Thank you both! I had linked to an Apple News story but it guess it didn’t work the way I had meant.

Not particularly, GN’R at least has the excuse of working with recordings from the 90’s and 2000’s haha. Andrew Watt is atrocious at making records… i can’t stand any of the records he makes. I guess i’ll give the Stones a bit of grace that the actually writing isn’t horrible, the recordings are though.

Andrew Watt has produced fantastic albums by Eddie Vedder, Iggy Pop, Ozzy and the Stones in just the last few years. And all of them sound great on my record player 🤷🏻‍♂️

Civil War is the “R” side of You Could Be Mine single, was released before Use Your Illusions.

Guns N Roses is not like other bands, b sides aren’t less important than the main song.

It’s So Easy with Mr. Brownstone single was also released before Appettite. People in this forum love making up their own ridiculous facts.

That was I and yes, they implied the video was done for The General (live backing video) and was ready to go. I assume it'll be played at the show after the 27th and not before. The days of Axl playing songs before they were released are long gone. 17 years since he last did that.

I generally agree with you (see what I did there), but I am pretty sure they planned to play Hard School at the Hollywood Palladium in 2019. It was rehearsed by the band that day, I heard it myself. Unfortunately, this was one of the few shows not promoted by Live Nation so Axl felt ok to show up a couple of hours late and the show itself was shorter than normal. Obviously I don’t know if it was 100% planned to be played that night.

I can’t believe a chunk of people really think an album is looming for November. I mean of course it would be great, however unlikely, but you’d really think more of us would be dubious after all we’ve been through on the new music front.

As a long time fan, I completely agree with your sentiment here.

However, something is definitely off if they’re not even offering the Perhaps / General single on CD. CD lead times are almost nothing compared to vinyl. Mick Jagger said the Stones upcoming record was done in March but couldn’t be released until this month due to the vinyl. Considering Atlas was on their Instagram story and they’re not currently planning to tour next year, I do have some hope that another EP may be coming. I was surprised that the NITL version of Better wasn’t one of the live songs on the Hardschool EP. Maybe it’s being saved for an upcoming EP?

I know, I know. Wishful thinking!

  6. Really nice thread here @ZoSoRose!

As an older Guns fan, I did enjoy following the whole CD saga and bought my copy on the day of release en route to Monterrey with my wife and young kids. I played the disc back to back three times before I got the look that told me it was time for something different

As much as I do really like a lot of CD, the entire era is still not considered to be GnR for me. The only time I saw NuGuns live was at the Bridge School and you all know how that went.

Yeah, now that i think about this, The General might actually be untouched by Slash considering it is just a B-Side to a single, meaning it could be the original NuGNR version.
If that is so, and it actually is Vinyl only, it might make a little bit of sense because "technically" the song isn't a new release by the band, so the best place to put it out there is on an exclusive product that casuals probably won't be buying.

It being on that leaked setlist on the other hand might mean it is reworked if Slash & Duff are to play it live, but who knows.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see both Slash and Duff have co-writing credits on The General. There is no chance Guns releases anything without them both on it unless they leave again which I don’t see happening anytime soon.
