Got my Perhaps/General 7" today, Perhaps sounds fine but I can't believe they released the General with the clipping bass drum...
I looked through my other 7" records, I've got a Fall To Pieces/Slither promo and a Loaded split single. Anyone remember this song?
Yea, I have that 7” as well. The song is decent enough to have been an album track.
you all are making me want to make a list of all my Guns vinyl!

I was absolutely blown away by the variety of songs and how almost every one of them was anywhere from good to instant classics. My only complaint then and now is the overdubs by Axl were too much. Especially on Breakdown and the lion roaring in Garden of Eden.
Of course, hearing My World for the first time was…an experience?

If this is true then why aren't more gnr fans listening to Izzy's solo material? I think his music without the others is a bit forgettable, not bad but they sound like demos
His material as the foundation, but Duff, Slash and Axl all worked on it to make it what it became.
I completely agree with your last statement. Patience and You Could Be Mine are prime examples of Izzy songs that were elevated to all time classics with the input of the rest of the band.
I think the lack of sales for Izzy after the first album has to do with a couple of factors; Izzy’s voice is not Axl’s and Rick Richards is good but not Slash level with his solos & Izzy barely promoted anything after Ju Ju Hounds. Both River and Ride On are full of songs that could have made for amazing Guns songs had they been developed by Axl, Slash and Duff.

Also, I highly doubt they will call it CD 2 or anything like that. I think there is a significant chance it is titled "Guns N Roses" which was a rumor awhile ago.
Where did that Legend Of The Red Panda rumor come from? Also, Stay Of Execution was a rumored title I think due to a trademark filing that @Blackstar detailed at one point.

Is the mastering on the Perhaps CD the same as the digital releases or did they change one/both to get an even sounding mastering?
I can let you know on Thursday when mine is expected to be delivered unless anyone else has an update

All good! The lyrics in Japanese special releases of English speaking bands is a continuing thing, not just from 1988. They’re typically produced without much input from the artists.

Again if pointing out basic problems is considered 'bitching' what's the point in even engaging in discussion here? I'm realizing none.
Live From The Jungle was released in 1988, that's a long time ago. Expecting lyrics to be written correctly is not an unreasonable expectation. But perhaps I shouldn't be surprised when the thing i paid for was already advertised as 'Perphaps' and then delayed, and then when I did get it the cover looked like it had been designed in minecraft & while Perhaps sounds great (to me) the B-Side has clipping all over it, which people believe is something that has been imagined in the minds of people so they have something to complain about. As if people need to invent things to complain about here, jesus h christ.
I'm glad there are people who don't hear it, envious even, but the idea people are inventing this stuff just to complain is idiotic at best. If you got your stuff delivered to you with a great looking hi res cover and you enjoy the song and mix more power to you. Nobody is trying to deny your experience but others may not have the same.

Definitely make sure you have the European release of Chinese. The sound makes the US version feel almost criminal.

Bummer to hear that Japan cd has unofficial lyrics... so bush league
That’s actually common for Japanese releases. Live From The Jungle EP was the exact same so I’m not sure why people feel the need to bitch about it but I guess it’s Guns were talking about so that’s par for the course.
No offense to you @Coma16!- 1

If it was my band:
Release atlas, monsters, state of grace and any finished reworked chinese song all at once including previous 4 singles. Make it one chinese album. All that in like june. No need to be on tour.
In the meantime write an e.p or l.p of completely new stuff from this band and release it juste before next tour.
Be active guys. You're past 60's 😅 the end is near!
Exactly this, plus I’d add a live album and video from say 2016 with some added live spots of the new singles and covers as well as the official Perhaps video.
And after hearing Monsters, I have a tiny bit of hope that maybe seven or another unheard CD leftover could be just as good! And I’d love to be surprised and hear that Oklahoma / Berlin has vocals.- 1

Other than Hard Skool being a B Side, I completely agree. Hard Skool definitely had single and air time potential. Hard Skool, Perhaps & Monsters would be been a great selection of singles for an 8 track EP of CD leftovers. I haven't listened to Atlas enough to make an opinion on that.
As much as I like the Reunion versions, I can't help but wish for final versions with Bucket, Brain & Robin.
Atlas, State of Grace and whatever else had finished vocals (Berlin/Oklahoma, Seven?) could make for a decent album that they could theoretically have already put out with Slash and Duff added in.
I also wouldn’t mind hearing the pre NITL versions if they leak. Some of CD was really good, if not exactly GnR to me. CD, CITR and The Blues from the Village Leaks are pretty cool, and I like Shackler’s, Madagascar, TWAT and Prostitute from the official release.

The more I listen to it, the more I like it...BUT, the overly distorted lyrics make it hard to hear the powerful, emotionally resonante lyrics. An unforced error. And a killer Slash guitar solo mid song could have taken this to another level. I repeat myself, but my own update. It is growing on me and kinda stuck in my head. Also, different speakers offer a noticeably different listening experience.
On another note: Anyone have OFFICIAL lyrics to this song? "My only regret is that I never took the time to forget/forgive?!?!"
1 minute ago, Nick85 said:Yeah, I’m still unclear about a lot of the lyrics. Wish a lyric video accompanied it.
The lyrics from Apple Music are on page 192 or so in this thread or just Google the Apple lyrics. I think they’re as official as we’re getting any time soon.

There is the Christmas EP from a few years ago, but apparently Axl wasn't keen on a releasing it because the label wanted it out for the Christmas season but he felt it should get an October release.
What is this about?

I find it sad that the same couple of posters feel the need to moderate peoples opinions here, all day every day.
And calling anyone that misses the magic that was Guns N Roses a mullet head is just childish.
In my opinion, The General feels like an unfinished idea of a potentially great song. The laziness of repeating the same verses is excused by some as an artistic choice but I see it as another reason why this song wasn’t on CD. It’s just not that good. Thankfully we also got the far superior Monsters, I absolutely love that song!

I might order the Japanese CD if they don't do a US one. GN'R can't do anything right these days!
I wonder if the Japanese one will have Monsters. If so, I'll order 4 of those SOBs.
I heard the Japanese CDs have the original and mixes!!!

IMO, The General is an ok song that feels like it was never finished lyrically. To be fair, the fact it was leaked along with a far superior song probably doesn’t help my view of it. I just don’t get how Axl couldn’t come up with a second verse rather than repeating himself. This seems to be a running theme of many the songs left off CD that we’ve now heard between the new singles and the Village Leaks.
The outro is pretty damn good though. It makes me hopeful that if they ever do work on a new album like Slash has suggested, there is still the potential for some magic.

60 or so songs recorded, 14 of which have been released so far. And another album probably coming next year like you said so probably 25 or so songs released. Add in all the session work he’s been doing and you have to admire Duff’s work ethic. If only it would rub off on Axl

It says so on the Japanese online store:
This CD single release is available in Japan only, coupling the remarkable "Perhaps" with another new song "The General." Comes with lyrics and a description.

Yes, I meant I doubt the vinyl would come with a lyric sheet. Thanks for sharing this! You always have great examples and or facts at the ready 👍🏻

Although it would be nice, I highly doubt it. Japanese releases typically have the lyrics in both English and Japanese.
