him and slash have rekindled their friendship. There's a strong possibility we'll have new music and he sounds greater than he has for years. Let us remember this era for years and years to come as GN'R- no, GNFNR fans.

Can't see the ACDC fans being too happy with Axl sitting in a chair for the first show. :/

Fucker has been singing Sweet Child of Mine sounding like Minnie Mouse but can pull off that?
In all seriousness Axl is kicking ass right now, I love it. This has been his best year since probably 2001 or even 1992. This will put him in good shape for the NITL tour. When I see him live in August his voice will surely be ripe

There are certain people who prefer to play word semantics in a desperate attempt to defend this mishmash lineup - when, in reality, we all know 99.9% of fans want to see all of the original members onstage together again
Extreme exaggeration and overgrouping. Some fans may like the illusion line up, the NuGuns, and the current lineup. Very false that 99.9% of fans would only want the original 5.

The thing is, we can tell he's trying 100% now. He still has his Mickey moments but I consider that more of an aging issue, as he seems as if he is legitimately trying and putting power into even his clean voice. He's been fantastic on songs he was rarely raspy on 11-14, like Nightrain, Paradise City, LALD, and My Michelle (which his live performances of recently sound straight off of appetite)
However, he's still pretty meh on Estranged, YCBM, and SCOM. But who knows, maybe as the tour goes on that will improve. It's nice to see Axl really pushing for this and adding different songs to the setlist like Coma, Don't Cry, TWAT, Yesterdays, DTJ...nice to see our hero kicking it once again at his age
