They skipped that one in Groningen NL last time....so I guess I might have to go one more time.
But I think this time I will wait for big changes before I decide to buy tickets or not.

They didn't play it at the London gig I attended which was frustrating. Axl sounded pretty solid for the shortened set though!

I have a feeling the vinyl box set is more limited than we thought. Dont think there is  gonna be another locked n loaded fire sale on these down the road. I could be wrong but maybe they learned their lesson from the last one. The cd box set seems to be readily available everywhere though so I would expect to see a big sale on those in the future.

For anywhere close to £435 RRP the vinyl boxset can remain sold out forever as far as I'm concerned.

If the CD set drops to £100ish I might be tempted to bite. The Blu Ray is probably worth £30 on it's own.

I think I have addressed all of this, haven't I? I have no problems with fans wanting more from GN'R, I want that too, nor with fans being disappointed, that is only natural up to a point. But here we talked about a specific fan who suggested spending so much time here brought him down. And that's a very much a self-inflicted wound with a very easy solution. Not that I want him to leave, at all, I was just pointing out the absurdity of it.

Now I am going to "defend" the band again:

You claim the band is mismanaged, I would argue that the extremely successful reunion which led to one of the highest selling tours of all time, flies directly in the face of such a claim. I believe you think they are mismanaged because they don't manage the band in the direction that you want, but that is not what management is about, it is about managing the band in the direction the band wants. And from where I am sitting, they seem to do that very well.

You also claim Axl is unmotivated, I would argue that no singer who tours as extensively as he does at the age of 60, playing three hour shows and working his ass off, can be called "unmotivated". I believe you think he is unmotivated because he doesn't seem to be motivated into doing the things that you want, but that is not what that motivation means, it means having the energy and drive to do what oneself wants. And from where I am sitting, he really seems to be motivated in touring.

Did I really defend the band now or did I actually counter some arguments I felt weren't really thought through? I suppose it is about perspective. Personally, I think I am more about hitting down on lazy or erroneous arguments more than defending the band, it just happens that in this forum there is a lot of it and when people don't really get what I write they interpret it as defending the band more than defending rationality.

So you genuinely think that Fernando is a good manager for GNR? Just wow.

I don't think they need any help considering they do what they want to do and earn big bucks doing it.

They need urgent help to function like a credible band that cares about it's legacy, that's for sure. Making money shouldn't be the be all and end all.

Slash promising imminent new material doesn't help either.

Do you honestly think they will have new material out by June 2023?!

Prepare for a good ol' bellyful of laughs next summer!

After all the Slash talk about "music coming out imminently" I genuinely thought we'd have something by now!

It's crazy that Absurd is nearly 16 months old!

Roll on 'The Next Chapter' 2023

Once again, it was a very stupid decision to put the superb sounding remastered NR on there when the rest of the songs sound totally different and not as great. Kills it for me.

Only in the world of GNR would this decision be made. The new November Rain should have been an exclusive 7" / CD included in the respective boxsets.

That would have been a good reason to pick up the boxset, but a demos & Outakes disc should have been essential.

  7. Enjoying the live material, although I'm not sure how often I'll return to it in the future. Both 2CD packages are more than enough for me at the moment. £18 each in HMV seems reasonable for over 2 hours of brand new live material plus the new version of November Rain.

I can't hear much improvement, if any, in the 'remaster ', it's a real shame they didn't release both albums in remixed form as they would have surely become the definitive editions.

I still can't believe they didn't include a disc or two of demos & rarities in the £435 / £265 boxsets. Pretty baffling. Stubbornly only offering live material must surely have impacted on sales in a big way.

I still think there could be something coming.

    - Slash said they will release some songs, they had worked on. He didn't give an exact number, but I got the impression he was talking about more than one or two songs. I believe they actually worked on those songs and that there were/are plans to release them.

    - "The Spotify Thing" could still mean something. Probably not (something doesn't seem quite right), but nobody is sure of anything.

    - There seems to be a new situation with the record company. Some things seem to be worked out by now.

    - There is the unknown piece they soundchecked recently.

Plus they're playing the River Plate stadium in Argentina this Friday, which is a massive gig by anyone's standards. So it would be a great gig to throw in a brand new song.

Friday is also the usual day that new music is released on Spotify, so it would make perfect sense!
