Or maybe Brain's track was so heavily processed (in order to fit the new version) that it ended being something completely different.

I've no doubt that the drum track for the final version of Hard Skool was heavily quantized, regardless of who played it.

Alas, most modern rock songs are quantized and autotuned to death. And I really mean 'to death' because these processes sap the life out of songs.

Anyone know what hotel Axl and the band likely to stay out? Where's the best spot to try and get a picture with the band (long shot I know....)

Axl usually stays at the Mandarin Oriental in Knightsbridge (at the opposite end of Hyde Park to where the gig will be).

(Not saying that you will, but please don't give the band any hassle that they don't want).

It's one of the most expensive - and best - hotels in town. If I had his cash I'd totally stay at places like that!

This is the first time since 2016 that they respond publicly to negative reviews (it's addressed to The Independent and The Telegraph)

About a year ago, Neil McCormick (who wrote the review of Guns at Glasto for The Telegraph) got heaps of abuse from fans of Blackpink because he only gave their album 4 out of 5. And the tone of that review was positive.

So, if we are going to respond to Neil, let's at least be polite and constructive. The guy was only doing his job (although I agree that his comments about Axl's appearance were unnecessary).

Very excited for tonight. Best move they could make IMO is opening with Jungle. It would be epic, festival appropriate and set the mood immediately.

They should look to Springsteen's headlining set as a cautionary tale. He played the exact set from his tour and parts of it just didnt land with an eclectic Glasto crowd. People wanted Born in the USA, not material from Working on a Dream. I remember thinking his set was a missed opportunity. Elton's got the right idea making a custom Glasto set.

    This.

Tonight isn't the night for playing new songs and deep cuts. Give the millions of people watching the songs they know.

And for god's sake, keep Slash's solo spot to a couple of minutes. His usual 10-15 minute bowl of noodles would really test people's patience.

I know has been said countless times, but it’s always relevant:

With any, and I mean any other band in the world, all signs point to new music happening at this show. But with GNR, they never do anything that ever makes a lick of fucking sense, so im not getting my hopes up.

Don't get me wrong - I am as eager to hear new GnR songs as anyone.

But I actually hope that they don't play any new songs at Glastonbury. This isn't a hardcore GnR audience that they are performing to and, in the two and a bit hours they have, they need to give the punters their best known songs only. (Don't forget about the millions watching on the BBC as well).

They should save the new stuff for their own concerts.

Yea...I think now that Emily Eavis is taking care of the day-to-day, with Michael getting on a bit...she's on record as a bit of a fan of GNR and always wanted them to headline at some point (apparently) She seems to be a bit of rocker at heart....I mean this year, it's like a throwback to guitar rock (Elton is a mix of piano and guitar rock....I guess). Lizzo was thrown in to quiet the rags and social media keyboard warriors moaning about diversity. I'm all for variety and moving with the times but NOT just for the sake of it and some years will balance to the old more than others...as that's what a fluid festival should be. I'm glad Guns are getting this opportunity. Let's face it, other than a successful/good LP coming out, what else have they to come after that'll be bigger than this?

Release the singles in the next 3/4 days Team Brazil. Come on!!!

As with all social media controversies - it was really only a few loudmouths on Twitter who were complaining.

I'm sure that nearly everyone who is actually going to Glasto will be too busy having a good time (whoever they are watching) to worry about the gender/race/sexual orientation balance of who is on stage.

  7. Funny - I always thought that Noel was a GnR fan. I remember him being very complimentary about their show at RIR3 (when Oasis were on the bill immediately before them) AND about Chinese Democracy.

On the other hand - he just can't resist giving a provocative opinion. Remember how he came unstuck a few years ago when he questioned the choice of Jay-Z as a Glastonbury headliner?

  8. Heehee.

This reminds me of Axl's rant at some airport security guards, which got him arrested in Phoenix in 1998.

Allegedly, when they tried to search his bags, he yelled  'you are all just little people on a power trip. I'll punch your lights out right here right now!'

    My first ever rock show.

Axl in cornrows and a Jerry Rice jersey. Robin lolloping about like a cross between John Cleese and Marilyn Manson. Buckethead being... Buckethead.

    Bizarre but brilliant.
