The next 'new' GNR song we will probably get to hear will be a polished version of It Tastes Good, Don't It for the 40th anniversary of AFD

I'd love to be a fly on the wall watching Axl watch this video. He'd probably push the new album back another 15 years to punish us.

I've just seen on Facebook they've updated the UK tour marketing video with the new July 2022 tour dates.
They're still calling it "The Next Chapter" and an "All new show"
Strap yourselves in people, The General is on the horizon

How much of the new album are they going to be playing then?

2x tickets for the Spurs stadium on the Saturday, the absolute cheapest seats possible I think. £166.70 all in for the pair. Block 452.

I remember going to the 2017 London shows and spending a large portion of the gig convincing my mate that we WOULD be getting the new album summer 2018 at the latest supported by Wembley Stadium gigs 🤣

A version of this would have been perfect for the AFD boxset. I imagine most non die hard GNR fans have no idea this song exists.

Those top two promos are great, I have both of those. That artwork could easily have been used for an official release, even if they just slapped on a live track from the 2006 tour for the b-side I would have lapped it up.

The lack of output is such a crime that, while slightly funny, is mostly depressing that the band has gone to such waste. A band that could have easily been the next Stones or Aerosmith in terms of status but alas. The most dangerous band in the world is surely the most boring at this point.
I was thinking earlier today that even if GNR had kept it together as a functioning band for the majority of the 90s we likely would have got at least one or two more albums comparable to AFD/ UYI, which probably would have made them the undisputed Rolling Stones of the 1990s.
How is it possible that a band / singer puts out material like Estranged and November Rain and then not follow it up for 17 years?! It really is quite funny and astonishing.

I genuinely don't remember that getting released, let alone seeing it available in shops!
I don't think it was ever available in the UK, I think Germany got it and maybe a few other European countries.

Since Chinese Democracy came out Oasis split up and the Gallaghers have released 7 albums, which is the same amount as Oasis released from 1994 to 2008.

Good to know my memory and brain are still (remotely) functioning after a year of lockdown!
So, essentially, no single was ever properly released- just promo copies to radio stations etc? That's mad - especially as at the time the market for physical copies of singles was still pretty active.
Technically there actually was an official CD release for the title track. Although in typical GNR style it is the most half arsed attempt possible. No artwork, no b-side, so completely pointless.

I really don't see the "non promotion" story with CD. There were commercials on TV and displays in the store. Plus it had all the hype. What else could they do?
It bombed for a lot of reasons, and I say that as a fan
Maybe release proper singles with proper videos? Before, during, and after the albums release, like you'd expect from any big album at the time.
And if Axl had come out of hiding and talked to the media, that might have helped. Especially a big TV interview would have been big.
The above is basically the bare minimum after the label had spent $14 million or whatever it was on recording and mixing the thing.
After the total lack of cooperation from Axl I'm not surprised in the slightest that a follow up never came.

That would be a big NO🤣 If they wanted to do a new album and include that as a bonus? sure why not!
I wouldn't put it past Axl/Team Brazil to try and pull that kind of shit. A 'new' album to allow them to tour into their mid 60s while again releasing zero new material.

What if the album came out and it was literally the 2008 album re-recorded with Slash and Duff?
-
I don't think a new album is close to imminent, a 2-5 year timeframe is about as optimistic as I'll allow myself to be, but that's been the case since 1987 I guess.
I think we're far more likely to hear new music through leaks. Roll on The General.

I've just listened back to Tonto, it easily has the potential to be a standout album track. I'd love to hear it with vocals.

Yeah, I'd agree,
They also need to re-find their energy and enthusiasm at this stage, by whatever means necessary. I'd suggest the only way to do that is to seriously shake things up.
If they come back after a 20 month break with low energy then it's definitely all over!

Would you pay the high price to see them though based on them just playing Hardschool, assuming the rest of the set is the same?
If the setlist was identical other than Hardschool I certainly wouldn't rush to get a ticket.
The very least they could do at this point is rotate the setlist, but really new material is a must to keep any shred of excitement. 3 or 4 songs ideally but that will never happen!

Watch them churn out the same old setlist and pretend like Hard School never happened.
If they come back after all this time and don't play any new material any chance of a new album is over.
Best case scenario in my opinion will be a Hardschool and maybe one more 'new' song played, which would be an acknowledgement from Axl finally of a new album.

This was probably engineered by Fernando as an attempt to push sales for the GNR children's book.
At this rate Axl will have appeared in more cartoons than he has released studio albums.
