I think Richard does a fine job but you are out of your mind if he is as valuable or on the same level as slash

I didn't say he is on the same level as Slash... I´ve just pointed out that Slash was replaceable for 20 years, 1 record and countless headlining tours... So the theory that one is irreplaceable and the other ain't it's not true...

    At least in Axl's head

It’s cool u think Harrison is relevant as a player - Name some big riffs or solo’s he kills it on - I love Keith But he is a Rthymn player -

Clapton has a chance to be great but “ Mr Brownstone “ Destroyed him to the point he became a folk music player

The few Riffs the Beatles had / Clapton played them in the studio for them

as far as This I love - Robins version is cool because he wrote it but Slash made it his own on tour and killed it - I love Slash’s version better but since Robin “ Mr I don’t play solos “ For NIN wrote the song I’ll give him some credit but not much

It's kinda funny when you say Harrison it's not relevant because he doesn't have big riff and solos (which i can disagree and name a few in just a sec). And call Keith a rhythm player , a guy who wrote riffs like Satisfaction, Jumpin Jack Flash, Start me up, Brown Sugar, Honk Tonk Woman among others...

With the exception of While My Guitar Gently Weeps do you know any other recording Clapton  did with the Beatles?

  3. Gotta disagree... I miss old Slash so much... Slash became a legend because in a time of shredders he was a soulful blues based player. Now he tries to be a full on shredder what is far away from his best at guitar... I just can't figure out why. But to me is so bad that I pratically think he didn't "relearned" his old deep cuts solos and parts... So when these parts comes in a song he just shreds and improvise... What in 90% of the time, is just bad...

I won't even go into the Chinese Songs ... This another story...

Even more I take the Axl quote about Slash not wanting to work that hard to be completely true

I disagree  @Beto 22.  Other entertainers don't do this.  Prince did. He was a control  freak. His estate also does these things.

Being a control freak just goes into the direction I told... Axl cannot control how bad he sound and looks some days lately. So what he camp does? Block videos that shows this

  5. Personally I think Axl and his camp knows about the takedowns... And is their call to block the videos. Duff and Slash solo careers  don't have this issues.

My point of view is a business strategy... With no videos general people don't get tired of the same setlist every other night. People don't get aware of vocal problems or weight issues. So they can pay the high prices tickets and cash in....

These youtube videos can really damage the general audience that isn't die hard fans and want a "better" performance overall.

If it's a good strategy, only time will tell.

Didn't paul also co - write Shadow of Your Love too? I've always wondered what Paul is like to make Slash n Duff not like him, I know Slash doesn't like him cause of him recording his solos on Sympathy but that's kinda because of Axl, but I wonder what went on those "sessions" with him.

He co wrote back off bitch. What both Slash and Duff said before to dislike him were although "he couldn't play" he also had an attitude of "Axl boy" that no matter what he did he would be in the band regardless of what Slash and Duff thought about it

I agree with both points. Paul had a co write on Guns demo tape, it doesn't just start at UYI with his involvement. Would be great to hear an interview

If I can coin a term, Id say that Paul passed the "Tommy Test." Tommy didnt like Bucket, Bumblefoot, DJ and he tested and pushed Brain initially. In whispers Tommy talks about people who had never been on a 'big rock record' (a reference to Paul) and that Pauls ideas were undermined, but eventually they all kind of matured and developed better ways of communicating - they needed to discuss why they agree or disagree on an idea. Jump to the CD credits and its clear that Pauls ideas were embraced by Tommy and co.

I don't think Paul has passed the "Tommy Test" . Paul didn't pass the Slash/Duff test and was still in the band long after these two... I believe that if Tommy tried to "test" Paul in any shape or form, he would not be in the band for so long. If Slash and Duff didn't embrace the guy or his ideas,  wouldn't be Tommy decision to embrace or not Paul's persona and ideas that will matter

@SoulMonster Axl forced Dave Dominguez to destroy the original demo tape of TIL from the UYI era in 1998 and it didn’t come back into the picture until many years later when “robin, among others” (according to Axl) convinced him to resurrect it. I guess robin must’ve heard it before the original tape was destroyed.

goldstein referred to it in 2001 as “an old GnR song” that wouldn’t be on the album. So at that point (which is also around the time of these locker discs), it was still dead.

