oh yes i have read up on that but i think he said he only got instrumentals to work with, no lyrics.

i have read old posts on this forum where people think Thyme is TWAT.

I remember some old blogpost (i think - does anyone else remember this?) where some guy supposedly heard an early version of CD in which Thyme was an interlude that segued into TWAT. There was also (allegedly) a short song called Reprise that segued into Chinese Democracy, as in the intro to CD was actually the ending of Reprise.

Although, I'm pretty sure now that it was just a load of old bollocks.

Mods, could one of you please delete any links to my horrible, offensive, amateurish effort that nobody reading this right now should ever have heard? Thanks.

Man, don't be so hard on yourself. The fanbase really do appreciate the work that you've done. I remember the first time I heard your Silkworms remix, it blew my fuckin' mind. Not to mention your clean ups of stuff like It Tastes Good etc. :headbang:

Edit: Those Aaliyah and Rihanna mashups were awesome too. And the 2Pac ones... And Dark Train... you get the picture lol

  3. I don't know if anyone's seen this before, but I've found an artist support page on the TDRS site, a record label that Buckethead frequently works with, that allows fans who have got music through file-sharing etc. to make a contribution directly to Bucket or Vince DiCola (another artist on the label) or to help towards funds for TDRS generally.

I know that Buckethead's albums can be quite expensive and hard to find (at least outside the US) - I own all of his albums up until the Pikes, and I sure as hell didn't buy them all - so for me this is a great way of giving back directly to Bucket for all the awesome music I've had over the years.

    Check it out: http://tdrsmusic.com/artist_support_page.html

Nah.  I vaguely remember Axl saying something along the lines that there wasn't "3 full albums" worth of material after Sebastian Bach said he thought there was....or something along those lines.

And let's say there's enough for a CD II, I GUARANTEE it's nowhere near finished because if it was, the record label would be the ones pushing it out since they have the most to gain with basically nothing to lose.

I don't know about CD3, but Axl said in 2014 that both CD2 and the remix album were done and ready to go. Seeing as another album release would probably end up getting Guns out of their contract, I can only assume Universal were holding out for a reunion for obvious reasons.

sounds logical but there is probably a mass of red tape in the way.

some bands have put new albums online for free download and never released them in a physical form.

who owns CD2 ? Axl himself said that 14 million didn't pay for CD1 but 3 albums so who owns CD2 and CD3 if that was ever finished ?

Axl for all we know might want to put CD2 online but the record label that funded it are saying no.

with a wall of silence we can only speculate. but i don't think Axl or TB are responsible for the lack of new music.

I've always gone with this theory, but if that's the case, Universal must be run by a bunch of dumbasses. If you spend 14 mil on 3 albums, why the hell would you only release 1? It would be easy profit when they've got a pair of extra albums done and ready to go, especially nowadays when you can just slap it on Spotify without having to worry about manufacturing costs etc.

Again I think the studio is a dangerous place for these two to spend time. What Axl thinks gnr should be and what Slash thinks gnr should be are completely different things.

Tbh, at this point it's irrelevant what Slash thinks GNR should be. It's Axl's band and Slash is just a hired gun who's there to make some serious dough.

You could argue that it has always been Axl's band (him and Tracii were the founders, Tracii goes, ergo, 'Axl's band').

I think Slash is smart enough to understand that now, and has his own projects he can go to when he wants to do outdated classic rock. Although the years since leaving Guns the first time around has shown that he's now pretty indiscriminate in who he works with and what styles he does.

I wouldn't be suprised if Axl continues Guns in the spirit of guys like NIN or Prince & The NPG - going into crazy mad scientist mode in the studio (whether we hear any of it is something else entirely) and just having Slash, Duff & co. as a touring band.

Anybody have lyrics to evaders mix?

The lyrics are pretty indecipherable, but we can't really expect anything else as the source material was itself barely audible, I think Evader did a great job.

In the first part I can hear:

"[something something] who gave it back to you,

Who would do this to you,

Who would do this to you, to the young?"

Then in the next part where the guitars drop out, it sounds like he says something about "two people" and then either "abuse" or "abused".

In the last parts I can make out (tbh I can only hear this as these are lyrics Rick has mentioned before):

"My hopes, my dreams have died,

Now I rest my hate in the rumours as they're pushing through,

There's a child now, chained to the bed now,

    [Something something something]

I think it's high time you should fucking die, child..."

I can't make out the rest of that part, then it goes back to the first part.

Apparently, the actual lyrics to Evader's version are doing the rounds, and people are even hoarding those. It's pretty sad really.

It's either some pathetic ego trip, or people are actually trying "Hey, I'll give you the lyrics for Evader's General for the VMAs rehearsal".

  8. I highly doubt that A/S/D ever considered collaborating any further than the reunion tour. This is no more than a payday for them. At a push they could finish that '95/'96 album, but that's highly unlikely tbh. Axl has progressed beyond 80s cock rock, and Slash has his own projects he can do that kind of thing with.

If Axl releases any of the mythical 'big guns' as a single, people will be excited, regardless of whether or not Slash and Duff recorded parts for it. It doesn't necessarily mean it will be commercially successful, but it will still start a buzz.

If the subject of the actual song is what was discussed on the AFD podcast that is some heavy stuff.  Sometimes artists get too transparent and later regret it.  I wouldn't be surprised if this song never comes out.  Maybe a cathartic exercise to write it, but releasing it is another thing entirely.  That said, it could be a powerful thing if something was done with it like @Chester524 suggested.  You can't change the beginning of the story, but you can write the ending.

If there's a particular reason why this wasn't released, other than the usual record label crap, this is most likely it. With all the stuff that's come out recently about it's subject matter, I'm not suprised we've never heard it.

That's kind of up to him to share. Personally, I think it's amazing and SHOULD be shared.

@evader what say you? I don't want to put it out there without your blessing, but I think it should be heard for what it's worth.

Evader doesn't seem to have a problem with other people sharing it, so can we hear it?

I can't find it anywhere - if it was "out there", then it isn't anymore.

To those who want to hear this, it is already "out there". I've even been sent public, streaming links to it - people wanting me to verify it was mine. It has been shared with so many people I can't believe you all haven't heard it already.

Please don't PM me for links. I'm terrible at saying "no" but in this particular case I don't feel I have a choice. You'll have to get it from one of the other 50 members of this forum that already have it. When you do hear it, if you don't like it, then I didn't make it.

I've only been able to find the 8 sec clip, not the 2+ min one. If this was more easily found, then surely it would stop people trying to sell it for thousands

A version that Evader made that's 2 minutes and 28 seconds is what was being discussed.

So when the guys said "I have The General", that's what they meant?

Does anyone know what the lyrics were in Evader's version, other than the line Rick mentioned? The 8 sec clip is too short to make anything out. If those are the actual lyrics, then that's dark as fuck.

  13. I'm not too clear on what was being spoken about - does Rick have the real General, or just the fan-made one? The impression that I got was that he had the real one and was impressed with how close the fan-made one was in comparison.

And are they talking about the Evader version? Is that the 8 second version that "leaked" with all that wind-chime sounding stuff over the top? I couldn't hear any lyrics anywhere near as clearly and Rick seemed to (No offence to Evader, who's work is actually awesome).
