Gnr should no longer be doing back to back dates. At best a gig Friday, and another on Sunday (or whatever days they land on). Axl can't pull it off, and if he does it impacts the other shows. That's not slagging Axl that's just a reality for a 61 year old singer who is having vocal issues

He was having those issues on the last tour and the show I went to was the second of a back to back.  Granted it was the last show for several months so he didn't need to save his voice but the vocals that night were right up there with 2016.  He even brought a lot of rasp on PC at the end.

Anyone know how excruciatingly hard & expensive itll be to get tickets for the Hard Rock FL show?

I saw them there in 2021 (last show of the tour).  They played back to back nights (based on schedule gap I suspect they might add a Saturday show) but I had no problem getting tickets without a presale.  It sold out eventually but I could have gotten any area on the regular sale day.

This is the third time they have played Hershey since the reunion, which is probably the worst concert venue I've ever been to lol.

It must be cheap to rent it out or something.  I've been to Hersheypark and just looking at the venue made me not want to see any concert there.  It looked like a shithole.

7 years now, next comes south america again, then north america, europe, etc... It's a never ending cycle.

At some point it will end.  I don't see Axl touring as late into life as Ozzy or Alice Cooper.  He won't be running around the stage when he's in his mid 70's and I can't see him just standing and singing like a statue.

    Ugh. Stadiums. Pass.

They are playing Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FL.  It's a great venue since it is designed for concerts and it is intimate at only 7k capacity.

Since the show is Friday night and nothing is scheduled until the following Wednesday I wouldn't be surprised if they add a Saturday show if Friday has strong sales.

Eric is still showing the GNR logo under his next race.  Maybe this wasn't a one time sponsorship. :)

I think it's around $100k per race to be the primary sponsor.  There's probably decent overlap between NASCAR fans and GNR fans.  Plus it seems that Clint Bowyer (former driver current announcer on Fox) is a GNR fan so he mentions the car several times giving them extra exposure for free.

Not for some, but for others it is. I know fans that can watch the same show 10 times in a row and enjoy it each time. Like people that have seen the same movie 50 times and still get a kick out of it too. At least every show brings a different ambience even with the same setlist.

You make a good point.  For me, it would not be worth the money to see the same exact show twice in a row in a short time frame.

Like you said, different people can enjoy different things.  I can't re-watch a reality/competition show season even if it's been 10 years since it first aired.  I know people who like to do just that!

If Axl decided he wanted to he'd go out and play the entire Chinese album and he'd do it knowing that Chinese isn't very popular/known with the majority of the audience. Of course they want the crowd to enjoy the gig though so they will always include the hits. The hits are not the problem. It's simply the knowing the structure, beginning ing/middle/end songs before the concert dates are even announced.

Most audiences want a different show to the one they saw the previous year, and most bands do this. Gnr are not some super slick production, so they could afford rotating the opening songs with a handful of options and it wouldn't make the crowd go any less insane. They could probably open with Patience and the crowd would lose their minds, and that's not a traditional opening song choice. I just mean they could do anything they want

I've seen them 4 times since the reunion and the setlists have been different each time.  Yes there is a ton of overlap but there are actually differences.  It doesn't tend to change from show to show on a current leg but the overwhelming majority of people don't see multiple shows in different cities on the same leg of a tour.  I do think they should change it up when they do back to back in the same city or when consecutive shows are within easy driving distance where it is practical for people to attend back to back shows.  It's not really worth it to see the exact same show twice in a row.

Nothing is fucked up. They hit you with the nightrain membership before you get the dates. Otherwise it's just over looked. The add is essentially a nightrain promo

If I was to consider a Nightrain membership to get early access to tickets I wouldn't do it without knowing if there is a show near me and if I can attend on the date.

It's also available on the band's merch website, and also store.nascar.com when you click on the number 43

I may buy one, but not if the car finishes in last place. Needs to be a top ten or better

What if Jones crashes and the car catches fire?  Then it will be like the lyrics to Nightrain!

Oh absolutely. They couldn’t even come up with the same lyrics nowadays, let alone the same behaviour. Not if they wanted to be all over the media and have the same impact like they had in their prime. Then again, they probably wouldn’t give a shit. And we probably wouldn’t know they existed.
It’s almost funny how it’s all shifted, isn’t it. I mean, the problems are the same (even worse), let’s not fool ourselves. But the public perception is now different, and there’s a huge game of pretence. But the attempt to control people behind it all, I think, is more and more visible each day.
There are some nice things about it too, sure. People should be equal etc., by all means. The trouble is, we’re not there yet. We’re in the first stage, where nice ideas are taken, twisted and turned upside down, and used for nefarious means. Same with the green politics and other stuff. Deception, scam, one after another.

Look, it’s 7 am here, and I’m only slowly working on my second coffee, ok?

I don't know about the lyrics.  Have you seen the lyrics in current hip hop songs?  Other than OIAM, I don't think any of GNR's lyrics were any worse.

  12. In the pre-race interview Michael Waltrip (former driver who does the interviews) interviewed Erik Jones in front of the car and commented that it was the coolest car in the race.  During the race they had the "Guns n' Roses" helmet cam view with the logo on screen and a couple of times during the race the commentator said "that Guns n' Roses car" while commenting on things.

They are definitely getting exposure.  For what, I still don't really know.

  13. I think the time is long past to accept the fact that Axl, for whatever reason, doesn't want to create new songs.  It's his life, his art and his career so there's nothing any of us can do about it.

I mean, if he had even the slightest desire to do it we would have had more than Absurd and Hard Skool and would have had more 5 years ago.  The reunion is closer to a decade than to a couple of years at this point.  There's been plenty of time.

Hard to believe she was "otherwise" healthy. Healthy thirty-year-olds don't die from the flu. There had to be something else going on. Perhaps she didn't take it seriously and stay in bed and ran herself down etc. But it doesn't kill young, healthy people. There's always going to be something else at play.

Sometimes they do. She took it seriously and was in the hospital for over two weeks. For whatever reason it kept getting worse and she ended up on a ventilator.

COVID doesn't kill many healthy people in their 30s either but on rare occasions they both do.

Depends on how bad your flu is, influenza made me nearly bedridden for a week and exhausted all through the second week. Not much living happened.

My friend's otherwise healthy daughter in her 30s died from the flu in early 2019. It can be just as serious as COVID.
