In 2006-2007 Chinese still hadn't come out yet and Slash wasn't back, so the leaks back then were more noteworthy and huge because those were the first legitimate recordings of what Axl had been up to this whole time

Now in 2019, Chinese has been out for over 10 years and it's release was imperfect plus Slash and Duff are back so now the only people that care this much about these old CD era leaks are the hardcore fans now

    Yep. 💯

So in terms of cd how much input did axl have with the reccrd company with what songs were to make the album and the track listing?.

I would imagine he had full control over that. I don’t think CD had all of the best songs on it. I think it was planned as a two to three part release. Axl said as much in 2002. Apparently the second part was ready to go in 2010 and the record company did not want to release it then because CD had not done as well as they had hoped. In fact Axl was so pissed he went on Twitter and canceled the European tour scheduled for that summer and then changed his mind and claimed he was hacked. I remember I flipped out because I had a trip planned to Paris to see them.

Pretty sure, yes. SOYL was vintage Appetite. Beggars belief that it wasn't on the album.

Hard School is cool but only ranks as a mid-tier Chinese track, imo.

I liked SOYL as well. I think the guitar and drums on it were redone. HS is definitely better than scraped and Riad. I’d rank it about the same as IRS and a shade better than Shacklers.

I know people have had their hopes up but in defense nothing was promised. There’s people who say stuff to fuel the fire and wishful thinking expectations but in the end assumptions have brought on the feelings getting anymore else. So hopefully no one starts criticizing others over this. I’m sure we will hear more information on certain specifics but to think everything would be unloaded just like that is a huge miscalculation. To actually leak anything would require preparations and I don’t think people realize how much time could go into that to do it right and anonymously to the comfort of the “supplier”. Not to mention copying over and organizing and sifting through everything. It’s not the simplest task.

Yes someone could probably get away with hosting a stream and having someone play some of the music as a guest in a private periscope group for several people. Who then could record the audio and share that. But when it comes down to it any actual leaks of legitimate files aside from a small handful is not smart if you think about it honestly. No matter how bad someone wants to hear songs.

    Good points

I consider myself as a massive Oasis fan but not a hardcore fan. Anyway, hoarding stuff is known very well to Oasis fans as well.

But in 2018 happened a miracle nobody ever dreamed of:

For 20 years the holy grail to all Oasis fans have been the stripped down demos for Oasis’s  (overproduced and blown) 1997 album Be here Now which Noel Gallagher recorded during his holiday on Mustique island. There have been tons of myths and stuff about these demos. What was for sure was that  very few elite fans (hoarder) had a copy and teased/tortured the fan community for years with shitty cell phone snippets, photos of the demo tapes etc. just like its happening in here for the last two days regarding the Chinese demos. But regarding the Mustique demos it wasn’t for days, it was for years.

Not only this: Problem was, Noel Gallagher hates Be here Now, avoids playing songs of this record at his gigs for the last 15 years, excluded the album tracks from every compilation etc.

Hence, no hope for the casual fans to ever hear those legendary demos which must be 1000times better than the final album what all people stated who were entitled enough to have a listen. Even the band members said the demos were better than the final album, just like Slash says about the first Illusion mixes

Next bummer was that 2017 past and there was no 20th anniversary rerelease of Be Here Now like there was in 2014 and 2015 regarding the previous albums Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory.

AND THEN: In 2018 out of nowhere there it was, a massive anniversary edition of Be here Now including the ALL Mustique demos on a separate CD/Vinyl in proper quality with detailed liner notes and so on!!!

This was Noel/Oasis‘s present to their fans after they noticed what they really want.

I love Oasis. That’s a crazy story. The Morale being Oasis has some asshole hoarding fans as well.

If only Axl was bit more like Radiohead. As soon as something similar started happening to them, they dumped 16 hours worth of unreleased material on the internet to take the leakers’ powers away and give their fans what they wanted.

The main difference is that none of those tracks were meant for release. I’m assuming almost all of the tracks on these CDs have potential for release. But yes it would be nice if GNR operated like a normal band.

I used to roam these gnr boards constantly between 2005 - 2012ish ..alot..

I guess this is what they mean when someone relapses.. A Lil taste of new (ish) clips of 2 guns songs and that feeling.. Returns.

Take note Axl.. I know we're not your favorite fan (us Hardschoolers) but we wanna hear new material.. Beings you charge a few hundred dollars a ticket minimum for your shows, money should not be an issue.. I'm sure you will rant about leaks etc.or worse, but your casual fans which seems to be who you are targeting with the tour could care less about the Chinese era songs .yet we're the ones who'll get chastised for asking for a songs that literally were wound up forgotten about over the years.. Look at the traffic on your boards.. You don't owe us anything.. But you'd think you wouldn't have to look at it like that..

It is like a relapse. When you go 11 years you just kinda forget how exciting it can be to hear new music from your favorite artist. And then you get that taste and you remember why you fell so hard.

I'm not a hardcore fan of any other band outside of GNR.  my take is that GNR fandom is a totally different beast that the fandom of any other band.  who else could put out little to no new music for 25 years and still sell out stadiums?  who else doesn't acknowledge their fans and still keep them?   who else has a rumor that 60 plus songs exist that haven't been released and when 2 incomplete versions leak a forum has 60 plus pages of fans discussing it?

I dont know there are other fanbases who deal with this stuff, but as I said, in my opinion this is a whole different animal.

It just baffles me. This band and fan base are so bizarre.

  9. Question for all -

I'm not a hardcore fan of any other band. Do hardcore fans of other bands behave like hardcore GNR fans? Do they hoard material? I alway thought fandom was supposed to be a communal experience. This is why sporting events and concerts can be so enjoyable. People who are passionate about the same things getting to share in that passion.  Not meaning to criticize anyone I'm just genuinely curious.
