  1. You're right, it's all Slash. Only in the live version Slash and Fortus play alternating solos.
  2. Why do you feel it's unlikely that it's Slash? I wouldn't call myself an expert but I have a fairly good understanding of how Slash plays from analyzing his guitar parts to learn them and the TG outro has a lot of signature Slash licks. The shred part is something he does a lot when improvising live and also sounds quite similar to his solo in Straight to Hell by Ozzy Osbourne. And the speed isn't outside Slash's comfort zone either. It definitely isn't Buckethead. Bucket is a lot cleaner while shredding and he plays some variation of a very recognizable Paul Gilbert-esque legato sequence almost always. I don't think it's Bumblefoot either, he has a very different playing style and tone than what we hear on the song.
  3. This. I'm quite surprised there are so many people here that are unable to identify Slash's trademark guitar playing and tone that's all over this track and are attributing it to NuGuns guitarists that have styles quite different from Slash's. Save for the end bit of Monsters which is definitely played by Fortus, there's no NuGuns guitarist playing any lead lines on this. And in case they decided to leave some licks in, it is probably hidden under a thousand layers and not easily discernable.
  4. The last solo is 100% Slash. It's got the classic Slash-style legato runs and vibrato. Buckethead's legato runs have a distinct sound to them and that isn't there on this solo.
  5. The outro solo on Monsters has Slash playing first and then it switches to Richard at the end. The change in tone and playing style is quite noticeable.
  6. Am I the only one who noticed that the outro solo on Monsters seems to have two parts - the first half played by Slash and the second half played by Fortus?
  7. I wasn't even born when they were at their prime, and never got the chance to see them live till now as they hardly ever played at my home country. I've been wanting to see them for more than a decade of being a fan and I consider myself lucky that I finally got the chance after a (partial) reunion! First of all, it's amazing how great Axl sounds live! I know a lot of people here have mentioned that before but it's absolutely true that he sounds powerful live. You can really see that the man is giving it his all with each song. Mickey only made an appearance in a few instances and even that was loads better than what you hear in recordings. He really killed it on this show for sure! I found it quite funny that Axl fumbled the timing of the chorus after the solo in Hardskool like he often does. I wonder why that's always a challenge for him. Slash is an absolute monster! Being the huge Slash fan that I am, I mostly camped at the right side of the stage and he was just there shredding song after song with his arsenal of guitars! There were problems with his guitar sound getting buried in the mix sometimes but his tone just sounds amazing when you can hear it properly. He did make a few mistakes here and there and I do think his playing was a bit more tasteful in his younger years when he used to play a bit slower, but he still remains my favorite guitarist! Duff and Richard were great too and they interacted a lot with the crowd. When Duff came over to my side, I looked at him and gave him a huge smile and he smiled back! Richard, as usual, was full of energy and was spinning around while hammering the strings. I really enjoyed the setlist too! Didn't expect them to play five songs for the encore. I'm glad they played Coma and Don't Cry but hoped they'd have played Better and TWAT instead of the covers. Also, I managed to grab the very first pick that Slash threw to the crowd, which means a lot to me since Slash was the one who inspired me to play guitar. Definitely the best concert of my life!
  8. I'm in the pit and the stage is much smaller than I expected. I'm pretty happy about it though, feels a lot more intimate!
  9. Anyone going to be in the pit and want to meet up? I decided to go to this show alone because none of my friends are a rabid GnR fan like me and I couldn't convince anyone to pay up for a pit ticket haha. I'm driving from Austin.
  10. Dude, didn't know it was you! Big fan!
  11. I thought it was standard tuning too when I was trying to figure out the solo yesterday, mainly because the solo starts with an E. But it was quite difficult to do all the double-stop bends clean enough. After looking at the live performance, it's quite clear that Slash plays it in half-step down tuning. Now my fingers have some relief when I'm trying to play the solo. 😄 However, I have no clue what scale Slash is using. It seems quite random and there are a couple of notes that I feel do not fit the chord progression. Yet, it somehow seems to work.
  12. Yes, there's one from the NZ/AUS release. Unfortunately, I hit my daily DM limit. 🙁
  13. Amazing Axl vocals and piano! I'll reserve my judgment on Slash's solo till I listen to it on a higher quality stream but it definitely sounds a lot better than the jukebox recordings (duh!). However, the unison bend that Slash does in the middle of the solo seemed a bit of of place to me when compared to the rest of the solo (almost out of tune). Again, I'll probably need a few more listens to fully dissect the song. So far, I like the song and can't get the chorus out of my head!
  14. After listening to the Slash solo a bunch of times, I'm pretty sure it'll sound a lot better in the official release. It appears to be double-tracked and the low-quality cellphone recordings in mono probably make it sound worse than it actually is.
  15. Even I don't understand why they decided to leave a bit of Robin's solo playing over Slash's, especially when we know that Slash hated Paul Tobias playing over his parts in Sympathy For The Devil. That part of the song just sounds off and isn't timed properly from what I can hear.
  16. Dammit, the bars in my city have closed already. Hope there's a cleaner recording by the morning.