If I can recall correctly , Dave Dominguez said Axl told him to erase the "I Love You Stephanie" part after the end of the song. Not necessarily the entire tape. He also said he took extra care to not erase any other thing of the track

Fortus has implied Slash wanted him, not true. His manager apparently asked Fortus, not Slash, and nobody except Fortus has ever said anything about it. I don't think he lied, more of a misunderstanding.

Not sure... Fortus played with Thin Lizzy in 2011. I do believe that Perla was Slash manager at the time... I don't think Slash was unaware of this....

    partially.

Ax couldn't move on with his career w/o Slash, so that gave Slash extra leverage.  Ax career was dead.

Slash always had rights to logos and merch.

As to line up, Frank/Mel/Fortus were obviously, Ax choice.  Slash and Duff, according to the ppl close to them privately, are not all that happy, but happy enough not to cut their contracts short.

Adler is never gonna be reliable enough to be back full time.  They obviously gave him a chance, but it is silly to think he is out over 'back problems'. What really is the problem - know only the 4.

Fortus/Frank were obviously, never first choice.  Remember they themselves said 'we were called back last minute'.

Why Iz is not there, is something only they know. Obviously, financies, but why Ax refused to give in - only Ax knows.  I think Slash would have given Iz whatever Iz wanted.  He also works with Conspirators and doesn't care all that much.

Gilby probably isn't here cause they still hope to have Iz back.  Having Gilby back only to replace him with Iz, wouldn't work that well with either side + it would bring back some memories.  Slash and Duff are too good friends with Gilby to screw him twice.

Matt obviously, financial side.  Slash and Duff would bouth take Matt over Frank any minute.

    Anyway, new record?

They will not take any risk with that.   When they decide it is time, they will probably hire everyone they need is needed to make it as good as possible.   Will F n F be there?  Will their contract expire by then?  I have no doubt that Fortus will be sidelined if threy feel they need Iz.  Frank?  I don't think anyone asks him anything.

If they say Charlie Watts or Dave Grohl,  it will be the 2 w/o asking Frank a thing.

Well, I think Axl's carer was "dead" as much as Slash and Duff... Axl was playin' arenas (sometimes half full). Duff and Slash were playin' theaters... So I don't know how much Axl's carrer if you compare it with Slash And Duff...

As far as I know Slash had rights to old Logos . The ones that GNR usually sell between 2001 and 2015 were pretty much from the Chinese Era

About the lineup I'm not so sure that Slash and Duff were unhappy... Like someone said , Slash wanted Fortus to play in his solo band. Rich didn't do because of his loyalty to Axl. As far as Frank goes, I believe Slash and Duff would prefer Sorum to bring more of a reunion factor. And there were rumours that Sorum wanted the same paycheck he used to have. Honestly I personally thinks that lineups would only be the original 5 + dizzy or the way things ended up happening. So I don't think personel changes with the hired guns was so much a discussion... And maybe that was the reason that maybe Slash and Duff were "Unhappy" .

I'm pretty much sure that Fortus will stay even if Izzy comes back permanently. But of course this only my opinion

And let's not forget that was a rumour that the salary of the hired guns comes from Axl cut... So, if that's true, it's more than fair that he can pick the ones he wants and stayed loyal to him

Bit of confusion on this point. I need to listen to it again versus the 99 Freese version (It leaked first). Brain and Bucket joined together in 2000 as both Finck and Freese left when their contracts ran out in 1999 (Freese at least said they were all under contract for 2 years 97-99 and he had to decide to renew or go and do something else).

Yeah... I know that Bucket arrived late 99, early 00... But I'm almost sure that Brain joined after the first half of 2000
