I once heard that in 2006 he had a some kind of rivallity with Scott Weiland (and Velvet Revolver in general) in terms of appeareance, that's why he cared more about his weight, look and voice.

In terms of appeareance? Don't think so, it would be a little hilarious

But imagine how funny it would be if Axl started doing that awful Weiland dance moves, shirtless with his hands on his waist.

Or if he started using a loudspeaker

I can appease you, you're not the only one.

I like hats, never leave my home without a hat, cap, or whatever, there has to be something on my head.

And I like that mustache, he can wear it, if I had a bit of beard growth, I might have one myself, but no chance :D

Well, I never wear hats but I don't care if he wears one or not.

But the truth is that both his stache and his hats are very unpopular in here

Some of his hats are fine..like the KOHD hat (ny fave one!) ...but the stache? Hell no lol!

To say the truth, I think that in 2006 he had a far more badass look than now. Stache w/o hats and no grandma hair

Lille, France 2010 - one of the best vocal performances from Axl in the NuEra. November Rain:

That sounds exactly like his current NRs. Not the best sample from 2010.

  4. I agree 100% with everything @Frey said in this thread. Exactly what I'm thinking.

I had been visiting this forum as a guest for a long period before I joined and there were always those people

making very nagative posts about Axl or even GN'R all the time (well before the reunion was announced).

It was funny when I later realized that almost everyone of them are Izzy fans.

I will always like Izzy and I really want to see him back in GN'R, even though some Izzy fans in this forum try really hard to make me change my mind...

Think about it his last album is better than anything from present GNR unless you want to bring up the early 90s

I haven't listened to it, but I'm sure an Axl's cough and a fart from Slash are better than anything he's put out.

Seriously, does it really matter in which order the very original members joined the band? Izzy was in GnR from the beginning, he helped to form the band, that was obviously what I was trying to say, not that he formed the band by himself. His role in AFD is out of discussion, his rhythm playing is as unique as Axl's voice or Slash's solos, his songwriting skills are outstanding... all of that forms the band, it's not only about joining the band. Duff McKagan has said that without Izzy GnR would have never existed and I think he knows about it a little bit more than us.

The order doesn't really matter and Izzy was very important to the song writing, that's for sure.

As for his rhythm playing, I don't think that it was as unique as Axl's voice or Slash's solos, that's a bit stretched imo.

I just believe that apart from some people that downplay his importance in the band, there are also those who exaggerate about it.

When one says that he was 'the heart and soul' of the band, or when you count each song that Izzy had even the slightest contribution as an Izzy song,

then you underestimate the others for example.

As for the Duff's quote, I agree that GN'R would have never existed as we know them,

but the same can be said for each of them.

Anyway, we all can have our opinion, I was just saying...

Same. I don't get why any supposed GnR fan can complain about Izzy related stuff being in the main section. He formed the band, for fucks sake. He is actually the only original member of the band that is making new music. I don't get the complaints, really. When I tried to reason I was told i was biased. Yeah, whatever, so are they, so I'm pretty comfortable in this section

I like Izzy and I don't care where this thread is, but how exactly did he form the band?

He was the 5th member that joined the original lineup.

    • Axl - Tracii Guns
    • Ole Beich - Rob Gardner
    • Izzy
    • Axl names the band Guns N' Roses
    • Beich -> Duff
    • Tracii -> Slash (Axl asked him to join them)
    • Gardner -> Adler

Izzy even had left as soon as Slash joined their band for the first time.

And yes, I felt that my hatred of astrology deserved its own thread. I really, really fucking hate astrology, and I hate how people believe in that bs and keep posting horoscopes everywhere (mainly because I can't stop myself from reading them and then getting pissed off because they say that bad things are gonna happen to me).

I mean seriously, how the fuck would it be possible for the stars to dictate my life and my actions? That just can't be happening, right? Fuck. I get all worked up about this shit. Like, I caught myself reading some stupid horoscope the other day and getting freaked out because it said bad things were to happen in 2017 and I would lose my job and nobody would want me around anymore anywhere any way.

What's your opinion on horoscopes and astrology?

Why did you freak out since you don't believe it? It doesn't make sense.

I don't believe it either, so I don't spend any time on that bs. I don't even know what my horoscope is.

And I did not know that Slash was no fan of Izzy's playing. I always looked at Slash and Izzy as a packaged deal and thought they complimented each other well musically, like Richards/Wood. Well damn...I guess we can all cancel Christmas on the possibility of Izzy ever coming back to the fold considering that Slash didn't like Izzy's playing and I assume playing with him as well.

Izzy said this about Slash in 2001:

"There's nothing more annoying than a guitarist just noodling. Shredding, it's horrid. It's the same thing when you try to get a band together, you always end up with these noodlers, y'know when I first met him, yeah. Slash was a noodler, man. I think he still is. Like in Guns N' Roses he would noodle but then the vocals would come back in and that would shut him up!"

But they both have said very positive things for each other as well, even after the breakup. They have wrote together all those amazing songs after all.

Their relationship has its ups and downs, that's all.
