As far as 2019 Axl’s voice goes, this wasn’t really awful. Much more disappointing was Slash being practically muted on one of the best songs he’s ever written and that kazoo being used by (presumably) Melissa.
7/10 solid

If anything a good live version of Shadow Of Your Love. That song has been surprisingly good sometimes.
Edit: And + 1 on the songs with Steven.
Biased because it’s home (but they KILLED it either way), SOYL was perfect in Charlotte last September. I’d love to get that on the selects!

I’m glad this is happening. I needed a rock bottom to be done keeping up with this band on a daily-bi daily basis, and this is it.

Not sure if anyone saw it on Instagram yet, but Metallica did a reworked acoustic version of Blackened that is fantastic. All four band members recorded individual parts from their own homes.

I've heard Sirius XM play a lot of stuff from the recent AFD remasters on other non-specific GNR stations (Ozzy's Boneyard, Buzzsaw, Hair Nation, etc).
They’re on Hair Nation very often.

Obviously a big takeaway is how far Axl’s pipes have really slipped down. That’s not to hate on him or anything, it’s more tragic than anything really.
But also this was pretty eye opening for me in the sense that Frank is not right for this band. I’m not even a Frank basher or anything, and I happen to think he’s a great drummer. But he is not the right man for this job.

Completely irrational, but it makes my blood boil that they use “GNAIR” amongst themselves😒

Axl has released 5 albums, and a covers album with GNR over the past 35 years. Don't hold your breath on a new record anytime soon.
God, can you imagine if they’d only released one of the UYI albums in ‘91 due to record company pressure to hold on to some material for down the road or any other outside factors? We may have never seen the other album..

Saw NITL three times.. Always bought tickets beforehand for full price. Obviously given no new music and paying for my wedding I can’t justify that this go-round.
My question is: Are the odds decent to get cheap last minute tickets? Looking to go to Atlanta, but no way am I paying full price again. How has it worked out for y’all?

I’ll wait and see how the tour is going before deciding on Seattle... Saw McCartney in that place (assuming it’s the ball park in Seattle) sound was good. Alice in Chains would be a welcome opener again.... Seattle gigs are always good...
Agree, would love to see Alice In Chains. But I think DuVall has a solo tour this summer.

I'm not from America but apart from MetLife Stadium and Wrigley Field, I don't know any of these venues.. Are these smaller stadiums or MLB stadiums?
Some are MLB stadiums and a couple college football stadiums.

Not sure if they haven’t been accurately edited yet, but on TM the seating diagrams have the ENTIRE stadiums available for sale. That’s opposed to only half or less in the past.. They need a heavy hitting co-headliner or new album to fill them up.
Or it’s just me letting myself be teased and the stadium diagrams haven’t been fixed yet.

Theory: They (Axl and Slash) are doing this never ending touring loop because they’re scared that if it stops they won’t be cohesive enough anymore to grind out an album.

Sounds like you're a stage ahead of me.
I'm still very much at the "what a massive waste of talent" stage. It makes me quite sad really - and certainly frustrated - to think of the lost time.
I’m in your boat mate. I still sometimes wonder if Axl wakes up in the morning, looks in the mirror, and hates himself for throwing away 20+ years of his life and what could have been with Slash.

I'd pay big money to see that, not kidding
My World goes from being not even in my iTunes library and my most hated GNR song to one of the songs I’d most like to see if Snoop is in on it.

I think it was Tom Zutaut who said that Reckless Life should have been on Appetite and I agree. A finished version of Reckless on Appetite would have been a great fit. Shadow should have been on Lies.
Reckless Life and Shadow replacing Anything Goes and You’re Crazy on AfD are the only two things that could have made that album more perfect than it is. You’re Crazy was so much better on Lies and belonged there.

I personally have a 'live version' addiction. I have about 7 different versions of WTTJ saved on my phone, cause I love the minor differences between them all. But hey, that's just me.
Same here. GNR especially always seem to have semantical differences in their live versions of all songs that make them all great to me.

Coma and Locomotive rotation is pretty awesome. It’d be cool to hear Breakdown thrown in the mix every once in a while as well- now that’s a deep cut. Underrated song, one of my absolute favorites of the Guns library.
One of my favorites as well. It also happens to be another song I don’t think Axl would have to stress his vocals too much for either.

Holy fuck.. They played it.
And it sounded just as great as I imagined.

Twelve hours removed from being at the show and I’m still in the clouds over what I witnessed last night. I’ve followed the band as close as anyone the past fifteen or so years and Axl sounded as good last night as he has since the reunion kicked off; and I don’t feel that’s an exaggeration.
A couple observations:
1. SOYL was far and away the biggest surprise of the night. Not the fact that it was played, of course, but the fact that if you closed your eyes and listened to Axl sing it you’d have no clue whether it was 2019 or 1987. It was THAT good. Same with WTTJ.
2. Slash is a wizard, no question about it. But they could cut his number of solos in half and I think we’d all be satisfied.
3. Axl wasn’t meant to sing Slither. I respect the hell out of him for including it for Slash (and Duff, I guess), but it doesn’t sound good.
4. I saw a post on here last night saying that it was possibly the best Estranged since ‘93 and I think that’s correct. Axl knocked it out of the park and Slash was phenomenal.
5. Rocket Queen was better than I’d have ever imagined. Axl didn’t Mickey at all. Same with Madagascar.. I view CD as Axl’s bastard record and don’t like any of it, but he blew me away with it.
and finally 6. I think there’s a legitimate point to be made about the transference between a live show and a YouTube video. This is show #3 for me on NITL and Axl has sounded decent the other two, but he was amazing last night. I got home and watched some videos posted and it was like two different shows. I say that because Axl gets an atrocious rap on here sometimes and I’m not sure it’s fair. We all judge him through a lens unless we’re at the shows, but maybe he’s doing way better than we tend to think.

There's a bar called Fitzgerald's that's about a block from the arena that should be playing some GNR pre-show. Also, there's a World of Beer close-by as well. Plenty of options in general if you're looking to have a few drinks/a meal before the show!
Fitzgerald’s is a great bar. Also give the Epicenter a try. There’s Whiskey River and Howl at the Moon that are two fun bars there.
